It happened in the blink of an eye. The three men surrounding Ai were sent flying, crashing into the surrounding walls.
Ai's shocking performance left Gan'an, the bodyguards, and Kaguya staring at her in a daze, as if they were meeting her for the first time.
"No, impossible!"
"They are elites I hand-picked... I didn't even see Hayasaka move..."
The bodyguard captain couldn't believe it. He was in his prime, at the peak of his strength, yet he couldn't even track the movements of this underage maid. He stood there, mouth agape, stammering in shock.
"I have endured for a long time!"
"It was only because I didn't have this power before that I let you bully us again and again," Ai declared, standing tall and majestic. "Today, I will use my true strength to break this cycle!"
Kaguya stared intently at this incredibly cool, transformed Hayasaka Ai. What had happened to cause such a change? And Ai's words revealed so much.
Gan'an instantly tried to guess who had given Ai the courage and power to defy his will. But there was no time to think. This maid had to be dealt with, or his authority—and by extension, the stability of the Shinomiya Group—would crumble. His sons were already plotting in the shadows, and he couldn't afford to show weakness.
"Take Hayasaka out immediately!"
"Yes! Family Head!"
Gan'an's voice snapped the shocked bodyguards back to reality.
"Draw weapons!"
Having followed Gan'an for years, the captain knew exactly what "take her out" meant in this context. Regardless of location or witnesses, the target had to be eliminated as quickly as possible.
Upon the captain's order, the remaining twelve bodyguards drew their handguns from their waists.
"Hayasaka! Surrender!"
Seeing his men draw their guns, Gan'an offered one final "warning." It wasn't out of kindness, but simply a reminder that her family and mother were still under his control.
"Impossible!"
As she spoke, Ai vanished from her spot.
These bodyguards were just ordinary humans. They might look strong, but to the current Ai, a flick of her finger was enough to incapacitate them.
Bang! Bang! Bang!!
The moment she disappeared, over a dozen bullets cut through the air where she had just been standing.
Ai was strong now, and her defense had improved, but without armor, modern weapons could still hurt her.
Lin Feng, hiding nearby in stealth, noted this. Level 2 grants significant physical boosts, but to tank handgun fire head-on, one would need to be Level 3 or 4. To survive a rocket launcher? Probably Level 6.
Ai knew her limits and had no intention of getting shot.
Moving rapidly around the room, Ai pulled the MK2 energy pistol Lin Feng had given her from her spatial bag. She didn't want to kill, but she had to fight back.
As she moved, she pulled the trigger. Streaks of purplish-black light erupted from the MK2.
The twelve exposed bodyguards were hit instantly. Within seconds, five of them were down, either dead or severely wounded.
"What is that weapon?!"
Gan'an had thought capturing Ai was a sure thing. But surprises kept coming.
Ai had produced a high-tech weapon from nowhere. Judging by the beams, it was an energy weapon. The Shinomiya Group researched such technology but had never achieved a breakthrough. Yet here it was, being used in combat right before his eyes.
Ten seconds later, the remaining seven bodyguards were also lying on the floor.
The luxurious living hall of Kaguya's mansion was now filled with the scent of blood, which pooled on the floor.
Because the firefight was so sudden and fast, Kaguya's own bodyguards and Gan'an's remaining men outside only just burst through the doors, weapons drawn.
They were greeted by a shocking sight.
A dozen of Gan'an's elite bodyguards were lying in pools of blood, their fates unknown. Aside from them, the only people standing were Gan'an, Kaguya, and the personal maid, Hayasaka Ai.
Internal family strife? Is Lady Kaguya seizing power from the Family Head?
This was the first thought that crossed everyone's mind, especially seeing Ai holding a strange pistol and the bodies on the floor. It was unexpected that the usually docile Lady Kaguya would choose this moment to strike.
"Why aren't you seizing this traitor?!" Gan'an roared at the newcomers.Shinomiya Gan'an's expression twisted entirely, losing all traces of his initial relaxed and domineering composure.
"Y-Yes!"
Gan'an had brought a total of twenty bodyguards with him. Now, only five remained standing, mingled in the crowd, forced to hold their ground with stiff resolve. Their families worked for the Shinomiya Group and were under its control, leaving them no choice.
However, these five bodyguards and one head housekeeper were all Gan'an had left at his disposal in this room.
The remaining mansion staff and bodyguards turned their eyes to Shinomiya Kaguya. Without her explicit approval, they dared not act on their own.
"That's enough, Hayasaka! Let me handle the rest."
Lin Feng's voice was as warm as a spring breeze. Though spoken softly, every word reached the ears of everyone present with crystal clarity.
"Who is that?!"
Gan'an, now as skittish as a frightened bird, looked around frantically upon hearing the voice.
"Feng-kun..."
Ai sensed Lin Feng's presence immediately and quickly moved to his side, leaning against him.
