Chapter 393: Auntie Lucifer, I Don't Want to Work Hard Anymore

After descending the stairs, Lucifer kept a close eye on her phone. She watched as Pandemonica's replies grew slower, the intervals between messages stretching into long silences, until finally, they stopped altogether. Seeing this, Lucifer let out a quiet sigh of relief. It seemed Pandemonica had finally fallen asleep.

Ren didn't even turn his head, his focus entirely consumed by the notebook in his hands. Clow Reed had left behind a wealth of information, not just summaries of Ichihara Yuko's strengths, weaknesses, and personal interests, but also detailed notes on magic, his own creations, and various fascinating anecdotes. This notebook was undoubtedly one of the most precious legacies Clow Reed had left behind.

Still reading, Ren remarked with a hint of dry amusement, "Your Hell is really something else..."

Lucifer sighed, sinking onto the sofa beside him. A matching note of helplessness colored her voice. "Among those few... Never mind. At least Pandemonica is one of the more decent ones."

That comment made Ren look up from the notes, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. "Who else is there? But Pandemonica is quite alright, aside from her... peculiar personalities. And that's only considered 'decent'?"

"Of course," Lucifer confirmed with a nod. "You're not aware, but Pandemonica's second personality emerges the moment she drinks coffee. Even a single sip is enough to turn her into a complete sadist. And you wouldn't think demons in Hell are pacifists, would you?"

"So, she uses magic to kill?"

Lucifer shook her head, a weary expression on her face. "Her first personality would elegantly snap a person's neck. As for her second... well... she's a sadist. You understand what that entails, don't you?"

Ren nodded slowly, processing the information before his curiosity got the better of him. "So, who are the other 'decent' demons you mentioned?"

"Hmm..." Lucifer mused. "That girl Modeus is also very good. Despite being a succubus, she's completely clueless about romance and is instead intensely curious about it. She's quite the literary girl, but... if you make her unhappy... what do you think would happen?"

Ren gave it a moment of serious thought. "Torn to shreds?"

A corner of Lucifer's mouth twitched. "You're better suited to be a demon than I thought. But Modeus is even more outrageous. She'll smash people into a pulp with that giant hammer of hers."

Ren's own mouth twitched in response. "A literary girl?"

Lucifer nodded, a hint of awkwardness in her expression. "It's outrageous, I know, but it's true. Modeus loves to read, and her personality is genuinely gentle and simple. The problem is her curiosity is overwhelming. If you pique her interest, you'd better keep her engaged. Otherwise, you'll find the quickest way to make her angry..."

"The demons in your Hell certainly have strange reasons for killing people," Ren said with a helpless sigh. "They truly live up to the name..."

Lucifer considered this for a moment. "You can't say that. There are always a few who don't enjoy killing."

"Oh? Such beings exist? You're not talking about yourself, are you?"

Lucifer let out another sigh. "I don't particularly enjoy killing. In most cases, they'll just become my slaves... or a pile of skeletons... Pfft~ Ren... if you became a skeleton..." She trailed off, stifling a laugh.

"What?"

"Nothing... I was just going to say that if you became a skeleton, you'd definitely be a super handsome one!"

Ren sighed, dismissing the absurd image. "Let's not talk about impossible things. First, tell me about this demon who doesn't like to kill. It's definitely not Cerberus, I don't even need to think about that one."

"Eh? I thought you'd guess Cerberus," Lucifer said, surprised. "Why not? Because they're mischievous?"

Ren shook his head. "Because the first time I saw Cerberus, their immediate instinct was to pounce and bite. Besides, in any mythology, Hellhounds are never portrayed as kind and gentle creatures."

"You're right," Lucifer conceded. "Cerberus is responsible for guarding the gates of the Underworld. The three of them also symbolize 666, the number of the Devil. They'll tear people apart without a second thought. Of course, it usually depends on which of the three comes up with the suggestion... No, the one I'm talking about is Justice. The Awesome Demon, Justice. You know of her."

Ren thought for a moment, then nodded. "I do. You've mentioned her. The former High Prosecutor. She doesn't like to kill people?"

"Not at all," Lucifer said, shaking her head. "In fact, she just likes interesting things and is friendly to everyone, just as her name implies. That one's a pretty good person."

Ren nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "It sounds like she'll come looking for you soon enough."

"How do you know?"

"A hunch. You said she gets along well with everyone. Someone like that would surely notice that three very important people—Pandemonica, you, and Cerberus—are missing from Hell."

Lucifer nodded in agreement. "You're right. She already knows I'm here, but she doesn't know about you yet. If she did, though, she'd probably be thrilled to befriend you. I'm just worried she'll tell everyone else when she gets back to Hell. She loves new things and would probably run all over the place talking about it."

"I look forward to meeting this friend of yours," Ren said with a genuine smile. "But Lucifer, what are you doing now?"

"Hmm?" She glanced down at her phone. "Making a list for Pandemonica. Even though I'm making her pay for everything herself, she's still a future sister-in-law. It's such a headache."

"Are you so sure about that?"

"You have to believe in your own charm, and your ridiculous luck with romance," Lucifer said with a touch of exasperation. "Pandemonica definitely won't get away. But I'm starting to think Shion is a prophet. She had just given you that deadline, and then Pandemonica arrived. Ah, I'm truly impressed with her..."

"You make it sound like I'm some kind of hazardous material," Ren grumbled. "In any case, you two can go out together tomorrow. Courage and the others still need to buy daily necessities and decorations for their rooms."

"Hmm, got it," Lucifer acknowledged. "Oh, but I saw an Eevee today! It was so cute! It's a shame I didn't have a Poké Ball with me then..."

"You have one now?"

Lucifer nodded eagerly, pulling a Poké Ball from a small spatial rift beside her. "I bought a lot! I had no idea Poké Balls were so cheap."

"What currency did you use?"

"Gold, diamonds, gems, that sort of thing," she said with a casual wave of her hand. "To me, those things are no different from rocks."

Ren chuckled. "That's certainly true... But Lucifer, you demons are all extraordinarily wealthy."

"That's a given," Lucifer said, nodding. "Putting everything else aside, just by virtue of our age, if one of us went out and bought a simple bowl today, then took a nap, it could become a priceless antique by the time we wake up. Not to mention the countless treasures we've collected, but..."

"But what?"

Lucifer suddenly leaned closer, her voice dropping to a playful, conspiratorial whisper. "Ren, stop running this little restaurant. I'll support you~"

Ren glanced at her, a knowing smile spreading across his face. He wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer, and whispered back into her ear, "So you want me to say, 'Auntie Lucifer, I don't want to work hard anymore'?"

"Get out of here! Who are you calling auntie?" she retorted, swatting his arm playfully before breaking into a fit of laughter. "You should be calling me wife, not auntie! Pfft—Hahahaha! But that's actually quite interesting... Ren, say something nice, and the Queen will give you some pocket money~ Hahahaha! This is so much fun!"
