Eli punched Adrian's back several times, but the man seemed completely impervious to pain.
"I can walk by myself…"
Adrian chuckled. "You were quite well-behaved when Ulysses was holding you, but now you're struggling?"
Adrian had broad shoulders and long legs, making it easy for him to carry Eli without any apparent effort. Unfortunately, no matter how strong or tall he was, the position still pressed uncomfortably against Eli's stomach, leaving him feeling increasingly nauseated.
"I'm going to throw up," Eli warned. "If you don't put me down, I'm going to throw up all over your backside."
He wasn't joking. Adrian's shoulder was pressing directly against his abdomen, and the longer he remained in that position, the worse he felt. Fortunately, there was nothing in his stomach except nutrient solution, and even that had long since been digested.
Adrian fell silent.
