Three days passed in a flash. Zhou Yi stayed safely at home, beginning to enjoy a rare period of leisure.
After working hard in Huiyao City for more than two months, he finally returned to this comfortable little nest, and Zhou Yi felt a reluctance to move. Especially after he found that he had nothing to do, this lazy mentality grew even more.
As the chairman of the Sunflare Group, everything in the Sunflare Group and Huiyao City had already been put on the right track. It only needed Aida's control to maintain steady development. And the newly established mutant department also had Stacy at the helm, and they themselves were holding back their anger, wanting to accomplish something real. There was even less for Zhou Yi to worry about.
Now, his public identity could be a figurehead for a while, stepping back behind the scenes. So, the only thing he could do was take on the identity of the Dawn Knight.
But, this world was changing so dramatically. It was so big that even Zhou Yi felt like he couldn't keep up with the times. Because he just went out for a stroll one night, and he found that there were already many unfamiliar figures in New York City. And these unfamiliar figures were doing his original job.
Among them, a web-headed guy in a red and blue skin-tight suit was particularly eye-catching because this guy was very active. He was so active that Zhou Yi couldn't help but focus his attention on him.
In just one night, he used something like a spider web to go from Queens to Manhattan, and then made a big circle in Manhattan and returned. Along the way, he got involved in both theft and robbery. He even stopped a drunkard from assaulting another man.
This work attitude made Zhou Yi feel ashamed. You know, even when he was working the hardest, he wasn't like this guy, taking on everything, and getting involved in everything. No wonder Stacy couldn't help but issue a wanted notice for this guy all over New York. This guy was simply slapping the police in the face.
But that was a problem for Director Stacy, not his. Zhou Yi watched the newcomer busy himself all night with interest before quietly returning to his own place.
He didn't need to see the face under the newcomer's mask; Zhou Yi already knew his identity. Spider-Man, Peter Parker, a man destined to walk the path of a superhero.
This was one of the few guys Zhou Yi could remember. Unlike Tony Stark, Zhou Yi remembered him because he was a pretty pure guy, and everything he did stemmed from a single teaching: With great power comes great responsibility.
This was a simple saying, but it was very difficult to put into practice. In his remaining memories, there were only two heroes who could achieve this level: Captain America and Spider-Man.
Whether it was the future Iron Man or the group of mutants he had already met, they were actually just fighting for their own interests. Even he was no exception. Although he was already a world-renowned hero, he knew he wasn't that noble yet.
With Peter Parker as Spider-Man and a group of mutant police officers led by Rogue in New York City, Zhou Yi didn't have much room to intervene. However, he was very happy to see this happening. Because at his level, doing these small things felt like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
Not only did he feel awkward, but he also estimated that those guys who had been secretly watching him would also feel something was wrong. But these little guys had no such scruples at all. They needed to constantly hone themselves with these small things and gain fame and reputation from them.
Just as Zhou Yi had said when he taught them before, the turnaround of mutants must start with reputation. This concept had already been implemented in the hearts of these young people, so they worked very hard.
The sudden improvement in New York's security situation meant Zhou Yi had to settle into being a stay-at-home dad. Ever since becoming a father, he no longer enjoyed going to parties and dances like he used to. Without that particular hobby, he needed to find a normal one to fill his free time.
His chosen hobby was books, all sorts of ancient books from all over the world. He obtained any document or book related to myths, legends, and heroic epics through various legal and illegal channels, doing whatever it took to get them into his home.
Just looking at the list of these books and documents, one could tell that this wasn't simply a way to pass the time, especially considering the vast amount of manpower and resources he was spending. However, what his true goal was, no one could probably guess.
The people at S.H.I.E.L.D. were still racking their brains, and even Aida, who was handling the matter, was completely baffled. Even Zhou Yi, who had given the order, didn't actually know what he was looking for.
He only had a hunch. He hoped to find some clues about the gods from ancient documents, thereby finding a more controllable method for his nearly stagnant Divinity Power.
The Divinity Power in his body was constantly growing. He felt like a fledgling bird that had just hatched, changing every day. The problem with this change was that he didn't have a way to control this increasingly powerful force.
A power that couldn't be completely controlled couldn't be called his own. Zhou Yi was very clear about this, and he didn't want to be controlled by the power and that indescribable consciousness again one day, just like what happened in the Abyss.
He could destroy half of the Abyss, and he was very likely to cause irreparable harm to Earth. The Abyss was a desolate place, but Earth was not. Once his Divinity Power went berserk, the number of beings harmed might be impossible to count.
So he had to find a way to control this power, just like a fledgling had to learn to fly. However, finding a way to control it wasn't easy.
The talk of gods had been gone from this world for too long, so long that it was almost impossible to verify it just by looking at the documents. Although Zhou Yi held the most precious texts in the world, he didn't get anything useful from them.
Apart from absurd stories, there were only unverifiable legends. Fangcun Mountain, Penglai Island, Valhalla, the Tower of Babel, the holy places in myths from ancient and modern times, from China and abroad, from various regions, were now just stories recorded on paper scrolls. Even if these rare books described these mythical places in a realistic way, Zhou Yi couldn't find them anywhere on Earth.
Myth seemed to have completely drifted away from the human world, leaving only these books that could only serve as stories. And now, that's all they were.
"The flood submerged the world, and Noah found his crew. He shouted, 'Hey, you lot, the sailors, I, I'm a man who's going to the end of the world!'"
Zhou Yi was reading an ancient book about Noah's Ark, and he was currently spouting nonsense to his two daughters. He had miraculously turned the Smurfs and Puss in Boots into Noah's crew, and Noah himself had become a pirate king who wanted to rush to the end of the world.
Anyone with a bit of common sense knew that Zhou Yi was talking nonsense, which could be guessed from the strange expression on Aida's face and Serana's face, who was trying to hold back her laughter.
But these two could only hold back their thoughts, because the audience wasn't them, but a pair of little girls who were only eleven or twelve years old. At this moment, as the only two listeners, Shelly and Erisa couldn't tell the difference between the original and the fake. They listened intently and even thought this mythical story was the most interesting one they had ever heard.
Reaching this point, Zhou Yi was at his limit. He'd struggled to get the story this far, and he wiped the cold sweat from his brow as he spoke to the two girls.
"Alright, kids. That's about it for the story. You two should go to sleep now. Don't forget, tomorrow's Friday, and you have school."
"Daddy, can you tell us another one? I'm not sleepy at all!" The two girls were full of energy and kept wanting more. But facing his daughters like this, Zhou Yi couldn't bring himself to refuse. He thought for a moment and said,
"Alright, I'll tell you one more story. But after this, you have to go to sleep, understood?"
The two girls nodded obediently, looking very attentive. Seeing their adorable faces, Zhou Yi could only rack his brains and start another story.
"Once upon a time, a lonely old man in the mountains received a divinely bestowed seed. With a heart full of reverence, he planted the seed. A day later, seven gourds sprouted. And from those gourds, seven little dwarves appeared!"
"The seven little dwarves were all-powerful, with amazing abilities like mutants. They became the old man's children, until one day they met a girl named Little Red Riding Hood, who was being chased by a demonic wolf named Fenrir."
"Finally, Little Red Riding Hood became Snow White, and they lived happily ever after with the old man."
After another string of made-up stories, Zhou Yi finally got rid of the two clingy little girls. Serana, who had already started transforming into a housekeeper, had taken the two girls to wash up and dress. Aida, at this moment, was thoughtfully pouring Zhou Yi a cup of tea.
As Chinese people, both of them had the habit of drinking tea. And drinking tea often became a time for the two of them to chat.
"Boss, seriously, I really admire your ability. You've read so many books, but what you say is still a bunch of nonsense!"
Aida finally voiced the thoughts she had been holding back for a long time. For her, listening to Zhou Yi tell stories was simply a pleasure, just like watching a comedy.
"Myths were originally made up things; I just condensed the complex elements."
"I think you should publish a collection of stories, Boss. It would definitely be popular."
"I'll try it when I have time. Do you want to write it for me? I can add your name as an author."
"Forget it!"
