Chapter 167 - Chapter 166 Is Orochimaru not here?

According to what she had learned from the assistants in the Laboratory and Mio-neechan, Orochimaru had been using Shadow Clones for different research projects in the Laboratory for many years.

Sleep~!

What Uchiha Hikari looked forward to most every day was not eating or bathing, but sleeping with Orochimaru. All night long, they could lie on the same bed, feeling his breathing and body temperature, as well as his unique scent.

Uchiha Hikari left her room in a very good mood. Although it was her room, she had never spent a night there, sleeping in Orochimaru's room every day.

Is Orochimaru not here?

Uchiha Hikari pushed open the door and entered Orochimaru's room, finding him absent. She saw pages and pages of text on the desk and walked over curiously.

This is… Uchiha Hikari's eyes widened, and her delicate little face visibly reddened.

This… this was written by Orochimaru?

Uchiha Hikari could tell it was Orochimaru's handwriting, and she couldn't imagine him writing something like this.

No, I can't keep reading. It would be bad if Orochimaru saw me!

But, I'm so curious about what happens next!

Just as Uchiha Hikari was looking from the first page to the next, Orochimaru pushed open the door and walked in, witnessing the scene. He raised a hand to his forehead.

I should have put them away earlier… "Ah!"

Uchiha Hikari quickly let go, retreated a few steps away from the desk, and said in a flustered voice, "Um, I didn't see anything!"

"If you saw it, you saw it. However, this isn't for children to read. You're not allowed to peek again, understand? All the books I write are forbidden books; you can only read them when you're older."

Orochimaru said seriously, walking to the desk and tidying up the manuscripts on it. These were manuscripts to be sent to the publishing house for publication. He also needed to write another copy to send to Uzumaki Chigusa.

"I'm not a child anymore, I'm over a hundred years old!"

Uchiha Hikari corrected him. If counting by age, she had been an adult for a long, long time!

"So, you think you can read forbidden books now?"

Orochimaru looked at Uchiha Hikari's flushed little face out of the corner of his eye.

"No… nothing… I was just… curious… about what was written on it…"

Uchiha Hikari shook her head, clutching the corner of her clothes and muttering softly, carefully looking up to observe Orochimaru's expression.

"Hikari, I hope you can forget the time you were sealed underground. I know it's very difficult."

Orochimaru sighed, walked in front of Uchiha Hikari, and gently stroked her head.

He didn't care about being discovered writing forbidden books. What if he was discovered? He started writing forbidden books to make money, and now it was more for his eager readers.

He hadn't done anything outrageous. Not wanting to be discovered was for his image, but if he was truly found out, he wouldn't deny it.

"Orochimaru, I'm sleepy."

Uchiha Hikari hugged Orochimaru's waist, rubbing her head against his abdomen like a spoiled kitten.

"Hikari, you go to sleep first. I still have to work for a while; I promised to submit the manuscript tomorrow."

Orochimaru patted Uchiha Hikari's head, bent down, and picked her up in a princess carry.

"Oh…"

Uchiha Hikari let out a soft cry, instinctively wrapping her arms around Orochimaru's neck.

Orochimaru gently placed Uchiha Hikari on the bed, covered her with the blanket, turned on the kitten-shaped night light on the bedside table, turned off the room lights, turned on the desk lamp, and sat at the desk to continue writing.

Listening to the rustling sound of the pen touching the paper, Uchiha Hikari looked at Orochimaru's straight back. Already feeling very tired, she wanted to wait for Orochimaru to sleep together, but she couldn't resist the onset of sleepiness and fell into a deep slumber.

Hyuga Mio pushed open the door and entered the room. She was wearing conservative white pajamas, with her black hair cascading over her shoulders. She carried a steaming cup of medicinal tea and looked at Orochimaru, who was still writing furiously.

"Haven't you finished yet?"

Hyuga Mio walked over and placed the medicinal tea on the desk where Orochimaru's arm could reach it, glancing at the contents on the paper.

"Almost done."

Orochimaru would not affect tomorrow's schedule.

"With the money earned by White Snake Company, you don't need to write these kinds of books anymore, do you?"

Hyuga Mio couldn't help but ask the doubt in her heart. If at first it was to earn research funds, then the money he earned from writing books now was nothing significant.

"There are quite a few people who enjoy reading my books; I have to consider them."

Orochimaru would announce his retirement from writing at an appropriate time. He couldn't always spare time to write forbidden books. From when he started writing forbidden books until now, he was considered a relatively prolific author.

"That must be very tiring."

Hyuga Mio gently hugged Orochimaru's neck, her falling black hair intertwining with Orochimaru's dark hair.

"I feel fine; it's within my tolerance."

Orochimaru patted Hyuga Mio's arm and took a sip from his cup.
