Most of the Devourers were beastkin whose appearances were nothing like those of ordinary beastkin.
In a way, they were failed hybrids born from two different species. Some believed they were nothing more than living experiments, created to become weapons of destruction. Others believed they were simply failed beastkin who had come together and formed their own group.
"Do you think the man with the blue hair is one of the princes?" asked a Devourer whose body looked like a strange mix of a seahorse and a pufferfish. He held a black spear in one hand and a sturdy shield in the other.
"He looks a lot like Sybill, so he's probably one of her brothers who managed to escape!"
Azul, who was hiding only a short distance away, heard every word clearly. His brows drew together, and his grip on his spear tightened until his knuckles turned white.
"Those bastards..." he growled through clenched teeth. "It sounds like they're keeping Sybill locked up."
