Roxanna listened quietly, not wanting to interrupt him.
"But not everyone can control their shadow," Luan explained. "Some people can live together without any problems. They can even use its strength whenever they need it. But there are also people like me who have trouble controlling it."
His fingers slowly tightened around Roxanna's hand. "When my shadow wakes up, sometimes I can still see and hear what is happening, but I can't control my own body. Other times, I don't remember anything at all."
Roxanna immediately thought about what had happened last night. It finally explained why Luan had disappeared without knowing where he had gone, and why he had returned covered in so much blood.
"Then why did your shadow suddenly wake up last night?" she asked.
Luan went silent again. His eyes slowly moved toward the injured beastman on the ground.
"Because it sensed something familiar," he answered in a low voice.
