Chapter 57 - Mirror Guardian & The Spark of Jealousy

The Runestone Leaf was close.

Too close.

Elaris could feel it now — not just its power… but its pull.Like something calling her name from inside her own chest.

The labyrinth suddenly stopped shifting.

Silence fell.

Then—

Crack.

The mirrors around her shattered at once.

From the fragments, something began to form.

A towering figure stepped out of the broken reflections.

Silver armor.Crystal veins glowing beneath transparent skin.Eyes like fractured moons.

"The Mirror Guardian," Xyren's voice lowered.

Kael stepped forward instantly, blade igniting with a storm-flash.

"You don't fight this alone."

Elaris didn't respond.

Because the Guardian's face…

was hers.

Reflection of Fear

It moved like her.

Breathed like her.

But its wings were fully mechanical — sharp, blade-like, merciless.

"You are unstable," the Guardian spoke in her voice."Half magic. Half machine. Belonging nowhere."

The words hit harder than any weapon.

For a second—

She hesitated.

And the Guardian attacked.

First Strike

Kael blocked the blow.

Metal shrieked against storm energy.

The impact sent him sliding back, boots carving into the crystal floor.

"Focus, Elaris!" he shouted.

But Xyren's hologram flickered violently.

"It's feeding on your doubt. You must stabilize your neural core—"

Before he could finish, the Guardian slammed its wing down.

Xyren's projection distorted.

Glitched.

Almost disappeared.

Elaris's heart skipped.

"Don't touch him!" she snapped.

The Guardian tilted its head.

"Emotional dependency detected."

That one line—

Was enough.

Kael's jaw tightened.

"So that's what this is," he muttered.

Elaris didn't look at him.

She couldn't.

Because suddenly, illusions formed again.

Not of enemies.

But of moments.

Kael standing too close.Xyren's voice whispering softly at night.A future where one fades.A future where one betrays.

The Guardian spread its wings wider.

"Choose," it commanded.

"Power or attachment."

Jealousy Ignites

Kael lunged again.

Fierce. Reckless.

The Guardian blocked effortlessly.

"You fight for her," it observed."But she does not look at you."

Storm energy flared violently around Kael.

"Shut up."

Elaris felt it.

The tension.

The fracture.

Xyren's voice came softer now.

"You don't have to prove anything to anyone, Elaris."

And somehow…

That hurt too.

Breaking Point

The Guardian charged directly at Xyren's fading projection.

Instinct took over.

Elaris released the Bloodmoon Blossom's full pulse.

Crimson shockwave.

Illusions shattered.

But the backlash hit her hard.

Her hybrid veins glowed too bright.

Too unstable.

The Frostspire Fruit reacted automatically, freezing the ground beneath her to stop the overload.

The Guardian smiled.

"You see?" it whispered."You cannot balance both."

Elaris trembled.

Magic and machine warred inside her.

Kael reached for her—

At the same time Xyren called her name.

Two voices.

Two pulls.

Two worlds.

Her heart pounded.

And then—

She stepped forward alone.

"No," she said quietly.

The Guardian paused.

"I am not half of anything."

Her wings unfolded fully.

Flesh and circuitry merging perfectly.

"I am the bridge."

Final Clash

This time—

She didn't hesitate.

Bloodmoon. Frostspire. Hybrid core.

All synchronized.

The Guardian attacked.

She countered.

Every strike mirrored.

Every movement identical.

Until—

She stopped copying.

And created something new.

A pulse neither magic nor machine.

But both.

The Guardian froze mid-air.

Cracks spread across its body.

Its eyes flickered.

"You have… chosen…"

It shattered into silver dust.

Silence fell again.

The Runestone Leaf floated forward.

Soft. Emerald. Alive.

Elaris reached out—

But before her fingers touched it—

Kael grabbed her wrist.

Not harshly.

But firmly.

Storm in his eyes.

"If you take that… everything changes."

Behind her, Xyren's voice lowered.

"He's right."

For the first time—

They agreed.

The leaf glowed brighter.

And the labyrinth began collapsing.
