Chapter 79 - Crown of the Broken Storm

The storm had ended.

Or at least… it pretended to.

Rain fell in slow, hollow drops over the ruins of Neo-Virelia, washing blood into fractured glass, carrying sparks of dead code into silence. The Floating Plaza—once radiant—now lay shattered, its skyline broken like a forgotten promise.

At the center of it all—

Elaris knelt.

Kael lay in her arms.

Still.

Too still.

Her fingers trembled as they brushed against his face, cold beneath her touch. The faint flicker of lightning under his skin was barely visible now—like the last breath of a dying star.

"You said…" her voice cracked, barely a whisper, "…you said you wouldn't leave me."

No response.

The world felt… empty.

Something inside her broke.

Not loudly.

Not suddenly.

But completely.

A ripple tore through the air.

Darkness folded in on itself as two figures emerged from a fractured tear in space.

Nyvrix.

And Veydrin.

Unharmed.

Unshaken.

Veydrin stepped forward slowly, violet-black energy coiling around him like a living storm. In his hand—

The crown.

Ancient.

Glowing faintly with an otherworldly pulse.

Narvrix's lips curved into a satisfied smile."It seems the storm has finally died."

Elaris didn't move.

Didn't look at them.

Didn't even breathe properly.

Veydrin tilted his head, observing her like a distant curiosity.

"She loved him deeply," he murmured."That makes her fragile."

Narvrix chuckled."And irrelevant."

Veydrin raised the crown.

"Now… let's see what true power feels like."

The air tightened.

Energy bent toward him.

The crown began to glow—

Then—

Stopped.

Silence.

The glow flickered.

Dimmed.

And died.

Veydrin frowned.

For the first time—

Confusion.

"…Why?" he murmured.

He forced more energy into it.

Void energy surged, wrapping around the crown—

But instead of obeying—

The crown trembled.

Cracked.

A sharp, metallic sound echoed across the battlefield.

Narvrix stepped back slightly."What are you doing?"

"I am not failing," Veydrin said coldly.

But the crown—

Didn't listen.

It pulsed once.

Twice.

Then—

It vanished.

Elaris's breath hitched.

A sudden weight formed in her hand.

She froze.

Slowly—

She looked down.

The crown.

Resting in her palm.

Her fingers tightened instinctively.

"I… didn't…" her voice trembled, "…call this…"

The air around her changed.

A low hum spread outward, like something ancient waking up.

Narvrix's expression darkened.

"No… that's not possible."

Veydrin's gaze sharpened.

"…It chose."

Something inside Elaris snapped.

Her head lowered.

Tears fell silently onto Kael's face.

"They took everything…" she whispered.

Her grip on the crown tightened.

"…everything from me."

The crown responded.

Light burst outward—

Then twisted.

Her wings flared open—

Half radiant.

Half corrupted.

White feathers shattered into black crystal along the edges.

Her pulsecore burned brighter—

But unstable.

Violent.

Her eyes opened.

One blue.

One crimson.

Her voice echoed when she spoke—

Layered.

Distorted.

"They don't get to walk away."

The ground beneath her cracked.

Energy exploded outward in a violent surge, forcing Narvrix back several steps. Even Veydrin raised his arm to shield himself as the wave distorted the air around them.

"…Fascinating," he whispered.

Behind her—

Kael's body twitched.

A faint spark of lightning crawled across his fingers.

Unseen.

Unnoticed.

But alive.

Somewhere Else

Darkness.

Endless.

Silent.

Kael stood alone.

No storm.

No pain.

Just… void.

Fragments of memory flickered around him—

Elaris's voice.

Her smile.

Her scream.

"…Get up."

The voice wasn't his.

It echoed from everywhere.

Cold.

Ancient.

"…You're not done yet."

Lightning flickered weakly around his hand.

"…She's breaking."

His eyes widened.

"Elaris…"

The void shifted.

Something was coming.

Back to the Battlefield

Elaris moved.

Not like before.

Faster.

Sharper.

Deadlier.

She appeared in front of Narvrix in an instant, her hand glowing with chaotic energy as she struck.

The impact shattered his defensive sigil completely, sending him crashing across the broken plaza.

"IMPOSSIBLE—!" he roared.

Veydrin stepped forward—

Calm.

Interested.

"So this is what it looks like…"

He raised his hand—

Void energy clashed against her crown-fueled power.

The collision warped the battlefield again.

"…when power chooses emotion over control."

Elaris's expression didn't change.

Didn't soften.

Didn't hesitate.

She attacked again.

And again.

Each strike more unstable than the last.

More dangerous.

More destructive.

The city trembled.

Reality cracked.

And for the first time—

Even Veydrin was pushed back.

But something was wrong.

Her movements—

Too aggressive.

Too uncontrolled.

Her energy—

Spiking beyond safe limits.

Even the crown flickered violently.

She was losing herself.

Far away—

A faint voice broke through the chaos.

Soft.

Weak.

But real.

"…Elaris…"

Her body froze.

Just for a second.

Her eyes widened.

"…Kael…?"

FINAL HOOK

The crown pulsed violently.

The storm above Neo-Virelia roared back to life.

Lightning tore across the sky once more—

But this time—

It wasn't just a storm.

It was awakening.

And somewhere between life and void—

Kael Dravien opened his eyes.
