AURIXA silently leads the team deeper beneath Virelith.
The underground corridors begin to change.
Ancient vines slowly retreat from the walls.
Crystal veins illuminate one after another.
Massive living structures emerge from the darkness.
The city isn't made of stone or steel.
It has grown.
The buildings breathe.
The bridges slowly unfold from enormous roots.
Flower-like lanterns bloom overhead, casting a soft emerald light across streets untouched for thousands of years.
Nobody speaks.
Even the guards instinctively lower their weapons.
Then—
As Kael takes another step...
another section of the city awakens.
Windows brighten.
Water begins flowing through suspended canals.
Dormant bio-machines open their eyes.
It almost feels as if the city has been waiting for him.
Elaris notices it immediately.
Every light ignites only after Kael passes.
She says nothing.
But she doesn't miss it.
Xyren begins scanning everything around them.
The results completely contradict modern science.
No metal alloys.
No mechanical engines.
No electrical circuitry.
Everything is biological.
The roads heal when damaged.
The walls respond to touch.
Doors bloom open like flowers.
Floating seed-pods move silently through the streets, transporting people without engines or fuel.
One guard whispers,
"How is any of this still functioning?"
AURIXA answers calmly.
"Because nothing here was manufactured."
She pauses.
"It was cultivated."
Xyren slowly lowers his scanner.
For the first time in years...
he has no logical explanation.
The Crimson Heart Chamber
AURIXA suddenly stops.
They arrive before an enormous circular chamber.
Its entrance is surrounded by ancient Storm symbols intertwined with living roots.
The doors slowly open.
Everyone freezes.
The chamber is breathtaking.
Towering bio-pillars stretch toward a ceiling lost in darkness.
Thousands of glowing roots converge at the center...
where something should exist.
Instead—
There is only emptiness.
Gigantic organic conduits hang lifelessly, torn apart as though an immense organ had been ripped from the city's body.
The silence feels unbearable.
Kael finally speaks.
"What was here?"
AURIXA's voice becomes quieter than ever.
"The Crimson Heart."
Nobody moves.
Elaris studies the empty chamber.
"...Where is it?"
AURIXA answers without emotion.
"It is no longer here."
A pause.
"It was taken."
AURIXA begins explaining.
The Crimson Heart was never a power source.
It was the city's living core.
It synchronized every living structure.
Every guardian.
Every forest.
Every bio-machine.
Every memory.
Without it—
The city slowly loses itself.
Entire districts fall dormant.
Ancient knowledge disappears.
Living systems shut down one after another.
Even AURIXA has begun forgetting parts of Virelith's history.
Xyren quietly realizes the implication.
"This civilization isn't dead..."
"...it's suffering organ failure."
Nobody answers.
Because everyone knows he's right.
Suddenly—
The chamber trembles.
Ancient systems activate.
Not in defense.
In recognition.
A colossal interface of living crystal rises from the floor.
AURIXA places a hand upon it.
The display flickers.
Ancient text scrolls across its surface.
Then—
It changes.
CRIMSON HEART
STATUS: ACTIVE
Silence.
Every person in the chamber stares at the display.
Kael frowns.
"...Active?"
AURIXA's expression changes for the first time.
Confusion.
The display continues.
CURRENT LOCATION
UNKNOWN
The screen violently glitches.
For a fraction of a second—
A single coordinate flashes.
Then disappears.
Xyren immediately tries to recover it.
Too late.
Everything vanishes.
AURIXA slowly turns toward Kael.
"If the Crimson Heart is active..."
She hesitates.
Something she has not done until now.
"...then someone has begun restoring the Crimson Circuit."
The lights throughout the city suddenly flicker.
Far below...
Something answers.
A single heartbeat echoes through the darkness.
Thump.
