"What exactly is going on?"
"Indeed, it's not Lord Petyr, but the storm."
"Could it be that Lord Petyr's subordinates have betrayed him?"
"What is this situation exactly?" They looked at the Vale nobles and Lords at the very front; things were not simple.
The atmosphere on the dock immediately solidified. Many people were already trembling. The quartered banner represented the storm, not the lion and Stag of King Joffrey of the Iron Throne in King's Landing. This welcoming party was clearly problematic. Many wanted to slip away, but found that the private soldiers of House Grafton, House Arryn, and House Shett had begun to close ranks. They had chosen family soldiers, not Mercenaries.
Then Petyr made a comical entrance, not "walking," but being supported by others.
The man, who valued decorum and elegance, was no longer presentable; his plum-colored cloak had been stripped off, and the mockingbird emblem hung dejectedly. Petyr's body was clearly battered and beaten, his legs too weak to walk, and his clothes bore dust and bloodstains. Petyr's face was swollen and red, blood flowed from his mouth, and a cloth was stuffed into his mouth to prevent him from committing suicide.
Two Mercenaries guards coldly threw Petyr onto the dock, where he half-knelt. Then, sailors carefully brought Petyr's secretly carried cedarwood boxes, all of which were also brought to the dock. The Mercenaries stood behind Lothor, silently observing Littlefinger's fate.
Earl Jellico waved his hand, and someone went on board to give some gifts and rewards to the sailors. Although these sailors had escorted Petyr back to the Vale this time, they had very little involvement in his affairs and were of no great value. After receiving two gold dragons, the ship would leave the Vale for Braavos, continuing to seek their next client.
Lothor, Sansa, and Petyr were in place, and a good show was about to begin.
Petyr stammered, trying to speak, but with something stuffed in his mouth, he couldn't utter a word.
"My Lords, I forgot to tell you, we are not welcoming our good Lord Petyr now, but Petyr, who is involved in treason." Earl Jellico turned around and looked at everyone behind him with a smile.
"Who, who announced this decree?" A wealthy merchant asked with a pale face.
"It is my command." House Grafton's taxi soldiers made way. First, two Gold Cloaks Knights raised banners in front of Gendry. The banners were leaping golden quartered flags, with a golden background, dragons and Stags dancing together, a magnificent sight.
Then, three Knights on tall horses appeared in everyone's view. The tall, black-armored figure at the head slowly glided past from behind the welcoming crowd, like a bright sun.
"He's so tall." Sansa felt a slight breathlessness. She saw the most handsome young man she had ever encountered. The young man was very tall but not thin, possessing a warrior-like physique full of strength and beauty, appearing like a towering giant in the crowd. Sansa initially thought it was Renly, but later realized his temperament was distinctly different; Renly lacked this steel-like and courageous current, being more like a refined gentleman.
Anguy and Ser Barristan, the Kingsguard, flanked him on either side, like stars surrounding the moon, escorting Gendry. Ser Barristan's armor was gilded, finely forged, hard as ice, and bright as snow. He had a dagger at his hip, and his longsword on the other side, both hanging from a white leather belt with gold buckles. He also wore a white robe over his shoulders.
Anguy's armor, however, was a simple chainmail, making it easy for him to bend his bow and shoot arrows. Anguy carried a longbow on his back, and his red hair was like flames.
Most eye-catching, however, were the Stormcrows. Gendry wore a suit of black scale armor, forged from fine steel, as black as eternal night. Above his helmet were a leaping red dragon and a Stag, like the magnificent, branched antlers of a god. He was tall and robust, his jet-black, charcoal-dark short hair framing a cleanly shaven face. His blue eyes, filled with a smile, held not only warmth but also a flow of heroic spirit. Two weapons were tied to Gendry's horse: one was a strange longsword, the other a falcon's blade.
"Lords, the former master of coin, Petyr Baelish, is suspected of multiple crimes, including the murder of Lord Jon Arryn and inciting chaos in the Seven Kingdoms," Essenba Arryn turned back and announced loudly. This news exploded like thunder, creating sparks in the air.
The Lords, Knights, and nobles of the Vale, who had been forewarned or temporarily clued in by the three great Lords, all turned around. They looked at Littlefinger's cronies behind them with cold eyes. How many years had it been? Did Littlefinger truly think of himself as the master of Gulltown? The number of people who loved Littlefinger was equal to the number of nobles and Knights who resented him, but they were constrained by the favor of Lord Arryn and his Lady. But now? The great tree had fallen.
"I hope you will cooperate, Lords," Earl Jellico also turned his head, looking at these panicked people. Most of the Lords, nobles, and Knights of the Vale were relaxed and stood with him, observing the other distinct faction.
"What exactly is going on?"
"How could Lord Petyr betray the country?" Gendry watched the terrified, trembling rich merchants, brothel owners, dock merchants, granary merchants, and customs officials. These were Littlefinger's absolute base.
Although the Lords and Knights of the Vale had a good relationship with Littlefinger, it was only for the sake of gold dragons. Deep down, few truly respected him. Littlefinger knew this and tried to bribe and curry favor with the Lords, but he didn't trust them. Moreover, Littlefinger was now beyond redemption.
"Some of you are Petyr's friends, some are his subordinates. But now? Regarding Petyr's harming Lord Arryn and jointly embezzling state assets, I hope you will clarify things," Gendry said, his voice like steel.
Some of the wealthy merchants, brothel owners, and most of the customs officials in the Vale immediately knelt down, trembling all over, not daring to meet his gaze. Most of them had an unclear relationship with Littlefinger, but it was all about money. As long as they weren't implicated in treason, there was still a way out.
"Earl Jellico, how dare you harm us like this?" A bearded customs official, seeing that things were going badly, angrily cursed. Others might still have a chance to live, but as Littlefinger's stronghold, they were mostly doomed. The customs official tried to step forward and grab Jellico's clothes, but found that Earl Jellico had a layer of chainmail under his clothes, and his expression changed drastically.
"And you, Ser Essenba Arryn, you are Lord Petyr's friend."
"I was, but from the day I learned he incited that foolish Lysa to poison Lord Jon, I no longer am. We are the Arryns of Gulltown, and we are also Arryns," Essenba snorted coldly, his eyes burning with anger.
"Get out of the way!" Earl Jellico shoved the frantic customs official away, looking at him with disdain.
"Your father was killed by the King!" the man yelled.
"My father died for honor, and I am willing to live for honor. As for you, your time has come," Jellico replied. The surrounding guards entered, quickly pulling away the cursing official. Then came the clang of steel, steel colliding with steel, armor with weapons. With crisp sounds, the house soldiers of the three great families quickly pressed forward.
The blue robes and golden eagle soldiers of House Arryn of Gulltown, the seagull cloak taxi soldiers of House Shett, and the black and red cloaks soldiers of House Grafton. Most of them wore bright armor, showing excellent equipment levels, and they looked well-nourished, with burly soldiers. Gulltown was, after all, a wealthy place.
Gendry and Barristan, among others, rode forward, oblivious to everything around them. The game of power, this was a life-and-death struggle.
"We are innocent!"
"Save us, Lord Petyr!"
