The parking lot is packed. Students forming circle around Sam and Tory.
Phones recording. Atmosphere tribal and vicious.
This is what Lord of the Flies looks like in a high school parking lot.
Tory doesn't wait for dialogue. She charges.
Spiked bracelet glinting. Intent to maim clear.
Sam blocks instinctively. Miyagi-Do circular block. The training saves her face.
But Tory's relentless. Combination after combination. More street fighter than martial artist. Vicious. Personal.
The crowd roars approval.
And that's when everything explodes.
Hawk tackles Demetri. Old grudges erupting. "Traitor!"
Random freshmen swing wildly. Settling personal scores.
Cobra Kai vs. Miyagi-Do vs. students choosing sides or just wanting to fight.
The careful dojo techniques devolve into street brawl chaos.
I move immediately. Not fighting offensively. Intercepting dangerous moments.
Catch a kid mid-swing who would have hit someone's head against concrete. Redirect his momentum. Send him stumbling away.
Another student's punch heading for vulnerable target. I intercept with forearm block. Absorb the impact. Create space.
Smaller students being overwhelmed. I position myself between them and attackers. "Back off!"
It's like trying to stop avalanche with bare hands. But I keep moving. Keep intercepting. Keep protecting.

Miguel's fighting Robby.

I track them while managing other threats. Can't let them distract me but can't ignore them.
Then I see it. The moment that changes everything in the original timeline.
Miguel lands solid combination. Robby staggers. Backing toward the second-floor railing.
"No. Not happening. Not this time."
I abandon my position. Sprint through the crowd. Shoving bodies aside.
Reaching Miguel just as Robby recovers and throws desperation kick.
High kick. All his momentum. Aimed at Miguel's chest near the railing.
I intercept. Shoulder takes the impact. Pain explodes. Spinning me.
But I grab Miguel's gi as I spin. Pull him with me. Away from the railing.
We crash together on safe ground. Concrete. Painful but alive.
Robby freezes. Face pale. Realizing what almost happened.
"I didn't mean... I wasn't trying to..."
"I know." Breathing hard. Shoulder screaming. "It's over. Stop."
Miguel stares at the railing. Then at me. "You just..."
"Yeah. Can you stand?"
He nods. Shaken. We both get up.

Around us, the fight continues. Haven't stopped the chaos. Just prevented worst outcome.

Sam's defending well but tiring. Offense limited. Scared of seriously hurting Tory.
I sprint back. Position between them. "Enough!"
Tory doesn't stop. Bracelet comes at my face.
I block with forearm. Metal spikes rake across skin. Drawing blood immediately.
Pain sharp. Manageable. I use the moment to grab her wrist. Control the weapon.
"It's over. You won. You proved you're tougher." Voice firm. Commanding. "But if you keep going, you're catching assault charges. Expelled. Maybe juvie. Is Sam worth destroying your future?"
The calculation penetrates her rage. Barely. She's panting. Wild-eyed.
Aisha appears. Pulls Tory back. "He's right. Cops are coming. We need to go."
Tory spits at Sam's feet. "This isn't over."
But she leaves. And Sam collapses against me.
"You're bleeding."
"I'll heal. You're okay. That's what matters."
Around us, the fight's winding down. Teachers finally arriving. Police sirens approaching.
Students scattering. Running. Trying to avoid consequences.
But the damage is done.
Blood on concrete. Broken phones. Torn clothes. Dozens of students involved.
And somehow, impossibly, everyone's alive.

Miguel appears. Quiet. Shaken. "You saved me. I was going over that railing."
"I know. I couldn't let that happen."
"Why? Why risk yourself?"
"Because I've seen what happens if I don't. Because you're my brother. Because I'm here to prevent tragedies, not witness them."
"Because that's what family does."
He nods. Can't speak. Just squeezes my shoulder and walks away before he breaks down.
Robby approaches. Face pale. Guilt written in every line.
"I almost killed him."
"But you didn't. It's over."
"Because of you."
"Because we stopped. All of us. Together."
Teachers are shellshocked. Principal Martinez threatens expulsions for everyone involved.
Police taking names. Separating students. Determining who fights whom.
My injuries: Forearm lacerations (stitched), bruised ribs, facial contusion, shoulder strain.
Sam's injuries: Minor scratches, bruising, nothing requiring stitches.
Miguel: Uninjured thanks to intervention.
The cost is acceptable. Everyone's alive. That's the only victory that matters.

Daniel arrives minutes later. Sees Sam's scratches. My blood. The chaos.
Looks at me different. Not with suspicion. With recognition.
"You protected her."
"Best I could."
"And Miguel?"
"Him too."
Daniel extends his hand. I shake it. Understanding passing between us.
The dojo war might not be over. But something shifted in that parking lot.
We ride to the police station in separate cars. Give statements. Wait for parents or guardians.
Amanda shows up for me. "Family" status invoked.
Sits beside me through questioning. Holds my hand when I describe the violence.
Advocates fiercely when they suggest charges.
And when we finally leave at midnight, she hugs me tight.
"You're a good kid. Don't let anyone tell you different."
I collapse in my apartment at 1 AM. Exhausted. Injured. But alive.
Everyone's alive.
