"It's nothing serious," I said calmly to Helen, who was visibly worried about her daughter and the sudden commotion outside. "Let me take care of it. You should take a shower. Your hair's all sweaty."
Gia was still running around the pool, squealing and laughing as she tried to escape the group of kids chasing her with water guns. She was moving away from the bathroom area, giving me a clear path.
I quickly threw my t-shirt aside, not bothering to put it back on. I pulled up my underwear and adjusted it around my waist, then stepped out of the bathroom and headed straight toward the pool area with confident strides.
"Hey, runts! What the hell are you doing to her?" I shouted loudly at the group of kids, my voice carrying across the rooftop.
One kid with spiked hair stopped in his tracks and turned to face me, water gun still in hand. He looked me up and down with a cocky expression.
"Who the hell are you?" he shot back, clearly trying to act tough in front of his friends.
