"I will, Aria… but not today," I said as I kissed her on the lips. The kiss was slow and warm, enough to satisfy her for now without opening the door to more complications.
"Okay," Aria smiled and let me get out of the car. She didn't push further, though her eyes lingered on me as I stepped onto the sidewalk.
I bid her goodbye as her car left. The rain had stopped by now, and I had reached my building. The air still smelled of wet pavement as I walked toward the entrance.
I quickly took the elevator and reached my floor.
No one was in the hallway. Tiffany's door was locked. Sandra's door was locked. I reached my apartment door and opened it. Nadia hadn't locked it.
"Welcome back, sir," Nadia said as she greeted me in her maid uniform. She stood just inside the entrance, her posture respectful, yet there was a familiar warmth in the way she looked at me, as if my return had been something she had been quietly waiting for.
