The "Heavenly Ranking" had broadcast the news of Latias and Latios to the world, even exposing the Secret Garden of Alto Mare.
No matter how tight the Alliance's defenses or how alert the siblings were, there were bound to be "fish that slipped through the net."
However, the reward "Dominator of the Water Capital" effectively vaporized all hidden dangers.
With this power, not even high-level Legendaries would dare trespass! Inside the city, Latios controlled the very ocean and possessed the strength of a Tier-1 God. Any poacher with evil intent would be instantly exposed.
As for Latias's rewards—doubled growth and a telepathic link—they were straightforward. But Ash's reward, "Directional Hoop Placement Point +1," left the world puzzled. Aside from a few people who knew about Treecko's secret rewards, no one understood it yet.
Backyard of the Oak Institute: With a thought, Ash produced a golden hoop. He discovered he could now set two fixed exit points: one in the Forest of Treecko and the other in the Secret Garden of Alto Mare!
"Latias, can you hear me? Can we come over to play?" Through the telepathic link, Ash's voice reached across thousands of miles. 'Pika?!' Pikachu cheered. "She says we're welcome! Does everyone want to go?" Ash asked.
With the day's ranking over, the group eagerly stepped through Hoopa's simple hoop. They arrived in a paradise of flowers and lush greenery.
Beside the siblings were Kanone and Lorenzo. Latias happily circled Ash, nuzzling his cheek. "Haha! Latias, you're even cuter in person!" Red watched the spatial traversal with curiosity.
'Hoopa, huh... if I caught him, could I travel the entire world instantly?' Hoopa—Danger Level: High!
The group spent a joyful evening in the garden. Because Ash had business to attend to, they eventually said their goodbyes.
Ash also sent Treecko back to his forest; with Red's custom training plan and items from the Heavenly Store, the "Homicidal Sceptile-to-be" could now train effectively on his own.
Evening at the Ketchum Residence: Misty, Brock, and Red returned to Ash's house. Mewtwo (Red's) didn't stay at the Fountain of Life tonight; he was curious about the rankings and stayed with Red.
Ash's house was surprisingly spacious. Misty and Ash shared one room (with bunk beds), while Brock and Red shared another.
Red wanted to discuss "breeder skills" with Brock and needed help navigating the internet for more ranking videos. When not in "LSP mode" (simp mode), Brock was the most reliable person in the trio.
While Ash and Misty slept soundly, a blue light flickered in Ash's room. Red's Poke Ball twitched. Red, who was currently addicted to watching Ash's future journeys on a laptop, glanced toward the room. 'He's here... arriving so late. Ash really carries weight in his heart.'
Powerful Pokémon sense each other. Red's Mewtwo knew a guest had arrived, but Red didn't interfere. He was currently fascinated by Ash's future: the Charizard that went from disobedient to a god-slayer in the Charicific Valley, and Sceptile, the "God-Slayer."
Most importantly, he saw Pikachu's 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt. 'Interesting... a Z-Move? My Pikachu only has a "Pika-Pika Finisher."' He also noted Pikachu's "reset" ability.
'His potential is infinite. I should make Pikachu's training even harsher. After all, we have the Fountain of Life... let's see his limit. Acting weak is a bad habit, Pikachu.' In his sleep, Pikachu shivered, sensing a nightmare approaching.
The Next Morning: Ash woke up early for Gary's match. A blurry silver-purple silhouette stood by his bed. Ash rubbed his eyes, thinking it was a hallucination. It became clear. "E-E-E-EH?! Mewtwo!" Mewtwo stood with arms crossed, eyes surprisingly soft. 'Good morning, Ash.'
Misty woke up to the noise. "What's the—E-E-E-EH!!" Delia and Brock rushed in from the kitchen. Brock screamed just as loud.
This wasn't Red's Mewtwo; the temperament was different—softer, with the aura of a leader. Delia, however, just had one thought: 'I need to make more rice for lunch.'
Red walked out calmly, having known Mewtwo arrived last night. After a brief introduction, Mewtwo voluntarily entered Ash's Poké Ball.
It was a mere formality; no ball could hold him. From this day on, he was "S-Mewtwo" (Ash's Mewtwo), while Red's was "R-Mewtwo."
At the Oak Institute: "Ash, you're early! Gary's match is in an hour. Why aren't you at the stadium?" Professor Oak asked. "No worries! Mewtwo can use Teleport!" "Professor, look at my new partner!" Ash tossed a Poké Ball, and Mewtwo appeared.
Oak was stunned. "Ash, you... when?" "He came by last night!" After the shock wore off, Oak spoke seriously. "Ash, his power far exceeds yours.
Promise me, don't use him unless it's a life-or-death situation." "Eh? I wanted him to try a match in the Top 8!" Oak: 'Poor opponents...'
'I will fight once and then stop,' Mewtwo projected. 'I want the world to know I stand by Ash. It will discourage those who want to harm him while Red isn't around.' Oak conceded. It was a good deterrent. Poor Lily, Ash's next opponent.
At the Fountain of Life: The two Mewtwos arrived at the fountain. S-Mewtwo took a sip and was shocked by its restorative power. 'Ash's Mewtwo, stay here with me when you're free,' R-Mewtwo projected.
'I promised Ash I would train you.''Train me? We don't even know who is stronger!' S-Mewtwo replied, his competitive spirit flaring. 'Same personality, I see... Fine. Let's settle it in the sky, or we'll destroy the lab.''Deal!'
Ash watched in confusion as they soared upward. "Wait! Weren't you going to teach him?!" "Don't worry," Red patted Ash's shoulder. "Just a friendly spar. My Mewtwo is bored."
Ten minutes later, the two returned. The shockwaves had cleared every cloud in the sky. S-Mewtwo was heavily injured—his tail was partially severed, and his body was covered in gashes. R-Mewtwo was also bruised, though less severely.
Ash turned pale. "You call this a spar?! He's almost dead!"
