In the footage—
Ash and his friends were bewildered by Max's claim, but Queen Ilene and her elderly handmaid knew the truth. It turned out that the people of Cameron Palace had known of Mew's existence for generations.
Mew was known to appear before the townspeople from time to time, though it was a master of transformation, and few had ever seen its true form. A local legend even said that seeing Mew would bring good fortune.
However, Max wasn't thinking about luck. Pikachu had been taken by Mew, and they had to find him immediately! May was skeptical of her younger brother's story until Kidd Summers emerged from a corridor, confirming Max's account.
According to Kidd, Mew had transformed into a Pidgeot and flown away with Pikachu and a Meowth.
The hidden Team Rocket duo immediately grew worried for Meowth. They came to steal Pokémon, but their own teammate was the one who got "stolen"!
Queen Ilene led the group to an observation deck outside the palace, where the silhouette of the Tree of Beginning was visible.
From a distance, it looked like a mere mountain peak, and it was said that no one had ever reached it. Even though it looked close, the paths leading there were a labyrinth.
A mysterious power seemed to guard the way, causing travelers to lose their sense of direction and end up back where they started. Without Mew to guide the way, reaching the Tree was virtually impossible—under normal circumstances.
"Lucario can use Aura to perceive the surroundings. It is said that even in total darkness, he can show the way for the Hero." "With Lucario's Aura to guide you, you should be able to find the Tree of Beginning." "So... Lucario, will you lead them there?"
Ilene spoke gently. Despite being a Queen, she respected Lucario's autonomy. If he refused, they would have to find another way.
However, looking at Ilene—who was the spitting image of Queen Rin—Lucario felt a deep sense of loyalty. He knelt in a formal salute. 'I shall obey the Queen's command!'
The worry that had clouded Ash's face since Pikachu vanished finally lifted slightly. With Lucario's help, they would find Pikachu soon! Kidd Summers, now dressed in athletic gear, stepped forward to help as well. Brock's "beauty radar" immediately pinged; he recognized her as a world-famous adventurer.
Kidd smiled apologetically. "Actually... I'm the reason Mew took Pikachu." "As Brock said, I'm an adventurer. I came here to uncover the secrets of the Tree of Beginning.
When I saw Mew, I tried to plant a transmitter on it. My Weavile was a bit too rough, which triggered a reaction from Pikachu. He got hurt in the scuffle, and that's why Mew took him away to protect him..."
Kidd apologized sincerely. She wasn't a villain; she was just a passionate explorer who had made a reckless mistake. Ash, being his typical forgiving self, didn't hold a grudge. The group decided to rest and depart that very evening.
[Lance: Looks like Kidd isn't a villain after all! So who's the antagonist of this inventory?]
[Agatha: Can't you think of anything else? Maybe there isn't one?]
[Lorelei: Ignore him. It's an occupational hazard for an investigator; everyone looks like a suspect to him.]
[Professor Oak: So they're heading into the Tree of Beginning? We'll finally see what the interior looks like. That should satisfy Kidd's curiosity.]
[Kidd: Yes, Professor. I won't try to spy on the Tree again! I'm sorry for what my future self did...]
In the footage—
While the group prepared, Lucario stood in a dark hall staring at a portrait of Sir Aaron. Ash approached him, and Lucario reflexively pinned him down before realizing who it was.
Ash didn't mind and smiled brightly. "I'm counting on you tomorrow, Lucario. I have to get Pikachu back!" 'Are you that Pikachu's master?' "Master? No, we're friends." 'Friends?' "Yeah! Very close friends! When a friend goes missing, you worry about them! You feel the same way, right, Lucario?"
Lucario went silent. Ash's words reminded him of Aaron. They were once that close. 'I am only helping you because the Queen ordered it.
Don't misunderstand.' Lucario walked away. Ash scratched his head, thinking, Is this dog a bit of a tsundere?
[Korrina: Ahaha, this Lucario isn't very honest! He clearly wants to help Ash, but he blames it on Queen Ilene!]
[Cynthia: Hehe, that's a Lucario's unique charm.]
In the footage—
The group set off. Lucario led the way on foot while Kidd drove an off-road vehicle behind him. The fog was thick, and visibility was near zero. Without Lucario, they would have been lost within a hundred yards.
Ash asked about Aura, and Kidd explained: "...Aura exists in all living things as life energy. Those who can manipulate it are called 'Aura Guardians.' Sir Aaron was a legendary guardian. They can communicate telepathically, sense terrain, and detect life forms."
She noted that while most Lucario can use Aura, this one's control was exceptionally refined—truly a Hero's partner.
May then remembered what Lucario said earlier. "Didn't Lucario say Ash's Aura is the same as Aaron's? That means Ash has huge potential to be an Aura Guardian too!"
Ash looked at his hands, excited by the thought. Suddenly, the car hit a major bump. Ash hit the roof, and May, sitting next to him, was tossed into his side.
Her face flushed red, but seeing Ash rubbing his head in pain, she giggled. "Guess it's a bit early for you to be a legendary Hero~" "You're right. I should learn to sit still first..." Ash held onto the safety rail with one hand and used the other to steady May, making sure she wouldn't get jolted again. May, in turn, held onto Max.
[Catlin: Oh? Ash has waked up? He knows how to look after a girl?]
[Diantha: It was probably just instinct. Look, May is holding Max the same way.]
[Drasna: Ash's move toward May was instinct; May's reaction might be something more~]
[Norman: Ahem! Anyway, can Ash actually learn to control his Aura? Having a pool of energy is one thing, but it's useless if he can't tap into it.]
In the footage—
As Kidd drove, two stowaways—Jessie and James—were suffering in the trunk. They wanted to catch Mew, but more importantly, they wanted Meowth back.
The scene then cuts to a place of flowers and birds: The Tree of Beginning. Meowth was boredly playing with toys while Pikachu rested on a bed of leaves.
Mew had treated Pikachu's injuries, and when he woke up, the two started playing together. Meowth eventually stumbled upon an "elevator" vine that took them to the very top of the Tree.
The view from the summit was breathtaking—a landscape beyond human imagination. But looking at the beautiful scenery, Pikachu felt a pang of loneliness. He wished Ash were there to see it with him...
[Lance: We're seeing the interior of the Tree before the characters even get there!]
[Cynthia: It's a stunning place. The environment seems pristine.]
[Karen: You're all looking at the scenery, but I'm looking at Pikachu's sad eyes. He misses Ash.]
At Professor Oak's lab, Ash hugged Pikachu tight. "We'll never be apart, Pikachu!" "Pika-pi!" Never!
In the footage—
The perspective returned to the group as morning broke. Even though they were in a rush, they had to stop for food and rest. Kidd wasn't a superhuman like Ash and was exhausted from driving through the night.
During the break, they encountered a Bonsly that liked to fake-cry. It stole some of Brock's cooking, but eventually decided to tag along, likely because Brock's food was too good to pass up.
Later, they reached a hot spring near a geyser. May suggested they relax for a moment. Ash, seeing how tired Kidd and the others were, agreed.
As he soaked, he thought about how much Pikachu would have loved the water. Nearby, Lucario stared at the springs, remembering the times he had soaked there with Sir Aaron a thousand years ago...
Note:I have adjusted two points from the original movie: 1. The Tree of Beginning is visible but protected by a spatial labyrinth to explain why no one has reached it by air or land for centuries.
2. Kidd Summers is portrayed as less of a cold scientist and more of an earnest adventurer who admits her mistakes early to improve her character's likability.
