Chapter 222 - The Space God’s Embarrassment

In the midst of all the attention, Ash in the image also began to ask Palkia for help.

As the surrounding space continued to shrink and distort at an alarming rate, the pressure in the air became suffocating.

Even the Legendary Pokémon present could feel the terrifying instability of space itself, and it was clear that if nothing was done soon, everything would be swallowed by the collapse.

In the Footage—

looking at the continuously shrinking space, Ash raised his head and urgently called out to Palkia.

"Please, Palkia! Let's restore the space here to normal!!" His voice carried both determination and desperation because at this moment, Palkia was their only hope.

As the Pokémon that governed space itself, there was no one more suitable to resolve this crisis.

"Roar!" Palkia responded with a powerful roar, immediately understanding Ash's request. Since Ash had asked, there was no way he would refuse.

As the God of Space, repairing space should have been something trivial for him. At least, that was what everyone believed.

A pink-purple energy slowly surged from Palkia's body, gradually intensifying as it gathered into his arm.

The surrounding air began to tremble as the energy reached its peak, and then, in a single instant, it erupted outward with overwhelming force. This was one of Palkia's signature abilities—Spacial Rend.

In that moment, the very fabric of space seemed to tear open. A sharp, glowing blade of pink-purple energy slashed forward, cutting through the void and striking directly against the constantly shrinking purple-black space wall.

The power contained in that attack was immense, and under normal circumstances, it would have been enough to tear space apart entirely.

However, the result that followed left everyone stunned.

There was only a ripple.

The collapsing space showed no signs of slowing down. In fact, as if provoked by the attack, the distortion seemed to intensify, and the speed of the collapse increased even further.

The purple-black walls of space continued closing in, showing no mercy.

"Roar?" A trace of disbelief appeared on Palkia's face, and for the first time, a faint cold sweat formed on his forehead.

He immediately gathered more power, refusing to accept this outcome. Once again, he channeled all his remaining strength into another Spacial Rend, slashing forward with even greater force.

The blade tore through the void once more, striking the collapsing space with tremendous power. But the result remained unchanged.

It was still useless.

At this moment, the expressions of everyone present completely changed. The situation had taken a turn no one had expected.

Even Palkia himself took two steps back, staring at his own hand as if questioning reality. For a brief moment, even he began to doubt himself.

Was he really the God of Space?

"How… how could this be?" Clemont muttered, his voice filled with confusion. "Isn't Palkia supposed to be the Pokémon that governs space? Why can't it stop the collapse?" His understanding of everything he had learned about Legendary Pokémon was being shaken.

...

[Lance: Ah… what is going on here?]

[Flint: I don't get it, but this is shocking!]

[Caitlin: The God of Space can't control space… this isn't funny at all!]

[Brandon: Hoopa using its rings to summon Palkia in the first place was already unusual… but this situation is even more strange.]

[Lucian: This is worse than strange. Even if Palkia couldn't completely fix it, we could at least say he tried. But now? He used Spacial Rend, and the collapse actually got faster! How do you even explain that?]

[Drake: Cynthia, do you understand what's happening here?]

[Cynthia: …This feels like Lance's fault.]

[Diantha: Yes, I agree. That explanation is very clear—Lance's fault.]

[Lance: …Hey! It can't all be blamed on me! Didn't Cynthia and Flint also say Palkia would be fine?!]

Lance looked completely wronged, as if he had been unfairly dragged into the situation. If he had known things would turn out like this, he would have chosen to remain silent from the beginning.

[Professor Oak: The reason is actually quite straightforward. Palkia has just gone through an intense battle, so its energy hasn't fully recovered. More importantly, the cause of this spatial collapse is not something simple.]

[Professor Oak: The distortion is the result of multiple Legendary Pokémon appearing and fighting in the same place. Their immense energy fields have overlapped and interfered with each other, destabilizing space itself.]

[Professor Oak: Even though Palkia is the God of Space, the scale of the energy involved here is far too large. A single Palkia, especially one that is not at full strength, cannot completely suppress it.]

Professor Oak's explanation immediately clarified the situation. It wasn't that Palkia was weak—it was that the combined power of so many Legendary Pokémon was simply too overwhelming.

Additionally, Palkia was not in peak condition, making it even more difficult to handle such a massive disturbance.

Even so, the situation was still extremely awkward.

The God of Space, being unable to control space, was simply too embarrassing.

Some people even joked that this was worse than Groudon not being able to fly. After all, Groudon was a Ground-type Pokémon—there was nothing wrong with it not flying. But Palkia? That was entirely different.

[Lucian: Then what should Ash and the others do now?]

At first, everyone thought this was just a minor crisis. With Palkia present, space distortion didn't seem like something to worry about. But now, with Palkia unable to fix the situation, the crisis had escalated to its peak.

The surrounding purple-black space continued to twist and collapse inward, leaving no room for escape. If this continued, everyone present—including Ash, the civilians, and even the Legendary Pokémon—would be crushed into nothingness.

[Professor Oak: If one God of Space is not enough… then perhaps two are needed.]

Although many people didn't fully understand what Professor Oak meant, Ash in the image had already taken action.

In the Footage—

as the citizens panicked and the space continued collapsing, Ash suddenly looked at the Prison Bottle in his hand. A flash of inspiration crossed his mind, and he quickly turned toward Hoopa.

"Hoopa, if you return to your original form, and with Palkia's help, can you keep opening multiple rings for everyone to escape?" His tone was urgent, but also filled with hope.

"Hoopa can try!!" Hoopa immediately agreed without hesitation.

Ash quickly opened the Prison Bottle, allowing Hoopa to transform back into its Unbound form. Almost instantly, six golden rings appeared in the air, floating around them.

These rings represented Hoopa's spatial ability, capable of opening pathways to distant locations.

Ash nodded toward Palkia, and Palkia immediately released its own spatial power, directing it toward the rings.

Under the combined influence of both spatial forces, the rings began to stabilize, and one by one, they opened into passageways leading outside.

"Everyone! Move now!" Ash shouted.

At his command, the crowd rushed toward the rings. The scene quickly became chaotic, as people desperately tried to escape before the space collapsed completely.

Fortunately, Mewtwo stepped in and used its Psychic power to maintain order, ensuring that the evacuation proceeded smoothly.

At the same time, Mewtwo used its abilities to accelerate the movement of the crowd, making the evacuation far more efficient. It seemed that, despite the dire situation, the crisis might finally be resolved.

However, one thing was certain.

The Desert Tower, the last remaining structure of Dahara City, would not survive.
