Chapter 303 - The Roar of the Valley King and the Clash of the Dragons

Ash finally forced out the third Pokémon of Brandon. Now, judging from the number of remaining assets, it is Ash who has the upper hand! After all, now Ash has three Pokémon left, while Brandon only has two.

However... the physical strength of Ash's Squirtle and Bulbasaur is already quite unhealthy. Plus, the information from the previous records showed that Squirtle and Bulbasaur changed out for the Solrock of Brandon!

The battle begins. Ash directly asks Squirtle to use the Water Gun to test the field.

However, it was directly blocked by the other party's Psychic power! Then he lets Squirtle use his powerful Skull Bash, but it still had no effect. Solrock directly used its mental power to block the move and instantly threw Squirtle out!

The Pokémon of the Psychic system are all quite tricky beings. As long as their superpowers are strong enough, they can repel almost any attack!

Now Ash has encountered such a situation. Brandon's Solrock is actually a little stronger than Squirtle in terms of raw power. Furthermore, that tricky superpower shield made it impossible for Squirtle to get close to it!

But... superpowers aren't completely invincible either! As long as you force them to use superpowers continuously… flaws will definitely be exposed!

Ash decided to gamble. He lets Squirtle, who has little physical strength left, put all its power into a non-stop attack! Immediately afterwards, Squirtle begins a stormy offensive! Water Guns, Hydro Pumps, Water Pulses, one attack after another!

Brandon was also stunned by Squirtle's desperate playing style. If Solrock hadn't learned to use Protect, facing the opponent's violent storm would only speed up its own defeat! But there are no ifs in the world. Solrock happened not to know Protect.

Under the pressure of the opponent's violent storm, its superpower was difficult to maintain. In the end, it lost a lot of health to the offensive. Water-type moves are very effective against the Rock and Fire traits of Solrock!

But... in the end, Squirtle was still exhausted, and its offensive stopped. Brandon seized the opportunity and knocked Squirtle to the ground with a Shadow Ball.

Then, taking advantage of the time when the turtle was struggling to get back up, he directly fired a Solar Beam to take away the last bit of its physical strength.

After Ash took back Squirtle, he re-released Bulbasaur. The two sides fought a fierce battle, and in the end, they both knocked each other out and lost their ability to fight!

As for the last battle… ninety-nine percent of the world's people have already seen it. That's Pikachu vs. Regice! This is the exact game that was broadcast when the first inventory arrived.

It's Pikachu's most famous battle! In this battle, countless people lost their betting points. In this battle, Pikachu laid the foundation for his special title! Later, this title was transformed into the legendary name of the Skin God!

[Lance: Brandon must feel like those old memories are starting to attack him all over again!]

[Diantha: Hahaha! I laugh every time I see it. Using a legendary Ice titan to fight a base-stage electric mouse, and even relying on a Rest strategy, you must feel so embarrassed! The most important thing is that you still lost! Hahaha!]

[Brandon: ...]

[Blue: This Pikachu is indeed powerful, and its battle capacity has clearly exceeded the standard limits of its race, just like Red's Pikachu. But… it is still a bit far from Red's Pikachu, and it remains unknown whether it can truly grow to that absolute level in the future.]

[Red: I suggest you refrain from speaking right now. If you want to talk, it is best to check the full details of the previous records first. Though it is already too late; your sentence will be saved on the network and become a unique highlight of you getting your face slapped in the future.]

[Blue: …?]

On the screen, after the battle against Brandon concludes, the footage slowly dims. Several lines of text reappear on the interface.

[Ash traveled to the Unova region. After competing in the Vertress Conference, they received a new directional prompt—the Dragonspiral Tower! Rumors state that active traces of the legendary Reshiram have been discovered there!]

[Ash and his companions met their new friend, N, along the journey. Soon after, the group arrived at a town hosting the Kanto Fair.]

[As the name implies, the event featured exhibits showcasing the distinct culture, specialties, and Pokémon native to the Kanto region. Here, Ash and his friends spotted a Charmander, one of the classic starter choices for new Kanto trainers.]

[Seeing the Charmander caused Ash to deeply miss his own partner, prompting him to contact Professor Oak to swap Charizard back onto his active roster.]

[Ultimately, Ash learned from Professor Oak that his Charizard had successfully claimed the position of the undisputed King of the Charicific Valley, fully completing its intensive training regimen!]

[The chronicle of the fully realized Charizard begins from this exact moment...]

[Lance: The Unova region... wouldn't this segment align with the historical confrontation against Reshiram?]

[Alder: It matches up perfectly. Ash and his friends just met N and are charting a course for the Dragonspiral Tower, which is the exact location where Reshiram's seal rests!]

[Flint: No wonder that fire dragon looked so incredibly dominant during that era! It was literally operating as the supreme king of the entire Charicific Valley!]

[Leon: From this milestone onward, Charizard should be charting a path of absolute, unparalleled power! I am genuinely looking forward to the moment Ash's Charizard directly collides with mine!]

In the footage—

Ash arrives at the Pokémon Center, swapping his Unfezant out to bring Charizard back onto his active belt. Cilan and Iris display an immense amount of interest in the classic Kanto ace. The group shifts to the open-air battlefield outside the facility, where Ash formally releases Charizard.

The two friends, separated for a vast stretch of time, share a heartwarming reunion. Pikachu is also ecstatic to see his oldest companion and first partner.

Following their close interaction, Ash proudly introduces Charizard to Cilan and Iris. Charizard happily responds by blasting a roaring torrent of crimson fire straight into Ash's face, charring him black from head to toe.

Under the shocked stares of his companions, Ash simply shakes his head, instantly dusting off the black soot.

Not even the hat resting on his head sustained a single fraction of structural damage! Not only is the trainer a super-human entity, but his clothing is constructed from an indestructible material!

This must be the ultimate protective gear crafted by the mother of a super-human newcomer, boasting a durability stat that can survive an entire global tour without tearing!

Following his conversation with Charizard, Ash proceeds to release the rest of his Unova roster so they can familiarize themselves with their senior partner. Seeing the interaction, Cilan and Iris deploy their teams as well.

What was supposed to be a pleasant, welcoming introduction instantly shifts in tone. One of the Pokémon released by Iris glares with intense hostility straight at Charizard, a literal fire of competitive rage burning in its eyes! This Pokémon is the classic powerhouse of the Kanto region—Dragonite!

Unlike a conventional, gentle Dragonite, the individual under Iris's command is completely distinct. Not only are its eyes filled with a fierce intensity, but its facial features look deeply aggressive! It completely lacks the friendly demeanor typical of its species.

Finding itself targeted by a hostile glare, Charizard—who has ruled as the undisputed King of the Charicific Valley—naturally refuses to tolerate the disrespect.

It returns an equally terrifying, dominant gaze, locking its eyes onto the dragon without showing a single trace of weakness.

Looking at the raw tension breaking out between them... it looks as though they are prepared to start a brutal brawl without a single word of warning!

[Lance: Oh? Iris actually commands a Dragonite! What a brilliant, promising young girl!]

[Professor Kukui: That is an exceptionally aggressive Dragonite. Its raw temperament looks far fiercer than any of the assets under Mr. Lance's command. Can a young kid truly command its obedience?]

[Drayden: Have no fear on that account. When it comes to Iris, there will be zero issues. That child possesses an innate, supreme affinity for guiding dragon-types.]

In the footage—

The highly aggressive Dragonite continues to actively provoke Ash's Charizard. Operating with the pride of the Charicific Valley King, coupled with its naturally volatile temper, Charizard is completely unwilling to overlook the challenge, preparing to clash right on the spot.

Ash and Iris quickly step in to restrain their partners. Realizing that words are completely failing to defuse the tension, Ash simply proposes an official battle!

Since there is no way to suppress their competitive drive, a structured match is the cleanest way to let them vent their physical aggression, right?

"A friendly battle is an excellent alternative. It appears Dragonite instinctively sensed the overwhelming power radiating from Charizard, which is precisely why it initiated the provocation," N notes, stepping in to act as the neutral mediator and referee for the set.

With both trainers taking their respective positions across the arena, Iris claims the opening turn.

"Dragonite, Flamethrower!"

"Using a fire-type attack against Charizard? We will meet it head-on—Flamethrower!"

Two massive, dense torrents of roaring fire erupt simultaneously from both sides of the arena! Fire collides directly with fire! The sheer intensity of the thermal output forces N and Cilan to shield themselves from the radiating heat even at a distance.

Within a fraction of a second, the volume of Charizard's flame expands, completely overpowering Dragonite's stream and crashing directly into its heavy frame!

"Roar!!"

Dragonite lets out a low grunt of pain. While fire-type attacks only deliver a resisted damage output against its typing, the sheer level and raw power backing Charizard's flame are simply too high to ignore!

"Hang in there, Dragonite! Use your wings to violently blow the flames away!"

Dragonite rapidly beats its wings, generating a massive gust of wind to force the residual embers off its skin.

"Iris, you still have a vast amount of tactical experience to acquire!" Ash calls out. "Deploying a fire-type move against a seasoned Fire-type like Charizard is bound to result in a deficit. Charizard, take flight!"

Operating as an elite veteran who has conquered four distinct regional circuits, Ash is no longer the reckless greenhorn of his early years. With his extensive credentials, he is more than qualified to offer guidance to a rising trainer like Iris!

"Roar!!"

Charizard executes a flawless, sweeping turn. The massive wings on its back snap open, launching its body into the upper stratosphere like a bolt of lightning!

"Hmph! An absolute child like Ash has zero right to lecture me! Dragonite, don't let him escape, pursue them!"

"Groan!"

Dragonite shakes its slightly dazed head, snaps its wings open, and launches into a rapid pursuit! The two massive powerhouses engage in a spectacular aerial chase high above the arena, cutting sharp angles across the sky without yielding an inch of airspace to each other!

"Dragonite, use Thunder Punch!"

Iris's voice rings out across the field like a clap of thunder, reaching her partner high up in the sky. When it comes to vocal volume, a super-human newcomer will never back down.

"Charizard, intercept it with Wing Attack!"

A brilliant, crackling golden current wraps entirely around Dragonite's fist, while Charizard's wings glaze over with a dense, metallic sheen! Both entities adjust their flight vectors mid-air, charging straight toward each other at terminal velocity!

Boom!!

The violent collision between the Electric-type Thunder Punch and the metallic Wing Attack triggers a massive explosion in the sky!

A deafening boom echoes across the area as a dense cloud of black smoke completely consumes the airspace. Within moments, the wind shears the smoke away, revealing both combatants to the audience below. Neither Pokémon appears to have sustained terminal damage.

However, considering Thunder Punch delivers a super-effective multiplier against Charizard's typing, the fact that both entities emerged with equal residual stamina clearly highlights the underlying gap in their raw power levels! Iris grittily tightens her facial expression as the tension rises.

After these two initial exchanges, it is glaringly obvious that her Dragonite is trailing behind Charizard in terms of raw physical stats. If this transitions into a prolonged war of attrition, her odds look exceptionally grim—she must force a definitive conclusion immediately!

"Dragonite, Dragon Rush!"

"Charizard, block the assault with Dragon Claw!"

High across the sky dome, Dragonite unleashes a roar that shakes the surrounding air. A brilliant, deep blue energy matrix materializes around its entire frame, transforming its silhouette into a massive, roaring draconic avatar! The energy dragon opens its jaw, looking ready to swallow the sky whole!

In response, Charizard simply channels a bright emerald energy across both of its heavy claws. Like a legendary warrior charging down a mythical beast, it flies straight into the maw of the blue energy dragon without a single trace of fear!

"Roar!!!"

The draconic aura shrieks as the avatar opens its abyss-like mouth, completely swallowing Charizard's form whole within the blue energy!

Author's Commentary Note: Looking back at this specific animated segment, there was an old rumor floating around the community stating that Ash's Charizard returned to Oak's lab because it had officially conquered the entire facility as the King of the Charicific Valley. In the original broadcast, Ash simply requested Professor Oak to transfer Charizard over, leading Oak to recall it into its standard ball for transmission. However, following its run in the Unova region, Charizard did not return to the valley, meaning it had effectively completed its training arc. Therefore, implementing this specific backstory element works perfectly fine and fits the narrative beautifully.
