Sharon kept screaming as the process continued. The readings on the monitor jumped higher and higher—her heart rate was climbing way too fast.

Ethan frowned, tapping the screen.

"Damn… this is bad. At this rate she'll go into shock."

He looked at her through the glass—she was shaking hard, teeth clenched, eyes squeezed shut from the pain.

"And she was talking about torture resistance…" Ethan muttered under his breath, annoyed and worried at the same time. "This is way beyond that."

He quickly grabbed a syringe and connected it to the chamber's injection port.

"Sedative going in," he said to himself as he pressed the plunger.

After a few seconds, Sharon's screaming slowly weakened. Her breathing was still rough, but her body stopped thrashing as the sedative kicked in. Her heart rate began dropping to safer levels, though she was still clearly in pain.

Ethan let out a small sigh of relief.

"Well… I should stop using Storm as benchmark from now on," he said quietly, watching the levels balance out. "But mixing sedatives with the vibranium-particle cellular infusion might create some side effects."

He leaned back slightly, eyes still fixed on the monitors.

"I just hope it's nothing extreme," he muttered. "Still better than her dying on the table."

The chamber continued to run, the purple gas cycling in controlled waves while energy readings slowly rose.

Sharon's hand twitched once, but she didn't wake up—her body was finally handling the process without collapsing.

Ethan stayed right in front of the chamber, watching every number, every graph, ready to intervene again if needed.

Fortunately, nothing else went wrong after that. The infusion kept running smoothly, and Sharon stayed unconscious but stable.

Time passed slowly.

After about another hour, the machine beeped and the process stopped on its own. The chamber released the pressure and the door slowly opened with a soft click.

Ethan stood up straight, ready to check her condition, but he froze for a second when he saw her.

Sharon lay there completely still, breathing shallow but steady. She looked different—really different.

Her hair, which had always been blonde, was now a light purple color. Not bright, not flashy—more of a soft lavender shade. Her skin tone hadn't changed much, but her body seemed a bit more defined, like her muscles had tightened and her build had become slightly leaner and athletic without losing shape.

Ethan blinked in surprise.

"…Okay, so the side effects are more cosmetic than I expected," he muttered.

Sharon slowly opened her eyes, blinking a few times as if her vision needed adjusting. When her gaze focused, Ethan noticed it immediately—her eyes now had a light purple tint matching her hair.

She looked confused and sleepy, turning her head slightly toward him.

"…Ethan?" she said, her voice hoarse and tired.

Ethan let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding and nodded.

"Yeah. I'm here."

Sharon tried to raise a hand to her forehead, moving slowly as if her body felt heavy. Ethan reached out and helped her sit up a little.

"Well, there are some side effects from the superpower infusion," Ethan said. "But I think you'll like them."

Sharon stood up carefully, still adjusting to how her body felt.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

Her long hair fell forward over her face as she moved, making her push it back out of the way. The moment her fingers touched it, she froze—staring at the new color.

Her hair wasn't blonde anymore.

It looked like strands of neon lavender, giving off a faint shine under the lights.

"…Woah," Sharon whispered, surprised by her own reflection in the polished metal surface of the chamber.

"Told you you'd like it," Ethan said with a small smile.

Sharon leaned closer to the reflection, brushing her now-lavender hair aside.

"Even my eyes changed color…"

Ethan nodded.

"Yeah. That wasn't supposed to happen, actually. You weren't handling the infusion well, so I had to give you some sedatives. That caused the reaction."

Sharon sighed and glanced at him.

"You weren't kidding when you said it would hurt like hell."

Ethan shrugged lightly.

"I warned you."

He stepped back from the chamber and crossed his arms.

"So, let's test what new abilities you got."

Sharon nodded slowly, still touching her hair in disbelief—until Ethan picked up a handgun and raised it toward her.

"Whoa—hold on," she said quickly, raising her hand to stop him. "Can we maybe not start with real bullets?"

Ethan rolled his eyes and swapped the magazine with a different one.

"Fine. Rubber bullets this time."

Sharon lowered her hand and took a steady breath.

"Okay… that's better."

"Okay, fire away. At least it won't hurt as much as the infusion," Sharon said.

Ethan nodded, aimed at her chest, and pulled the trigger.

BANG!

BANG!

With each rubber bullet that hit her, Sharon didn't flinch—but something else happened.

Her hair and eyes began to glow brighter, as if the impact was charging them with energy.

Sharon winced slightly and held her chest.

"Ethan… I feel something building up inside. Like energy… something's coming out."

Before Ethan could react, Sharon's eyes widened.

"What is this—?" she said, but suddenly two beams shot out from her eyes.

Ethan barely had time to duck.

Two bright purple energy beams shot out from her eyes for about two seconds, slamming into the reinforced wall and leaving scorched marks before fading. When it stopped, her eyes and hair slowly returned to their normal lavender glow—the normal glow before she gained the energy from absorbing the rubber bullets kinetic force.

Sharon blinked, looking stunned as she touched her eyes in disbelief."…Did I just—shoot lasers from my eyes?"

Ethan stared at the damaged wall, equally shocked.

"Well… that's another side effect I didn't see coming," he muttered."In theory, you should've gained something similar to vibranium-like durability—energy absorption and controlled release—but this… this is completely different."

"Well, not totally different, since you are absorbing and releasing energy," he added. "Just… not in the way it was supposed to work."
