Ethan nodded and asked, "So, who was better between you two?"
Sharon thought for a moment.
"That's a hard question. We both had our own areas of expertise. She focused more on combat, while I was more into hacking. I can fight too, of course, but she would win against me in a straight fight."
Ethan nodded in understanding.
"I'm starting to feel like I'm your personal agent, Ethan," Coulson said as he walked closer.
Ethan smiled.
"I don't mind that," he replied calmly. "Your smiley face is always welcome to join my company."
Coulson sat across from him and shook his head lightly.
"You really are something else," he said, then pointed at Barbara. "You remember her?"
Ethan smiled.
"Yeah. I still remember my hot doctor," he said casually.
Barbara rolled her eyes, but there was clear amusement in her expression.
"Glad to meet my naughty patient again," she said as she sat beside Coulson. Then she looked at Sharon.
"You've changed a lot."
"An accident," Sharon shrugged.
Barbara nodded. "Yeah, I heard."
The two women began talking quietly, leaving Coulson and Ethan to discuss business.
Coulson looked at Ethan seriously.
"So," he said, "what exactly is this about? Why buy an island so far away from any major continent?"
Ethan leaned back slightly.
"Hm. It's a new element I'm trying to create. Partly for my own project, and partly related to Tony's arc reactor."
Coulson smiled faintly.
"You're late then. Tony already created a new element. He calls it Balladium—something similar to palladium."
Ethan nodded calmly.
"That's fine. I was making this mainly for my other projects. By the way, I call it Transformium."
Barbara's interest was clearly piqued.
"Transformium?" she repeated. "From the name, it sounds like this element can transform things. But transform into what?"
Ethan smiled slightly, his eyes calm and confident.
"It can transform itself into anything," he said. "Think of it as nanotech, but now its not just bunch of nano bots, now its a metal itself."
At that moment, a explosion rang from the forest kicking up dust.
"It's ready," Ethan said.
He tapped his chest, and his entire body was instantly covered in a sleek suit of armor, forming smoothly over him.
Several small, round disc-like devices floated out and stopped in front of them.
"Wear these," Ethan said calmly. "Even though I know it's safe, it's better to be cautious."
The discs attached themselves to their chests. A moment later, a protective nano-layer spread out, covering them completely in a sci-fi hazmat suit.
Sharon looked down at herself, impressed, and the others did the same.
"Once again, I'm impressed by you," Coulson said.
Ethan nodded and then led them into the forest. Just a few seconds after entering, they were all stunned by the transformation around them.
The place no longer looked natural. Even the tall trees—their trunks, branches, and leaves—were now covered in black metallic material.
"It's done," Ethan said, picking up a leaf and snapping it in half.
"It's not just the surface," Barbara said as she examined the surroundings. "The entire area has turned into this Transformium metal."
Ethan nodded.
"Yeah. I call it a Transformium Seed. It's basically a bomb that converts a small region into this substance."
"My scans show we can easily extract over nine hundred tons of Transformium from this area," Sharon said, looking at Ethan.
Ethan nodded again.
"That's more than enough for now."
He turned slightly and added, "Have the extraction team get it ready for transport. And lock it up securely."
Sharon nodded and immediately began making contacts.
"We can remove the suits now," Ethan said as he dismissed his own armor. The others did the same, and their suits retracted back into the disc devices, which floated back to Ethan. He placed them into his pocket.
Coulson picked up a piece of rock from the ground, now fully transformed into metal.
"How good is this element?" he asked.
Ethan thought for a moment.
"Like I said, think of it as nanobots," he explained. "Their atoms can rearrange themselves exactly the way I program them."
He added, "Let me show you."
Ethan activated his suit interface again. The nanobots gathered in front of him and began shaping themselves. Within seconds, a small box formed in midair.
Ethan dropped a few transformed metal fragments into the box and activated it. The box shifted and reformed.
Moments later, he opened it.
Inside was a compact firearm.
He then adjusted the settings, and the gun melted down and reshaped itself into a sleek wristwatch.
"It can even scan existing objects and turn into them," Ethan said. "If I program it to do so."
Coulson stared at the objects, clearly impressed.
"With something like this, there's a lot you could do."
Ethan nodded.
"Exactly. And that's why I'm not making it public. Not yet. For now, I'm keeping it for myself."
"Hm, yes. It could be easily misused," Coulson said, nodding as he understood what Ethan meant.
He then added with a faint smile,
"I guess when people say you're better than Tony, they aren't boasting."
Ethan let out a quiet breath and shook his head.
"I'm not better than Tony," he said calmly. "I just work differently."
Coulson smiled slightly. "That sounds exactly like something Tony would never say."
Barbara stepped closer and looked at the watch, then at Ethan.
"This kind of technology would change everything," she said. "Weapons. Medicine. Infrastructure. Even warfare."
"That's the problem," Ethan replied. "It changes too much, too fast."
Sharon finished her call and walked back to them.
"The extraction team will arrive within the hour. Everything will be sealed and transported under maximum security."
"Good," Ethan said. "No leaks. No records outside our network."
Sharon nodded as Coulson spoke.
"We'll be leaving too, then. The detonation wasn't large enough to draw attention, so you won't need S.H.I.E.L.D.'s help for this."
Ethan nodded.
"I know. If things go wrong, Sharon knows how to reach you."
Coulson smiled.
"Feel free to call us anytime."
Barbara also gave a small wave as they turned to leave.
