"Good. It's working perfectly," Ethan said as he watched the monitors.
The nanites continued restructuring Jack's body for several hours.
Gradually, the mechanical components disappeared. Metal joints were replaced with reinforced natural bone, artificial muscles were replaced with organic fibers enhanced by nanites, and the remaining unwanted cybernatic system was also removed.
Finally, the pod opened with a soft hiss.
Jack stepped out slowly.
He looked down at his hands.
They were completely human now—no metal plating, no exposed mechanical parts.
He flexed his fingers once, then looked at Ethan with a slightly confused expression.
"I am fully human now," Jack said. "Does that mean my combat effectiveness has decreased?"
Ethan nodded slightly.
"Yeah, a little," he admitted. "But don't worry. I'm going to give your upgrades back—just in a different way."
He walked to a nearby table and picked up a small dark metal block.
"This is called Uru metal," Ethan explained. "It's a magical metal that amplifies supernatural abilities many times over."
Jack studied the metal quietly.
"I'm going to infuse a small amount of it into your body," Ethan continued. "But before that, we'll start with this."
He held up a blue vial filled with glowing liquid.
"The Super Soldier Serum."
"It amplifies all factors of a person's body," he said.
If not for the System's guarantee of absolute loyalty from summoned beings, Ethan would never have dared to use this serum on Jack. Jack was a bona fide mass-murder machine after all.
There was always the possibility that he could turn against Ethan after being enhanced by the serum. But thanks to the System's Absolute Loyalty, Ethan did not have to worry about that part.
Jack looked at the vial.
"After that," Ethan said, "I'll also give you a high-tech external combat suit. It will function like your old cyborg body—but much stronger."
He leaned casually against the table.
"So without sacrificing your human body, you'll be able to go beyond your previous peak."
He paused for a moment, then added,
"And now you'll also be able to live like a normal human if you want."
Jack stood silently for a few seconds.
Then he spoke quietly.
"I… was created to be a weapon."
Ethan looked at him calmly.
"I know," he said. "But I don't see my teammates that way."
Jack didn't respond immediately.
His expression remained the same but there was light in his eyes which was not there before.
Ethan clapped his hands once.
"Anyway, get ready," he said. "This procedure is going to hurt like hell."
He opened another medical pod beside them.
"Let's start with the Super Soldier Serum first."
Jack walked toward the pod and stepped inside.
The chamber sealed shut.
Ethan connected the injection system and inserted the blue vial into the console.
"Alright," Ethan said as he pressed the activation button.
"Here we go."
The serum injected into Jack's bloodstream.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then—
Jack's body suddenly tensed.
His muscles tightened as the serum began rewriting his cells.
His heart rate spiked rapidly on the monitor.
Veins appeared across his arms as the serum forced his body to evolve at an accelerated rate.
Jack gripped the sides of the pod, his teeth clenched.
Pain flooded his nervous system.
But he did not scream.
Ethan watched the readings carefully.
"Good," he said calmly. "Your body is adapting faster than expected."
The serum spread through Jack's system, strengthening his bones, muscles, nerves, and reflexes.
His heartbeat gradually stabilized.
After several minutes, the pod opened again.
Jack stepped out slowly.
His breathing was heavier, but his posture was steady.
He clenched his fist once.
The air cracked faintly from the force.
Ethan smiled slightly.
"Nice," he said.
"Now we move to the next step."
He picked up the small piece of Uru metal again.
"This part," he said, "is where things get interesting."
"Onto the next pod," he continued, pointing at a different one. "This is the Artificial Infusion Chamber."
"It atomizes any metal and then fuses it into the recipient's body at the molecular level, giving the person some of the properties of the metal used. In your case, I'm going to use this Uru metal and then engrave some runes on your body to complete the process."
Jack simply nodded. Clearly, he didn't fully understand everything Ethan had said.
"So I just have to lie in there too?" he asked.
Ethan nodded.
"Yeah, but we'll do that after a day of rest. After all, your body just went through the Super Soldier Serum experiment," he said, closing the pod. "Give your body some time to recover. We'll do it tomorrow."
He glanced at Jack's new body once more.
"Until then, you should get used to your new body," Ethan said.
Jack nodded and left the basement, heading toward the training area to test his limits.
Ethan watched him go and gave a small nod before returning to his work.
Next Day
"So, are you ready?" Ethan asked, looking at Jack lying inside the pod.
Jack nodded.
"Just do it," he said.
Ethan nodded back. "Okay."
He closed the pod and then placed the Cosmic Bead into the atomizer. Since Uru metal couldn't be easily atomized, he had to use the stored cosmic energy from the Space Stone, within the bead to completely break it down into particles.
Moments later, the infusion process began.
Inside the chamber, the atomized Uru particles were injected and fused into Jack's body at the molecular level.
This time, the pain was far worse.
Jack's muscles tensed violently as the process began. Veins bulged across his arms and neck as the Uru integrated with his bones, muscles, and nervous system.
Yet he didn't scream.
He simply clenched his teeth and endured it.
Ethan watched the monitors carefully, adjusting the settings as the chamber hummed with energy.
"Both he and Storm are men witrh nerves of steel," Ethan muttered quietly, watching Jack grit his teeth against the hellish pain of the process.
Minutes passed.
Inside the chamber, the silver mist of atomized Uru continued to flow through the infusion lines, spreading into Jack's body like liquid lightning.
