Chapter 109 - Chapter 109: The lie that ruined ten years

Back then you were already this close to Ur.

Even if you misunderstood, you could have gone up and cursed her out, or demanded an explanation face to face.

But you just turned around and ran back to the Magic Development Bureau without looking back.

What was that supposed to be, your brain really has a hole in it or what.

If Ultear could still use her so called "I saw it with my own eyes" to keep lying to herself before,

then after hearing both Lyon and Kabe question her like this, her defenses completely collapsed.

"So it was like this. Just like that, I let myself be fooled by such a clumsy lie for over ten years.

What have I even been doing all these years!"

She screamed in regret, raising her trembling hands.

Tears could no longer be held back. They flooded out like a broken dam, streaming down her cheeks and dripping one by one onto the ice beneath her.

Lyon looked at this tragic senior sister with a pained expression.

In that moment he lost all interest in that ridiculous revenge on Deliora.

Right now he only wanted to comfort her and, in the end, help her and Ur by personally taking care of Brain, the man who had hurt their mother and daughter for so long.

Just as he was about to step forward and say something, Kabe quickly slipped between the two of them and bumped Lyon aside with his hip.

Then he squatted down, gently patting the sobbing girl's back, speaking softly:

"Go ahead and cry. Cry it all out and you will feel better.

With me here, I will help you clean up the rest."

Lyon: Seriously, who even are you? You are neither family nor anything, what gives you the right to sound this reliable!

Right now what Ultear needed was a proper release of all those twisted feelings, and the sense that someone truly cared about her.

Her eyes flushed red, and she instinctively threw herself into his arms, clutching his collar and bawling her eyes out.

Kabe simply followed her movement, wrapping his arms around her, his hand moving from patting to gently stroking up and down her back.

Lyon: Let go of her already. That is my senior sister!

Maybe his comfort really worked, because after a while of crying, Ultear's shoulders slowly stopped shaking as much.

Kabe was very quick on the uptake. Before she could say anything, he had already released her and hurried to switch the topic.

"Now that the misunderstanding is cleared up, we should talk about what to do next."

As he spoke, he finally turned his eyes to Lyon, whose gaze was practically spitting fire, and raised an annoyed eyebrow.

"What are you staring at. Even if the mother and daughter have reconciled, your little group still has a serious crime hanging over its head.

What are you planning to do about Deliora?"

"I…"

Lyon opened his mouth, wanting to argue, but when he turned to look at Deliora, who he had stolen, his head dropped again.

"Do whatever you want to me. Punish me however you like.

But there is one thing. Brain has to be left to me. I am going to kill him with my own hands."

"You can save that line for Gray. Once he finds out about all this, he will definitely fight you to be the one to end Brain."

"Gray again. Are you and Gray really that close?!

Besides, he is my junior. When it comes to avenging our teacher, that should be my job first!"

"He is in our Fairy Tail. If you want to argue that badly, wait till you see him and say it to his face."

As he spoke, Kabe smacked Lyon on the head, scolding him:

"Quit derailing the conversation. You are messing up my train of thought.

I was asking what to do about Deliora, not listening to you go off on random tangents."

Holding his head, Lyon shouted angrily:

"I already said it. Do whatever you want! Are your ears broken!"

"I said I am dealing with Deliora, not you.

You little idiot, you actually dared shout at me. Sounds like your face still has not had enough."

Seeing Kabe rolling up his sleeves like he was ready for round two, Lyon still tried to look tough on the surface, but inside he was absolutely panicking.

He was already missing a mouthful of teeth and even talking leaked air.

There was no way his face could take another hit.

Thankfully, Ultear, this newly acknowledged senior sister, spoke up at just the right time and saved Lyon's remaining dignity.

"Send it back to the northern continent. Hand it directly over to the local mages guild.

They know better than anyone how dangerous Deliora is and will guard it far more seriously than those useless Council fools."

"Now that is a good idea. Only someone who managed to infiltrate the Council as a spy would have a brain this sharp."

Kabe laughed and gave her a big thumbs up in praise.

But when Ultear saw his hand reach out, she actually tensed up and unconsciously took a step back.

"What… is that supposed to mean?"

Ultear turned her head away, refusing to look at him.

"Nothing. I just suddenly wanted to move a little."

That answer made Kabe's eyes go wide, as if he were silently saying: you actually suspect I am up to something?

However, Ultear did not buy his act at all.

After she finished sharing her idea, she simply walked to a spot four or five paces away from him and stood there quietly, head down, saying nothing more.

Fine, you win, you are pure and distant. I am the clown here.

Grumbling inwardly, Kabe folded his arms, snorted coldly, and summed things up in his own way.

"All right then, we will handle Deliora the way you suggested. I will get in touch with our guild master and have him figure out the logistics.

As for you, Lyon, dismiss your subordinates as soon as possible and send them home to their own families.

And from now on, no matter who asks, you say this whole mess was Brain's doing.

We will let everyone see just how badly the Council screwed up by letting a former subordinate go rogue like this.

I will personally contact reporters and blast them in the papers."

Hearing that Kabe had laid out so much and still had not mentioned how he would punish him, Lyon felt even more guilty and could not help talking back:

"I made this mess. I can take responsibility for my own mistakes."

"You have a perfect scapegoat right there, and he is your sworn enemy on top of that.

You are not going to let him carry this, and instead you want to jump in front and take the blame yourself.

Tell me honestly, did the cold up north freeze your brain into mush?"
