Chapter 308 - Chapter 307: The First Official Match Begins

"Good morning, citizens of Fiore. After a full day of intense preliminary matches yesterday, six teams have finally emerged victorious.

Today, the first official match of the Grand Magic Games will begin.

I, Jabadilora, will be your host for this event.

We are also honored to have one of the Ten Wizard Saints, Lady Irene Belserion, as our special guest commentator."

Inside the massive projection screen, the host spoke with a ceremonious tone.

The image then shifted, revealing Irene's striking and beautiful face.

Her appearance, combined with her status as a Wizard Saint, immediately triggered enthusiastic cheers from across the city.

Receiving such admiration, Irene revealed a gentle smile and slightly nodded in greeting.

"Good morning to everyone watching the match. I am honored to serve as today's commentary guest. Please forgive me if I fall short in any way."

"Hahaha, Lady Irene is far too modest. I should be the one saying that. Please guide us well today."

"You flatter me. I look forward to working with you as well."

Looking at Irene's smiling face displayed in the magical projection above the city, Kabe, who had just come out of the hotel with the others, did not even know where to start complaining.

Cana looked up at the floating magical airship and said with envy,

"Nice for Irene sis. She gets to sit comfortably in the airship and watch us compete like fools."

Mirajane followed with a smile that was not particularly kind.

"Yeah. Look at how happy she looks. She's probably just waiting to see us make mistakes."

Erza spoke firmly.

"Everyone, perform properly later. Do not give her any chance to laugh at us."

The others responded in unison.

"Mm!"

A voice suddenly came from behind them.

"Mr. Kabe, and Fairy Tail Team A, good morning."

They turned around and saw the hotel owner smiling while carrying a wooden box.

"Everyone, the match is about to begin. Please draw your roles from here."

"Boss, I didn't expect you to be part of the organizers."

"Hehe, just a side job. My main job is still running the hotel."

Kabe exchanged a glance with the others.

"So, how do we draw this?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Juvia stepped forward first.

"I will go. My strength and Cana's are the weakest in the team. We should try to draw Knight."

She reached into the box and pulled out an envelope after a moment of searching.

She took a deep breath and carefully opened it.

A faint light scattered out, and a voice echoed beside her ear.

"Your identity is Earl. Please be careful not to expose it."

Juvia's expression immediately turned bitter as she raised three fingers to the group.

"Sorry… I didn't get Knight. I got a relatively high rank instead."

Ultear immediately comforted her.

"It's fine. Our team is balanced. Whoever gets it doesn't matter."

"I'll go next. I'll try to draw Knight."

Cana rolled up her sleeves and reached into the box.

After stirring around for a moment, she pulled out an envelope and hesitated slightly before opening it.

"Your identity is Baron. Please do not expose yourself."

"Eh, not Knight, but still acceptable."

She raised five fingers with a reluctant smile.

All eyes then turned to Kabe. Whether to draw first or last now depended on him.

"I refuse to believe I can be that unlucky."

Kabe decisively reached into the box.

Under the tense gazes of the girls, he opened the envelope. His expression slowly froze.

Everyone immediately understood the result from his face.

Erza quickly spoke to steady the team.

"Forget it. Even if Kabe is not the King, we can still eliminate every other team and secure at least third place."

She then instructed Mirajane, Ultear, and the others to draw their roles one by one.

The final team identities were:

King: Ultear

Duke: Erza

Earl: Juvia

Viscount: Mirajane

Baron: Cana

Knight: Kabe

These roles were known only to the six of them. The commentator and audience had no information.

The only person who might have known something, the hotel owner, was later taken away by the organizers.

Before leaving, he even gave them a cheering gesture.

"By the way, what do we do now? Where is the match held? When does it start?"

The six of them looked at each other in confusion.

None of these details had been explained the previous day, and no one had come to notify them.

Just as they were lost, the projection screen changed again.

The host looked as if he had just received new information and became excited.

"Everyone, I have just received word that all six teams have successfully drawn their identities."

"Now I officially declare: the first match of the Grand Magic Games has begun!"

"The battlefield is the entire capital city of Crocus. Participants, please unleash your full abilities!"

With that announcement, the massive projection in the sky disappeared.

Kabe and the others were left standing in visible confusion.
