Chapter 116 - Powerful Armor

Compared to the heroes in One Punch Man, the Marvel superheroes are probably lacking in raw lethality.

After all, this is a movie world brought onto the big screen. It cannot be made too bloody. One Punch Man has far fewer concerns. The heroes have all kinds of ways to kill monsters, and every one of them feels distinctive.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Dozens of punches, each strong enough to smash a tank and punch through the ground, blanketed the Deep Sea Folk's entire upper body.

Facing Ben Grimm's heavy blows, built up through a charging sprint, the Deep Sea creature's heavily beastified face actually lifted at the corner of its mouth. It looked excited.

The purple muscles under its ribs and across its back bulged high. Then it raised both arms and braced forward, like it had set up a tower shield, protecting its upper body tightly. But under those cannonball-like punches, the ground could not take it anymore. In just a few seconds, the earth looked like it had been crushed by a swarm of tanks. Rubble and dust scattered everywhere, briefly shrouding the two figures at the center.

At this point, anyone watching would think Ben had the upper hand. With punches that fast and that heavy, very few could endure. The moment you slipped or your strength faltered, you would be blasted into paste.

But only Ben knew what kind of monster he was dealing with.

Unfortunately, his teammates were already being surrounded by more and more Deep Sea Folk, forced into bitter fights. The military had even lost more than a dozen War Machines, one Iron Monger, and several tanks.

A small mouthful of green blood spat onto the ground.

"Heh heh, is that all?"

The Deep Sea creature's expression was vicious. Its crooked jaw clicked as it moved, then it bit down hard.

And then it just recovered?!

Huff, huff, huff, hrrk!

Lying on his back in a pit more than half a meter deep was Ben Grimm. His whole body was covered in wounds, and cracks had spread across his hardened rocky frame. Hearing the creature's words, he struggled with all his strength just to lift his head, then immediately collapsed again.

"Soldier, you've only hurt me a little," the Deep Sea creature said. "That so-called combo of yours is useless."

"Attacks with no killing intent, it doesn't matter how many you throw."

It licked its lips. "Let me taste you. You should be nice and chewy."

In the Deep Sea Folk's worldview, ocean creatures that could not mutate into human form were a completely different species from them. Those who mutated but were not strong enough were considered civilians. Only the naturally vicious, powerfully built ones could become soldiers.

And the ones invading this time were all soldiers.

They had no idea they were merely temporary creations built from atomic construction and granted consciousness. Even if left alone, they would naturally collapse and disintegrate within a few days.

"After this, we can push the superhero plan forward, turn Earth into a forbidden zone for the entire universe."

Zod watched the superheroes and the military struggle. Even though the military kept pouring in reinforcements, it was not enough. Tanks and helicopters, too clumsy, were completely outclassed by the Deep Sea Folk. War Machines and Iron Mongers were agile enough, but there were far too few of them.

"Then next, it's time for my entrance!"

From Zod's toes, black nanorobots gathered, then spread across his body, forming the Dark Knight armor.

He floated weightlessly, then drifted down into the center of the battlefield.

This time, Zod did not plan to use electromagnetic force. It was clean and efficient, but sometimes he wanted to loosen up and stretch his muscles.

"Dark Knight Zod!"

"He's finally here?"

Daredevil and Blade, who had needed every ounce of effort just to handle a single Deep Sea Folk, could not help muttering.

Silk and Venom were in the same sorry state.

Right then, one Deep Sea creature lunged at the Dark Knight Zod, who had entered so arrogantly.

Then everyone saw Zod throw a punch.

Boom!

The air was punched through. A deafening shockwave and soundwave exploded outward, and that Deep Sea creature was blown apart on the spot. More than half its body was pulverized into fragments!

"This is...!"

Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. stared in disbelief, his one eye nearly splitting.

"Did he upgrade his armor again?!"

That shocking scene made everyone think the same thing.

Because the Dark Knight Zod from before had never displayed this kind of power. He must have upgraded his suit.

No one thought it was Zod's own strength. Mainly because the image Zod had cultivated for so long was deeply rooted in people's minds. He was just a genius scientist, that was all.

Another Deep Sea creature attacked from behind. Zod vanished from where he stood like lightning, leaving a stretched afterimage burned across everyone's retinas. He appeared behind the creature. Nanorobots gathered on his hand, forming a blade, and then the blade began to glow a scorching red.

A high-frequency blade.

One slash split the ambusher in two. Blood splattered onto the blade, only to be shattered into a red mist by the high-frequency vibration.

A third Deep Sea creature punched the Dark Knight Zod in the head.

The Dark Knight Zod did not move an inch.

"This armor's speed, strength, and defense are way too insane," Johnny said, shocked and envious. "Reed, can you make something like that?"

"Uh, no. I can't understand its principles," Reed answered, looking inspired anyway. "But I should be able to try making something similar."

Just as it looked like all the spotlight today was about to be taken by Zod alone, a street-blasting BGM kicked in.

Then they saw hundreds of flaming thruster trails streaking in from the distance.

"That is..."

Everyone felt their hearts shake.

"A War Machine legion?" someone asked hesitantly, unsure.

"Don't worry, because Iron Man is here!"

A gold-and-red Iron Man suit flew at the very front, and then a familiar voice rang out.

Zod was a little surprised.

It was Tony Stark. He had actually built so many Iron Man suits.

Hundreds of Iron Man armors struck the Deep Sea Folk from the air, supporting the military's War Machines and Iron Mongers.

But Zod quickly realized these Iron Man suits were mass-produced units, not the various specialized models from the "House Party Protocol" in the original storyline.

And very soon, their weakness was exposed.

Their firepower was insufficient.
