No one left. They all knew the Divine Sword Bureau was currently the most promising organization in the entire world. These agents dreamed of becoming the kind of legends they saw in movies—007, Tom Cruise—and only a place like the Divine Sword Bureau, packed full of superheroes, could ever make that dream come true.
Of course, there were also people with hidden agendas, and definitely a few Hydra agents mixed in, but Zodhis did not care. In the end, every last one of them would become his people anyway.
"The name Divine Sword Bureau doesn't sound very good. Should we change it?"
Zodhis was thinking about other things while he gave the speech. He wrapped it up in just a few short sentences with no long-winded lecture. He had never liked this kind of superficial work.
The training for Divine Sword Bureau agents was simple anyway, only slightly harder than what other agencies required.
Once they were seated in the luxurious car, Esdeath immediately draped her long legs across his lap.
The World Snake driver stared straight ahead without glancing sideways.
"To Divine Sword Bureau headquarters."
Zodhis told the driver.
"Black stockings don't suit you. You should wear long boots."
Then Zodhis said to Esdeath.
"Your little sweetheart has been pestering me lately."
Esdeath acted like she hadn't heard. Her long legs slid along his abs and slipped inside his suit. Zodhis sighed.
"Which little sweetheart?"
He asked in confusion. Did he have any other artificial humans besides the two of them?
Eighteen didn't count. She was at most a mid-level cadre in World Snake now and had even mixed into the Divine Sword Bureau system.
And she was only "reserved."
"It's that Emma."
Esdeath said.
Zodhis suddenly understood. Emma had indeed been going to World Snake every day lately. As a telepathic mutant she had many tasks to complete, so Zodhis wasn't surprised. But from the way Esdeath said it, it sounded like Emma was slacking off?
"What an innocent little girl. She thinks beating me will earn your approval."
Esdeath looked like she was saying this man really is a sinful one.
Zodhis thought to himself that he hadn't done anything beastly to Emma, not even anything slightly animalistic, and there was no "one look at Yang Guo and lifelong mistake" situation.
Besides, beating Esdeath… Emma really dared to think that. Even though Esdeath had reached the limit of a normal Kryptonian through sunlight enhancement and couldn't grow much stronger, it was no exaggeration to say that Esdeath's combat power on the entire Earth was second only to the Ancient One and Zodhis. If the Sentry, Hyperion, or Blue Marvel even existed, she might be below them too, but no one else could beat her.
If everyone teamed up they would still get crushed. Oh, Mr. Fantastic Reed might create a miracle, and if Esdeath killed him and Susan, she might get hit by Franklin from the future. That was also why Zodhis had ignored the two of them and never developed anything beyond friendship with Susan—because their son could easily attack across timelines.
Of course, it was also because Zodhis kept his distance from Marvel heroines and most female characters. Their free love and free marriages made him uncomfortable.
They slept around with almost everyone, and many cheated or had affairs. Except for a few, most were like that.
Compared to that, Zodhis preferred playing with his own artificial humans. After all, they were life-sized 2D wives.
"I'm not interested in her."
Zodhis liked beautiful big-sister types. Emma… maybe in a few years. Her original plot development was decent.
But he felt the same about her. As for Morgan, who was still studying at Kamar-Taj, and Wanda with her unlimited potential… honestly, Zodhis might consider maintaining a relationship through love for the sake of their powers.
And the still-missing Jean Grey. In this universe without mutants, Jean Grey definitely had fragments of the Phoenix Force on her.
That was the Phoenix Force!
Even though the Phoenix Force had been shattered by the Dragon God Force, it was still one of the powers Zodhis wanted most.
With it, he could fight any big shot.
"So that girl named Wanda, and Jessica, and the missing one named Morgan—you're not interested in them either?"
Esdeath continued.
"I have you two, that's enough."
Zodhis grabbed Esdeath's mischievous little hand.
Although he thought black stockings didn't suit Esdeath—her legs were so white they were dazzling, and covering them up was the greatest sin.
But these over-the-knee black stockings paired with the short skirt Esdeath wore created a perfect absolute territory, making Zodhis feel his hormones surging abnormally.
At that moment Zodhis suddenly kicked the driver in front out the car window. While Esdeath was still wondering why he was so impatient—
The car exploded violently!
But Zodhis quickly walked out of the flames wearing his Dark Knight armor. Esdeath had disappeared.
After Zodhis's research and control over electromagnetic forces reached the atomic level, he could predict parts of the future by observing atomic motion—a scientific version of precognition. Just now he had foreseen a bomb exploding where the car would pass.
"Another crazy terrorist attack?"
Zodhis looked at the sewer that had been blown into a huge crater. He estimated the bomb had been planted in the sewer and detonated when he passed by. The car had been blasted into the air and was now in pieces, practically pulverized.
Nearby Divine Sword Bureau agents immediately rushed over to protect the director.
"You didn't conduct any advance checks for suspicious personnel on my route?"
Zodhis questioned.
And his route wasn't fixed. The only people in the Divine Sword Bureau who knew his route were his own people.
Was this really an accident and coincidence?
"I'm sorry, Director!"
The Divine Sword Bureau agents quickly apologized without trying to shift blame.
After all, to them Zodhis was the boss who could decide their life and death at will.
The news that someone had used a bomb to attack the director of the Divine Sword Bureau in America quickly mobilized all four major American intelligence agencies.
The American president and Congress were furious. At this critical moment someone still dared to cause trouble. It was as if they didn't take them seriously at all.
"No matter how much money or how many people it takes, find the mastermind behind the attack!"
The congressmen were enraged. To the entire United States it felt like the sky was falling. Every agency in New York, from the four major intelligence organizations down to beat cops, sprang into action.
