Liam smiled. Unfortunately, his answer completely shattered her remaining hope. "I'm sorry. I'm afraid that won't happen."
He spoke as though discussing the weather. "Your future will most likely consist of either death or something even worse."
Fu Jiang's breathing became uneven. "Then why..."
She almost screamed. "Why are you so confident that I'll give those mines to you?"
Liam's smile remained unchanged. "Simple."
He calmly looked into her eyes. "You have a son. You love him very much, don't you?"
Fu Jiang froze. Liam continued,
"Once you die, who will protect him? If my information is correct, he'll either become someone else's political pawn or end up inside an assassination organisation."
He paused deliberately. "If you don't want that to happen, you'll do exactly what I say."
