Chapter 86 - Fate/Oshi [86]

—It's finally over.

The Holy Grail War had ended, and Laurent spent his last moments standing together with Jeanne Alter and Jeanne. He spoke earnestly to Ritsuka Fujimaru, "Fujimaru, we'll be waiting for your summons."

Ritsuka Fujimaru looked down at the three holy relics in his hands, his voice firm, "I definitely will!"

With a final flash of light, everything vanished as though it had never existed.

"You finally did it, Fujimaru."

Even the doctor's voice held a hint of relief.

Ritsuka Fujimaru's mood, however, was not particularly high. He smiled and murmured, "Monsieur Laurent's story... perhaps it isn't that simple after all."

History resumed its original path.

...

The following events take place after Laurent's death.

July 18, 1431.

People proclaimed Jeanne a true saint, then, fearing the demon's revival, buried her corpse alongside Évigi's body.

No one dared touch the golden sword embedded in Évigi's chest.

They believed it sealed away the demon—once removed, the demon would return.

As for why the Holy Maiden had a ring on her right hand, nobody had an answer.

The scraping sound of shovels digging earth rang out.

"Hurry, hurry! Quickly bury this demon's body—I don't want to be cursed with bad luck!" A group hastily arranged the burial.

Laurent's corpse was brought over, placed into the coffin, then lowered into the grave.

Cold rain poured from the heavens, seeping into the coffin.

Naturally, Laurent's coffin wasn't of high quality. Even the best coffins of this era weren't waterproof.

Rainwater trickled into the coffin, coming into contact with Laurent's body, only to be seemingly devoured instantly.

Even the blood pooled at Laurent's chest began contracting, slowly gathering around the Luobishi divine sword—but no one noticed this.

At a certain moment, dark red lines surfaced on his skin, and the Luobishi divine sword embedded in his chest emitted a faint golden glow. Buried beneath dirt and wood, none saw this spectacle.

Heaven was a vague concept. It was said that people possessing divinity, truly devout believers, or genuinely kind souls could reach Heaven upon death.

And conversely, sinners would descend to Hell.

But these were ultimately mere legends. Nobody knew their validity—because those who did were already dead.

"But to think… possessing divinity really could get me here."

Now standing within this pure, immaculate space, Laurent gazed calmly at the crowd of angels, saints, and even the so-called Lord himself. All stared at him, shock etched clearly on their faces. Laurent's smile broadened.

In their eyes, his golden pupils were painfully dazzling, but Laurent couldn't care less. He spread his arms wide, breathing in deeply as if intoxicated.

This place was the true Heaven—empty, yet filled with infinite possibility.

No matter where he looked, a beautiful aura lingered, carrying a tangible sensation of love.

Everyone here possessed divinity.

This place was exactly the destination Laurent had yearned for.

Several among them frowned. "Even if you possess divinity, your heart is impure. How could you appear here?"

Laurent shrugged carelessly, "No idea. But speaking of which… you guys—" His voice shook with excitement, tinged with savage delight. "—are you ready to experience true death?"

Raising his right hand, Laurent's smile turned feral. A golden light flashed briefly, and a golden sword slowly appeared in his grip.

"The Luobishi Divine Sword…?! Impossible! How could you possibly wield it?!" The angels who recognized it stared in disbelief.

The Luobishi Divine Sword would never permit anyone tainted by evil to wield it.

Laurent didn't immediately reply, merely planting the sword before him.

"My dear Lord, do you still have nothing to say? Because if not… I'll kill every last one of you."

Yet, among that crowd, the most radiant man observed Laurent calmly. His golden pupils revealed no trace of panic. "If you behave yourself even now, this place will permit your existence."

"Permit… my existence?" Laurent suddenly burst into laughter, as though hearing the world's greatest joke. "Hahahahahahaha! You…"

His voice lowered dangerously, suppressing unimaginable rage. "—You don't even know why I chose to die, do you, bastard?!"

As his words fell, a chilling, invisible murderous intent saturated the entire space.

This intent rapidly solidified, immobilizing the wary angels as though a mountain crushed their bodies, leaving them completely paralyzed.

How had this god-slaying aura infiltrated Heaven?!

Laurent had no intention of explaining.

His foot slammed against the ground. With a surge of strength, he charged directly at the Lord standing at the center. "Old bastard, today, I'll replace you."

Laurent vanished from where he stood.

In the blink of an eye, he'd already appeared at the Lord's side, Luobishi divine sword raised without hesitation, aimed directly at his head.

Time slowed infinitely at that moment. Even the astonished angels were utterly unable to react.

The sword was mere inches from the Lord's face—but suddenly, dozens of golden swords materialized from empty space, blocking Laurent's strike.

Clang—!

Their collision echoed violently through the void.

His attack thwarted, Laurent quickly retreated as the angels finally regained their senses, preparing their counterattack. Yet, the Lord remained unfazed.

Steadying his stance, Laurent's smile disappeared, replaced by a grim seriousness as he lifted the sword again.

"[LUOBISHI DIVINE SWORD]!"

Golden radiance illuminated Heaven and Earth. For the first time, a strange expression crossed the Lord's golden eyes. "I embody absolute good. Do you truly believe this sword can harm me?"

At this, Laurent tilted his head slightly, smiling darkly.

"How will we know unless we try?"

Laurent exhaled slowly, closing his eyes as he held the sword in both hands.

After a heartbeat, his eyes snapped open. "By the way—let me tell you one more thing. This sword… has already bathed in the blood of hundreds of angels."

"Jeanne believed in you—yet this is the answer you gave her? If this is your answer, then I'll take revenge in her stead."

"Today—right here—I, Laurent Moreau, swear in my name to exact vengeance upon you all!"
