Chapter 569: What a melodramatic plot! The domineering CEO and the innocent girl, witnessed by Zhang Zhiyun!
Now that the Sect Leader of Wan Fa Sect has been struck down by Senior Martial Uncle Zhang Tianen's heavenly lightning, what can the other powerful cultivators of Wan Fa Sect do, even if some remain? Once he finds the Wan Fa Sect's base, it will be the end of Wan Fa Sect!
"Now, should I go find my younger sister Zhang Yaqian first, or Xiao Lin?"
Zhang Zhiyun pondered for a moment, his brow furrowed in thought. His sister was family, but his fiancée… she was the one who occupied his mind, the source of his current torment. He made his decision. He would go to Ji Xiaolin first. He had to see her, to comfort her properly, and perhaps comfort himself in the process.
Thinking of this, Zhang Zhiyun's heart ached again, a sharp, twisting pang of possession and fury. His fiancée, Ji Xiaolin, the woman with whom he fell in love at first sight, was no longer pure. The insidious schemes of the Wan Fa Sect had defiled her, tarnishing what was rightfully his. The thought stoked the embers of his hatred into a raging inferno. He could almost feel the phantom presence of another man on her skin, a violation that cut deeper than any physical wound.
"That man who had a relationship with Xiao Lin must die!"
A suffocating killing intent erupted from Zhang Zhiyun, chilling the air around him. His knuckles turned white as he clenched his fists. 'I truly loved her,' he told himself, clinging to the memory of their first meeting. The rational part of his mind knew that marrying her was not just about love; it was a strategic move. A union with Ji Xiaolin would secure Zhang Tianen's unwavering support, a crucial asset that would pave his path to becoming the next leader of the Tianshi Sect. Emotionally and pragmatically, he could not afford to give her up. And so, he had only one choice: he had to forgive her. He had to be the magnanimous, understanding fiancé.
Furthermore, when he truly analyzed the incident, strictly speaking, it was his fault. If the Wan Fa Sect hadn't been targeting him, seeking to shatter his spirit and destabilize his position, they never would have directed their vile schemes at Ji Xiaolin. She was an innocent caught in the crossfire aimed at him. This line of reasoning was a balm to his wounded pride, a necessary fiction that allowed him to swallow the bitter pill of her defilement.
Zhang Zhiyun had already decided to let this matter go.
What else could he do?
Forgive her.
However, the forgiveness ended there. The man, the faceless shadow who had touched his fiancée, had to be erased from existence. It didn't matter who he was, what his background was, or what power he wielded. He was a dead man walking. He, Zhang Zhiyun, was a chosen one, a Son of Heaven destined to stand at the absolute pinnacle of the Yanxia cultivation world. He would not, could not, allow such a stain to mar his legacy. The thought that this unknown filth had tasted a treasure that even he, her betrothed, had yet to claim, filled Zhang Zhiyun with a murderous rage that eclipsed even his hatred for the remnants of the Wan Fa Sect.
His plan formed with cold, brutal clarity. First, he would find Ji Xiaolin. He would hold her, comfort her, and whisper promises that he didn't mind, that her past didn't matter. He would play the part of the perfect, forgiving lover. Then, once he had solidified her loyalty and gratitude, he would secretly hunt down that man. He would subject him to unimaginable torture, making him scream until his throat was raw, venting every ounce of his humiliation and fury. And when he was done, he would dismember the man's body piece by piece, ensuring not even dust remained.
"Not strong enough, but he dreams big," Shen Anyu, miles away, chuckled softly. He watched Zhang Zhiyun's contorted expression through the eyes of a nanometer monitoring robot, the microscopic device transmitting a crystal-clear feed. The sheer audacity was almost impressive. Shen Anyu hadn't even bothered to actively seek trouble with this particular Child of Destiny yet, and here was Zhang Zhiyun, already plotting his gruesome demise.
As expected of a Child of Destiny. They were always so fragile, holding onto grudges with a religious fervor, their entire worldview revolving around avenging every perceived slight.
"Perfect. I'll go have some fun with Ji Xiaolin," Shen Anyu's eyes flickered with a dark, predatory gleam. A slow, dangerous smile spread across his lips.
He found himself actually missing the woman. That fierce spirit, the long, athletic legs, the slender waist, and the high, bouncing ponytail—it was a captivating image. He had already laid the necessary groundwork through Zhou Luyao, planting seeds of doubt and intrigue. Now, it was time for the show to officially begin.
With a thought, Shen Anyu issued a mental command to the team of elite female bodyguards he had assigned to Bai Bing. They were to protect her while she slept. The vicious poison curse and the brutal internal injuries she had sustained had been neutralized by his own power, but her body and mind needed time to recover. She was utterly exhausted. First, she had single-handedly butchered her way through the Bai family in a night of bloody vengeance, and then she had been struck down by that insidious poison needle. Even with his intervention, the cumulative toll was enough to fell a Heavenly Human expert.
Bai Bing was neither a Destined Heroine nor a Daughter of Destiny, which meant she lacked the protective aura of Providence. If some opportunistic scoundrel were to sneak in while she was vulnerable, the consequences would be disgusting. The classic trope of a "dragon knight" swooping in to save the day and claim the prize would certainly not unfold on Shen Anyu's watch. He was the only dragon in this story.
Each of his women was protected by a detail of highly-trained female bodyguards. For those whose favorability towards him was above ninety, Destined Heroine or not, he could instantly appear by their side using Love Infinite Teleport. If their favorability reached its absolute maximum, he could even temporarily share his formidable power through the Supernatural Skill Sharing ability.
Unfortunately, since Bai Bing wasn't a Destined Heroine, the System didn't provide a convenient favorability prompt. He could only guess. Shen Anyu estimated that his standing in Bai Bing's heart was not low—gratitude and a certain degree of awe were surely there—but it was unlikely to have reached the critical threshold of ninety.
Although Bai Bing lacked a special destiny, Shen Anyu was determined to win her over. Her intrinsic value was simply too immense to ignore. Her Aptitude was extraordinary; she had reached the Heavenly Human realm at such a young age, and even without his Heavenly Human Breakthrough Pill, she would have broken through on her own within a few more years.
Furthermore, she possessed a special Physique: the Nine Absolute Ice Soul Body. If it could be fully Awakened, she would become a Saintess candidate so coveted that even the great Demonic Path sects and ancient schools in the Xuanhuang Cultivation World would wage war to claim her.
And on top of all that, Bai Bing was an internal test participant in the Main God Reincarnation Game. She was an invaluable chess piece, a potential agent he could place directly within the cryptic space controlled by the Main God Orb. Shen Anyu had deliberately not inquired about the specifics of the Main God space, fearing that any direct mention might trigger some failsafe and get her erased by the Main God Orb. However, simply having an inside agent like Bai Bing, someone who could observe and report, was a strategic advantage of monumental significance.
Subduing a woman like Bai Bing required a delicate balance. A strong, dominant approach was necessary to break her shell, but it had to be tempered with gentle, calculated methods. Both hands had to be employed, the iron fist and the velvet glove.
'Although the Main God Reincarnation Game is very important, there's no rush,' Shen Anyu mused. 'At least in the memory of Long Hao, that Child of Destiny from the rebirth investment stream, the game hadn't significantly altered reality even two and a half years into the future. And judging from that thief I dealt with, the game is still in a slow, lengthy internal testing phase. Each test takes months.'
"Perhaps, by the time the Main God Reincarnation Game massively interferes with reality, I'll already be able to punch and blast the Main God Orb to pieces," Shen Anyu smiled gently, a flicker of absolute confidence in his eyes. Then, his expression sharpened, his smile vanishing as his focus shifted.
"It's the matters of the Xuanhuang World, and a Child of Destiny like Jiangbei Master Chen, who is suspected of being a reborn powerful being, that require special attention and are the top priority."
'One step at a time. There are no solid clues for now, so there's no need to rush into things blindly.'
"First, I'll go have some fun with Ji Xiaolin, and while I'm at it, I'll mess with Zhang Zhiyun's little protagonist heart."
…
"Bastard! Bastard! Bastard! Scumbag! Scumbag! Scumbag!..."
Ji Xiaolin, clad in a simple white and green tracksuit, was jogging along a quiet park path. With every furious step, she kicked at loose pebbles on the asphalt, sending them skittering into the grass. She gritted her teeth, her delicate and usually bright face a mask of pure resentment.
"What's wrong? Looking like a resentful woman? Dumped by your boyfriend? Which scumbag dumped you?" At that moment, a smooth, teasing voice materialized from beside her.
"Who are you? It's none of your business," Ji Xiaolin snapped, looking up angrily. Her eyes immediately locked onto Shen Anyu, who was piloting a gleaming black Rolls-Royce Phantom. The car was crawling along at her jogging pace, its engine a barely audible purr. He leaned against the open window, his devastatingly handsome face graced with a mischievous smile.
Seeing him, the simmering anger within Ji Xiaolin instantly boiled over. That man. The cause of all her recent turmoil. She glared at him with undisguised hatred, turned her head forward, and picked up her pace, continuing her jog along the roadside as if he didn't exist.
Shen Anyu remained silent, a picture of leisurely amusement. He kept the Rolls-Royce Phantom moving at a slow, steady crawl right behind her. A faint smile played on his lips as he watched the graceful, athletic movement of her body, the sway of her high ponytail, the tension in her shoulders. It was, he had to admit, a truly beautiful sight.
Ji Xiaolin's cheeks grew a little warm from Shen Anyu's unwavering, appreciative gaze. It felt invasive, infuriating, and embarrassingly flattering all at once.
Just then, several girls walking past stopped in their tracks, their eyes wide as they excitedly chattered about the scene unfolding before them:
"Oh my god, a real-life CEO drama is unfolding! A rich and handsome man in a Rolls-Royce and a stubborn, resilient little white flower. What a cliché drama, bring on more, I love it."
"Is it a 'chasing-his-wife-to-the-crematorium' scenario? The rich and handsome guy made the little white flower angry, and now he's following her in a Rolls-Royce to beg for forgiveness. That is so swoon-worthy!"
"Wow, that rich and handsome guy is so incredibly handsome! I've never seen such a beautiful man, and he's driving a Rolls-Royce. If it were me, I'd forgive anything he did. I'd forgive him for robbing a bank!"
"Yuanyuan, wipe your drool. Be a bit more reserved, will you?"
"Hehe!"
"..."
Listening to the increasingly loud and excited discussions from the girls on the roadside, Ji Xiaolin could no longer maintain her composure. Her face was burning with humiliation.
At this moment, Zhang Zhiyun, guided by the spiritual sense of Zhang Tianen, also found Ji Xiaolin jogging nearby, and happened to witness this very scene...
