Chapter 278 - Chapter 274: The Red Wedding

The Eyrie was utterly silent.

The nobles of the Vale had already dispersed, busy carrying out Lynn's orders.

In the entire Moon Door Garden, only Lynn and the ten black-robed White Walkers, like shadows, remained.

Winter's massive body lay coiled amidst the ruins of the garden.

Its three heads rested on its forepaws, seemingly feigning sleep.

But its occasionally twitching nostrils and the deep rumbling purr from its throat all indicated that it could transform into an emissary of destruction at any moment.

Lynn walked to the edge of the castle, overlooking the surging sea of clouds below.

Conquering the Vale was much smoother than he had imagined.

Military deterrence, coupled with psychological warfare.

With both approaches, it took almost no effort.

Now, the entire North and the Vale were connected.

His power was more stable than ever before.

However, just as he was contemplating his next move and how to deal with that madwoman Lysa,

an intensely strong sense of being watched suddenly struck him from behind, without warning!

Lynn slowly turned around, his gaze like lightning, sweeping behind him.

No one was there.

Only the ten black-robed White Walkers remained quietly in the shadows, as if merged with the darkness.

No!

Lynn's gaze finally settled on the battlements of the high tower.

There, at some unknown point, a crow had perched.

A distinct crow.

Its body was larger than a normal crow's, its feathers as black as ink, without a single speck of color.

The most eerie thing was that it had three eyes.

Besides the two normal eyes on its sides, a third blood-red eye grew in the center of its forehead.

That eye had no pupil, only a chaotic crimson, like a vortex leading to an endless abyss.

That intense feeling of being watched earlier originated from here!

The Three-Eyed Raven!

An old monster, wearing the skin of Brynden Rivers, once known as "Bloodraven," who had lived for an unknown number of years.

One of the masterminds hiding in the weirwood cave beyond the Wall, attempting to manipulate the fate of all Westeros.

His presence here could only mean one thing.

He was anxious.

In the instant Lynn was contemplating, the Three-Eyed Raven spread its wings and silently flew before him.

It did not land, but hovered in mid-air, its three eyes fixed intently on Lynn.

The next second, it lunged forward!

Its target was not Lynn's eyes, nor his throat.

But his ear!

Its sharp beak gently pecked Lynn's earlobe.

There was no pain.

Only a surge of thought, directly into Lynn's mind.

An ancient voice spoke.

"Bring him..."

"Bring him to Castle Black..."

"The time... has come..."

Lynn understood what the other party meant.

It wanted Robert Arryn.

This was the agreement they had made before.

It was the sickly, mentally deficient, still-nursing young lord of the Vale he had just acquired!

The Three-Eyed Raven believed that Robert Arryn's frail body and equally frail mind were the best vessels to become the next Greenseer!

He wanted to possess Robert Arryn!

A flash of killing intent instantly crossed Lynn's eyes.

He had promised the Vale that he would treat Robert well and train him to be a competent lord.

This was the cornerstone of his subjugation of the entire Vale, a guarantee of his credibility.

How could he possibly hand over a living person to an old monster who had lived for an unknown number of years, to be used as a 'part' for a body swap?

Old geezer, trying to pull a 'Prince and the Pauper' trick right under my nose?

You probably haven't been beaten by society enough!

Lynn's expression remained unchanged.

But his intention was clearly transmitted through that link.

"Good."

"Don't forget my Nature Magic and Music Magic."

Simple, direct, full of "sincerity" and "exchange of interests."

The Three-Eyed Raven seemed very satisfied with Lynn's "cooperation."

In its third blood-red eye, the chaotic vortex slowly calmed.

It gently pecked Lynn's ear again with its beak, as if expressing approval.

Then, it spread its wings, transformed into a black shadow, and instantly vanished into the sea of clouds.

The nauseating sense of being watched also disappeared without a trace.

Lynn stood still, silent for a moment.

He raised his hand, touched his earlobe, and a cold, cruel smile curved on his lips.

Want to possess someone?

Fine.

If you want to play, I'll play with you to the end.

I just wonder if your powerful soul can withstand this "grand gift" I've prepared for you.

The Three-Eyed Raven never discovered the special nature of his "guards," their identity as White Walkers, throughout the entire encounter.

This indicated two things.

First, the Three-Eyed Raven, like himself, could not directly use Greensight without any cost.

Especially from such a distance, the mental energy consumption was too much for it.

However, he could do it easily.

The mental power of a Transmigrator and the subsequent gifts from the Night King had already made him crush the Three-Eyed Raven in terms of mental power.

This meant Lynn already had the strength to contend with him.

Second, the Three-Eyed Raven primarily used vision to detect anomalies.

Once an anomaly was detected, he would investigate further.

But if no abnormality was found, he would not waste excessive mental energy.

And his White Walkers were right beside him, which the Three-Eyed Raven found reasonable and thus did not investigate further.

This proved that the Three-Eyed Raven was extremely stingy in using Greensight.

To conserve mental energy, he only extracted the most crucial information.

Far from being as extravagant as Lynn.

If Lynn wanted to investigate a person, he would even figure out all their family relationships.

Even what the target ate for breakfast, and which woman he slept with last night, would be thoroughly and meticulously investigated.

"Come."

Lynn spoke to the shadows.

A black-robed White Walker, with stiff steps, emerged from the shadows.

Its figure was the smallest among the ten White Walkers.

Greensight, instantly activated!

This time, Lynn's target was not the entire North, nor the distant Riverlands.

But this Eyrie.

His consciousness, like an invisible spiderweb, instantly covered every corner of the castle.

He "saw" Robert Arryn, who was packing his bags, preparing to go to Winterfell.

The boy was holding a toy, his face full of timidity and unease, quietly sobbing.

Lynn did not disturb him.

He merely acted like the most precise scanner, imprinting everything about this boy into his mind.

His height, his weight, his walking posture, his speaking tone, his subconscious habit of biting his fingers when scared... all these details were perfectly replicated by Lynn.

Then, he infused all these "data" into a blank human skin mask!

Lynn slowly covered the White Walker's face with the mask.

The White Walker's body trembled violently.

Its eyes, burning with blue flames, began to flicker intensely, alternating between bright and dim.

Its body was undergoing visible changes!

The originally stiff bones made a crisp "crack-crack" sound, and its height was shrinking little by little.

The loose black robe quickly became ill-fitting.

As Lynn's mental power was injected, the blank mask began to writhe and change on its own, as if it had come to life!

Features, contours, skin texture... a face identical to Robert Arryn, even perfectly replicating the faint freckles on his face, appeared before Lynn!

"Woo... Mama... I'm scared..."

"Robert" spoke.

The voice, the tone, and even that deep-seated cowardice were indistinguishable from the real Robert Arryn!

It instinctively raised its hand, wanting to bite its finger, but Lynn grabbed it.

"Very good."

Lynn nodded in satisfaction.

Now, the actor was in place.

All that remained was for the lofty Greenseer to receive this "surprise."

He wondered what kind of spectacular expression that powerful soul would have when it excitedly burrowed into a body made of pure death and ice.

Would this mean he had created a new "Night King"?

Lynn was looking forward to it... After dealing with the matters of the gods, it was time to deal with the matters of mortals.

His gaze turned south.

The Riverlands, Riverrun... Riverrun, the ancestral castle of House Tully.

Today, it was adorned with lanterns and streamers, bustling with activity.

Banners emblazoned with silver trout hung side-by-side with House Frey's grey-and-blue twin tower banners on the castle walls.

The heir of House Tully, Lord of Riverrun, Duke Edmure, was getting married today.

The bride was Walder Frey's most beautiful daughter, Roslin Frey.

Inside the Great Hall, long tables were laden with a lavish feast.

Bards played cheerful tunes, and nobles clinked cups, laughing and chatting.

Everything seemed so festive, so harmonious.

Edmure Tully sat at the head table, his bride beside him.

Roslin Frey's eyes were filled with timidity and submission.

She had long known her fate.

She had resigned herself to it.

Edmure, dressed in a brand new suit, wore a stiff smile, mechanically responding to every guest who came to toast him.

His gaze occasionally swept over Walder Frey, who sat not far below.

That old man, with a face full of wrinkles and almost no teeth left, was now looking smug.

He lecherously eyed Roslin Frey with his cloudy old eyes.

Edmure's heart was filled with humiliation and disgust.

He knew he was just a puppet.

After that madwoman Lysa fled to The Twins, exchanging control of the entire Vale and her own body for House Frey's "protection," he had completely lost control of Riverrun.

This wedding was nothing more than a transaction.

A transaction to exchange his and House Tully's dignity for House Frey's army to fight against the North.

Ironically, just before the wedding began, news from The Eyrie had turned this transaction into a colossal joke.

The Vale had surrendered.

Lynn had taken the entire Eyrie without bloodshed.

And he, Edmure Tully, still had to play along with these rats here.

He felt like a clown.

The wedding music, to him, was so jarring.

This was no wedding!

This was clearly his, and House Tully's, funeral!

And today was just the opening ceremony of this grand funeral.
