Chapter 123 - Chapter 123: Mordred: I’ll Play With Your—!

At the same time, the surrounding magical energy seemed to shift slightly.

Sajyou Manaka, who had been watching the show from the side, had a faint flicker in her eyes, and the fingers of her right hand moved unconsciously.

Gilgamesh said nothing, only watching coldly.

As for Mordred, who was facing that surge of magic head-on, her pupils shrank slightly at that moment.

She could feel that the magical energy of the guy in front of her had suddenly become incredibly surging.

'Looks like he's planning to use some kind of Noble Phantasm…'

Mordred took a deep breath. The visor of her helmet quietly lowered, revealing a delicate and beautiful face.

A proud and delighted smile appeared on her face.

"Fine, Rider… since you're going to get serious, I'll answer that expectation of yours—"

The sword in her hand suddenly erupted with even more astonishing magical power. Red lightning seemed to bloom along the blade.

Whoosh!

But at that very moment, a streak of golden sword light flashed through the night.

It tore across the sky and, in the next instant, struck down between Mordred and the King of Conquerors.

On top of the streetlamp, Gilgamesh narrowed his eyes and glanced at that sword.

Iskandar's motion of releasing his Noble Phantasm also paused slightly, a trace of surprise flashing in his eyes.

Mordred stared blankly at the golden holy sword blocking in front of her, momentarily stunned.

For some reason, she felt that the sword looked a bit familiar. As if she had seen it somewhere before.

Mordred stared fixedly at the golden holy sword. After a brief moment of concentration, she seemed to realize something. Goosebumps rose all over her body, and her eyes suddenly lit up.

A young man in a black robe grasped the golden holy sword and slowly tightened his grip.

He pulled the Sword of the Planet from the ground and looked ahead with a smile.

"You guys seem to be having a lot of fun on your own… couldn't you at least wait for me first, King of Conquerors?"

When she saw Alvin, Mordred's first reaction was joy. After all, being able to see her "father" in the Holy Grail War was, in a sense, a kind of fate.

But after that joy, worry quickly crept into her heart.

The Spirit Evocation Ritual, Heroic Spirit Summoning, was originally a special magecraft used to save humanity. It could summon the Heroic Spirits standing at the seven summits, the Grands, to eliminate great disasters that hindered the progress of mankind.

Later, after being modified by humans, this special magecraft was downgraded and eventually formed into the Holy Grail War.

Through the slaughter between servants, magical energy would be supplied to the Grail, allowing it to descend and grant a wish.

Under normal circumstances, only when most of the servants had died would the Holy Grail have a chance to manifest.

In other words, in this Holy Grail War, she and Alvin were opponents.

As Morgan's experimental creation, a special existence combining the bloodlines of the White Dragon and the Red Dragon, Mordred had absolute confidence in her own strength.

Even so, if her opponent was the White Dragon, she still felt a little unsure.

'I joined the Holy Grail War and ended up fighting my own dad? Seriously?'

Meanwhile, Gilgamesh stood atop the streetlamp with his arms crossed over his chest. Clad in golden armor, his crimson eyes stared coldly at the sword in Alvin's hand.

"A special weapon forged by the planet itself… it seems you're not as worthless as I imagined, Saber."

After seeing through the essence of the Sword of the Planet at a glance, Gilgamesh's voice carried a hint of contempt, "You clearly possess your own power, yet you still ask the Mother Goddess for protection in battle… Hmph!"

It was obvious that even now, Gilgamesh was still bothered by Alvin's earlier special Noble Phantasm called "Mom."

For a servant from Mesopotamia, Tiamat's existence was far too special. Even Gilgamesh had to take it seriously, even if the Tiamat summoned by Alvin in his servant state didn't even count as a proper spiritual body.

After hearing Gilgamesh's words, the King of Conquerors also looked at the servant blocking between him and Lancer with interest.

"So you're Saber?"

"No wonder you were able to fight Archer to a standstill, you seem much more troublesome than I expected."

Iskandar did not notice that ever since Alvin appeared, Waver beside him had been staring at him, doubt flickering in his eyes.

Even though Alvin was wearing a mask, Waver inexplicably felt that he looked very familiar. As if he had seen him somewhere before.

In fact, as fellow students under Kayneth, Alvin and Waver had indeed met a few times in the past. It was normal for him to seem familiar. But at this moment, Alvin was wrapped up tightly, and Waver could not recognize him at first glance.

Iskandar looked around. Aside from Archer and Lancer, after he had declared his name and invited all servants to show themselves, only Saber had appeared.

"Archer, Lancer, Saber, plus me. That means there are still three servants who haven't shown up in this Holy Grail War?"

Iskandar soon let out a sigh, sounding slightly regretful, "It still doesn't feel quite exciting enough."

Mordred raised an eyebrow and quickly lifted the greatsword in her hand.

"That's what I should be saying. We haven't decided a winner between us yet, Rider."

If Alvin hadn't appeared, Mordred had already been ready to unleash her Noble Phantasm.

A smile appeared on Iskandar's broad, square face as he looked at the black-robed servant in front of him.

"I don't mind accepting your challenge but Saber looks like he wants to interfere."

"You're mistaken, King of Conquerors," Alvin shrugged, "I'm not here to interfere. I'm just here to find someone."

"Find someone?"

Iskandar asked in confusion, "Aren't you here to take your Master back?"

Alvin ignored Iskandar's question. He turned and slowly scanned the surroundings.

"Kayneth, you should be here, right?"

The moment that voice rang out, Kayneth's heart skipped a beat.

'Saber is here for me?'

After last night's display from Saber, even Kayneth was wary of him.

Hearing Alvin's voice now, the Lord of the Clock Tower began thinking rapidly, trying to figure out when he might have offended Saber or Saber's Master.

Because of special aura-concealing methods, even when Alvin spoke, Kayneth did not recognize his identity.

Mordred's heart also tightened.

"You're here for my Master?"

Alvin paused, "Your Master?"

"Lancer's Master is Mr. Kayneth," Sajyou Manaka walked to Alvin's side and said softly.

"Oh?"

Alvin looked at Mordred in surprise.

'Mordred and Kayneth? Somehow that pair doesn't seem very compatible.'

'Sure enough, no matter which timeline it is, Kayneth's luck in the Holy Grail War never seems very good.'

'But if it's Mordred, at least I won't have to worry about being stabbed in the back by his fiancée.'

"Speaking of which, are you planning to stand on Lancer's side?"

At that moment, Iskandar's voice suddenly rang out, interrupting their exchange.

His expression was unusually serious as he looked at the black-robed servant who had just appeared.

Even he could see that there seemed to be some kind of connection between Alvin and Mordred.

After all, when Mordred saw Alvin, this Lancer who had been rather hot-tempered suddenly became quite obedient. No matter how he thought about it, that was strange.

Alvin shook his head lightly.

"In the Holy Grail War, everyone has their own Master. If I have to say it, the only person I support is my Master."

Hearing that, a trace of joy appeared in Sajyou Manaka's brows. The way she looked at the young man became even gentler.

Alvin paused briefly, then continued, "Besides, there are still servants hiding in the shadows tonight. I don't think you'll be able to decide a winner."

As long as there were still servants hiding and not showing themselves, even if Iskandar and Mordred wanted to settle things, their Masters would definitely try their best to stop them.

After all, no one wanted to become the target of everyone else.

Iskandar thought for a moment, "Hmm! That makes sense. My Master was just trying his best to stop me too."

"You're only realizing that now, Rider?"

Waver shook his head speechlessly and complained loudly, "If you and Lancer really start fighting here, putting aside who wins or loses, there are other servants watching from the sidelines!"

Not even mentioning that golden flashy guy who already looks like a headache, now there's Saber here too.

'And Saber's Master… is also dangerous.'

Waver subconsciously glanced at Sajyou Manaka, deep caution in his eyes.

His instincts told him that this harmless-looking girl might be even more troublesome than some of the servants in this Holy Grail War.

"You've got a point. In that case, I do have a suggestion."

A bright smile spread across Iskandar's face. As if embracing the whole world, he suddenly spread his arms wide and laughed heartily.

"Why don't the three of you present become my subjects? That way, we could easily become the final winners of this Holy Grail War."

"What do you think?"

The moment those words were spoken, the expressions of everyone present changed subtly.

Gilgamesh looked down coldly at the man calling himself the "King of Conquerors." Mordred looked at him like he was an idiot. Alvin didn't seem surprised at all, his expression calm beneath the mask.

Iskandar wasn't deliberately provoking anyone. He was simply, from a king's perspective, naturally inviting everyone to join under his banner. That was all.

However, upon hearing this, in a certain street corner hidden in the dark, someone's expression shifted slightly.

She was Maiya Hisau from Einzbern Castle.

She knew that Kiritsugu Emiya had already made thorough preparations for this Holy Grail War. But no matter how prepared he was, if the four servants present tonight joined forces… that would be the worst possible news for them.

Before she could even take out her communicator, Mordred let out a cold snort.

"Rider, should I say you're joking, or just hopelessly naive?"

Iskandar silently looked at the three servants before him.

Mordred's expression was unfriendly. Gilgamesh watched coldly.

Alvin said nothing. Compared to how the Grail would be divided, he was more concerned about whether Kayneth could survive until the end of the Holy Grail War.

Iskandar couldn't help but sigh.

"What a pity. Looks like no one agrees with my proposal?"

As if anyone would agree. Not to mention that Iskandar's invitation meant becoming his "subjects." Even if it were cooperation, wouldn't they still have to fight each other in the end?

Was the King of Conquerors thinking too simply, or did he truly believe no one would refuse his invitation?

"Lancer, prepare to withdraw when you get the chance."

At that moment, Kayneth's voice suddenly sounded in Mordred's ear.

Mordred felt anxious, "We're retreating now? The enemy servants finally showed themselves. This is the best chance to eliminate them, Master."

"That black-robed servant… you're not planning to fight him right now, are you?", Kayneth asked.

Mordred fell silent.

As soon as she recognized Alvin's identity, she had already informed Kayneth that Saber was the "White Dragon."

And after learning that, the Lord of the Clock Tower had been left speechless.

Who would have thought that one Holy Grail War would summon both the father and daughter of Britain… and that they would meet like this?

'Just what does Saber want with me,' Kayneth wondered inwardly.

"What about Rider? Are we just letting him go?", Mordred was still unwilling.

"This could be their strategy. Rider might be deliberately trying to lure you into making a move," Kayneth said slowly, "I don't believe the King of Conquerors is that reckless."

Mordred struggled for a long moment. She glanced at Alvin again, then finally let out a sigh of resignation and put away her greatsword.

"Are you planning to run, Lancer?", Iskandar frowned.

"This is my Master's order. Next time we meet, I'll personally end your life. Until then, just wait."

After saying that, Mordred's gaze quickly shifted to Alvin.

When she first saw Alvin, she had felt joy and worry. But after giving herself a long mental talk just now, she had finally made up her mind.
