Chapter 156 - Chapter 157: Thunder Hammer is our Halo meme, remember to mark it next time!

"...Alright, it's finished!"

After working for a period, Berry suddenly raised her hands and cheered aloud.

The Mech in front of her, after such a long period of debugging, had finally softened up and was suitable for human operation.

V guessed correctly that what Berry was working on was a new type of combat Mech, but she was wrong about one thing: it wasn't a robot, but an exoskeleton armor meant to be worn by a person.

"Hmm, this is truly amazing."

V was watching nearby, and only when she moved closer did she get a clear look at the futuristic Mech before her.

Pulling her attention away from her little girlfriend, she realized that the armor in front of her was actually quite beautiful.

The streamlined armor highlighted a perfect humanoid shape; judging by the curves of the body, it seemed to be a female Mech.

The armor was slate gray, barely counting as painted. This fully sealed combat suit was composed of multiple layers of composite materials. Beneath the metal plates was a thick, black bodysuit containing a shock-absorbing gel layer. Besides regulating temperature and absorbing sweat, this gel layer could also change its density in real-time to achieve better cushioning.

Inside the back plating was an Energy Matrix composed of four miniature high-energy batteries, providing power for the entire armor. Additionally, a large portion of energy was used for the armor's electromagnetic defense system; these transparent force fields could deflect ammunition fired at the armor.

Besides providing the most rigorous protection, this set of armor could also provide approximately double the user's strength and Reflexes. However, this level of amplification is difficult for some people to adapt to. If operated poorly, the test subject might be snapped in half by their own "movements" because they couldn't keep up with the armor's speed.

This is why Berry asked V, the strongest Mercenary she knew, to serve as the test pilot.

After all, as the BUG of Night City, Berry didn't believe V couldn't handle this small combat suit.

"V, put it on. This is our destiny."

Wearing holographic glasses, Berry operated the control panel and pressed several buttons, causing the Mech to move.

Dozens of mechanical arms held the armor interfaces, causing the plates to separate, leaving only the black combat bodysuit ready for use.

Once everything was complete, Berry looked at V with burning eyes, waiting for her to take the first step.

"Berry, what is this thing called?"

Seeing this extremely futuristic scene, V was stunned. She looked at Berry in disbelief, unable to believe that something resembling a Military-Industrial Enterprise product came from her girlfriend.

Amidst the shock, a wave of relief washed over V.

It was fortunate that her girlfriend wasn't working for a Corporation; otherwise, with her talent, she could definitely make the world's wars far more brutal.

After hearing Berry's introduction, she could already imagine how countless human soldiers would die futile, hopeless deaths facing this god-like Mech.

Seeing V's astonished gaze, Berry felt immensely proud.

V's guess was, of course, correct.

This creation was prepared to suppress the largest enemy groups using the smallest tactical unit.

An armored squad like this, equipped with just two or three members, would be more than capable in regional conflicts, whether assassinating enemy high-ranking officials or destroying defense facilities.

This tactical positioning is lethal in regional conflicts: decapitation strikes and facility destruction can inflict maximum damage on the enemy with minimal war investment—perfectly suited for the situation in Night City.

This was the greatest killing weapon Berry had brought forth.

She finally spoke to answer V's question.

"Thunder Hammer Mark I, and I call this project the mjolnir project."

This was indeed the first generation. Berry skimmed off a large portion of the money Rogue gave to build Johnny's Chassis, and then used most of her savings to complete the construction of this Prototype Mech.

Don't be fooled by the fact that this thing is only two meters tall and man-sized; its components and systems were extremely expensive, even though the talented Berry personally fabricated most of them.

She could only manage to produce one unit for now.

V swallowed hard and nodded seriously.

Even though it was an Uncertified Product built by her girlfriend, and she was the first test subject, she still took the risk and stepped forward.

"No problem, V. Hold firm, and you'll find a way."

Berry pumped her fist, cheering V on.

It's fine. She had been debugging it for half a day, and the probability of this Mech snapping V in half had dropped from twenty or thirty percent to infinitely close to one percent.

Besides, in a critical moment, she could remotely cut the power.

Since she handled things, V just needed to relax.

V, of course, didn't know what Berry was muttering internally; if she did, her legs might turn to jelly.

Gambling on probability is like having your fears come true.

What was that effect called? The Tacitus Trap? Hmm, V forgot anyway.

V stepped onto the platform, turned around, and cooperatively stretched her arms out flat, making a cross shape. A combat suit synthesized from multiple layers of Nano-material was donned onto her with the assistance of mechanical arms.

The initial touch was icy, but then the internal thermostatic material began to work. V soon felt herself enveloped by a layer of moist, warm material, and then, that feeling of being wrapped disappeared too.
