Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Beginning

The current state of the elevation hall had descended into complete disorder. Thick arcs of lightning filled the space from floor to ceiling, flashing without pattern as they tore through the air. Each discharge was followed by deafening thunder that echoed through the structure, while the platform and surrounding metal surfaces shook violently under the strain of unstable energy. The noise and motion layered on top of each other, creating an environment that felt constantly on the verge of collapse.

Amid all of this, one figure remained unmoved. The naked man stood upright at the center of the chaos. While lightning struck nearby and the hall trembled, his attention remained fixed solely on the box before him. He did not flinch, nor did he react to the violent surroundings, as if the destruction around him had no relevance at all.

His eyelids stayed closed, just as they had since the moment his biological body was formed. This was not due to injury or incapacity. There were simply no eyeballs behind them. Vision was something he did not possess in this form. Instead, he perceived the environment through other means, relying on non visual senses to understand space, motion, and energy. Until now, that limitation had not concerned him.

As the box continued drawing energy from the generator, a new possibility surfaced in his mind. With the amount and quality of yuan energy currently being gathered, recreating functional eyeballs was now feasible. More importantly, they could be made durable enough to endure the instability of his body and the surrounding forces without breaking down on their own. The idea settled in his thoughts as a practical consideration rather than an emotional one.

Then another thought surfaced suddenly.

'What about my genitals...'

The realization arrived without warning, cutting through his focus. It was not embarrassment or discomfort that followed, but a simple acknowledgment of an oversight. In the process of recreating his body, that aspect had been entirely forgotten. He had omitted it without intention, leaving it unresolved until now.

Right now, the man questioned the presence of genitals and wondered whether they had any practical value for him at all. He briefly considered their possible biological functions, such as reproduction or waste management, but none of those seemed relevant to his current condition or goals. Before he could think any further about it, his train of thought was interrupted again because his remaining energy reserves were too low to sustain extended reasoning. Frustrated by this limitation and recognizing that further analysis would be inefficient, he decided to halt his thoughts for the moment and simply wait for Valvan to finish.

...

The chaotic situation inside the elevation hall continued for almost half an hour, with unstable energy surges gradually losing strength until the area slowly returned to a stable state. Even before this event, the hall had already been in a state of decay caused by the long passage of time, as well as the scattered remains and waste left behind by the insects that had infested the area. After the lightning activity occurred, the damage became far worse, as the powerful electrical arcs struck repeatedly and destroyed large portions of the massive pillars, shattered the central bridge, and tore through sections of the ceiling and the surrounding walls. Despite the extensive destruction around him, the man showed no reaction to the ruined environment, since his full attention was fixed on the open box in front of him.

When the ripple like animation across the smooth surface of the box finally came to a complete stop, the man reached down, lifted the box into his hands, and spoke clearly, saying, "Well done, Valvan. Now, let's get back to the chamber and continue the reconstruction of this body."

...

After returning to the chamber, their priority was clear. The remaining incomplete parts of the man's body needed to be reconstructed as soon as possible. Without delay, the naked man moved toward the center of the chamber, where the pyramid like structure was positioned on the metallic floor. Its layered platforms remained inactive, waiting for a command.

Reaching the structure, the man carefully brought the box down from his arms and placed it above the center of the formation. Once the box was positioned, he stepped back and put some distance between himself and the structure. He stood still, waiting for the reconstruction process to begin.

The box activated almost immediately.

"Power grid ON."

A low hum spread through the chamber as dormant systems awakened.

"Initializing data..."

Streams of internal processes began running in sequence.

"Detecting network..."

A brief pause followed.

"Failed to connect to the Heaven's pathways..."

There was no reaction from the man. The message appeared to be expected.

"Commencing Protocol Omega."

Valvan required only a few seconds to complete the necessary preparations. The chamber lighting shifted slightly as energy was rerouted.

"Protocol Omega ON."

"Scanning for intruders..."

The chamber was swept by invisible detection fields.

"No intruders found."

"Reverting back to initialization..."

"Initialization is completed."

"Restoring back up data..."

"Back up data is confirmed."

"Scanning for viruses and malwares..."

Another brief pause followed.

"All systems checked. Creator is safe to undergo reconstruction."

The box paused for a fraction of a second before continuing.

"Starting the conversion process in 3, 2, 1."

As the countdown ended, a vertical beam of bluish light appeared out of nowhere and struck the man's body directly. The light wrapped around him completely, forming a contained column that separated him from the surrounding space. His body slowly lifted from the floor, rising into the air without resistance, marking the continuation of the conversion process.

The conversion process continued without interruption for the next twelve months. Throughout that entire period, the chamber remained sealed and silent, broken only by the faint hum of energy flowing through the pyramid like structure and the box positioned above it. Inside the vertical beam, the man remained suspended, unmoving, while his body was slowly altered and completed.

During this time, most of the remaining missing components of his body were reconstructed. Eyeballs were formed and set into place, durable enough to withstand the strain of his existence. A heart was created to regulate internal circulation, followed by lungs that allowed controlled respiration when required. Alongside the brain that had already been recreated earlier, these organs became the only major functional systems inside his body.

No organs related to digestion were formed. There were no structures for excretion, and no organs associated with reproduction were created. These omissions were not the result of an error or lack of resources. They were deliberate design choices that had been decided from the very beginning of the conversion plan. The man himself had not been consulted on these matters, and his permission had never been requested.

For an entire year, the chamber remained unchanged. No voices echoed through the space, and no new messages were spoken. The beam continued its work in silence, steadily completing the reconstruction.

When the process finally reached its conclusion, the bluish vertical beam slowly withdrew and faded from view. The energy that had enveloped the man dissipated, and his floating body gently descended until his feet made contact with the metallic floor. He settled into an upright position, standing still as the last traces of light vanished.

Only then did Valvan's mechanical voice break the silence once more.

"Process is completed."

A brief pause followed.

"Reconstruction is successful! Hooray!"

Hearing the familiar voice of his long time companion, the man opened his eyes for the first time since the reconstruction had ended. The chamber came into focus slowly, its metallic walls and the central structure appearing clearer with each passing moment. His vision felt stable, grounded, and free of distortion.

His gaze settled on the open black box resting nearby, the same object that had safeguarded his existence for an unknown length of time. Seeing it there stirred something genuine within him. A small smile formed on his face, unforced and sincere.

"It is actually good to be back, Valvan," he said quietly. "Thank you for the hard work."

As expected, Valvan replied without hesitation. "It is always my pleasure to assist you in everything, creator."

The man was not surprised by the response. Valvan's personality and manner of speech had been carefully programmed long ago, and this reply was exactly what he had anticipated. Even so, the gratitude he felt was real, and it lingered despite his understanding of the box's nature.

He set those emotions aside and shifted his focus to the task at hand. Standing still in the chamber, he began to inspect his newly reconstructed body, the highest-tier vessel designed for galactic combat and longevity. The first thing he examined was his vision. He blinked several times, adjusted his focus, and scanned the surroundings with care.

There were no distortions, no delays, and no unexpected lapses. His eyesight responded as intended. Satisfied with the initial results, he moved on to examine his newly formed lungs. These lungs were fundamentally different from those of ordinary biological life forms. They were not designed for respiration and did not function to exchange gases or remove waste from the bloodstream, as his body did not require breathing in the conventional sense.

Instead, their sole function was the intake and storage of yuan energy through inhalation. Once drawn in, the energy would be filtered and purified within the lungs before being transferred directly into his bloodstream. This process occurred automatically and continuously, without conscious effort on his part.

His bloodstream itself was no longer composed of blood alone. It was a stabilized mixture of physical blood and circulating yuan energy, both flowing together as a single system. This hybrid circulation allowed energy to be distributed to every part of his body with minimal loss, also turning his powerful blood blue.

As for his heart, it served as the core of the vessel. Rather than acting only as a pump, it functioned as the primary power unit, regulating and distributing both blood and yuan energy throughout his body. It supplied energy to all systems, including his brain.

This explained the state he had been in before. As he lacked a heart a year ago, his mind could not operate properly. His thoughts had been fragmented, unfocused, and unstable because there was no core to sustain the brain at full capacity. Now, with the system in place, that weakness had finally been addressed.

Feeling the steady and powerful flow of energy moving through his body, the man found himself genuinely satisfied. Every movement felt responsive, controlled, and stable, unlike before. The vessel was finally operating as intended.

However, there was one detail that still bothered him. The absence of genitals was impossible to ignore now that his mind was clearer. At this point, he understood why this missing component had never fully crossed his thoughts during reconstruction. It was not an accident or an oversight on his part. The vessel creation blueprint had been altered.

There was only one being with enough authority and familiarity with the system to do something like that.

"Damn you, Irithia."

The curse left his lips quietly. He shook his head once, choosing not to dwell on it further. The omission was inconvenient, but it posed no immediate threat to his survival or function. There were matters far more important than physical desire, especially given his current circumstances. For now, the anomaly could remain unfixed.

Refocusing, he turned his attention back to more pressing concerns.

"Valvan, how much energy do you have left? Also, what is the current synchronization percentage of this body?"

Valvan responded without delay.

"I currently retain enough energy to resurrect one bestial hybrid using a low tier vessel, creator. As for your body, the synchronization with the databook has already exceeded one percent. According to the vessel creation blueprint, this is considered a favorable outcome."
