She squirmed as if her backside was on fire, her eyes darting around like they were in overdrive.
Ethan Summers immediately noticed Sierra's strange behavior. He eyed her suspiciously, "Cecilia? What's wrong? Did that jerk Caleb Sterling say something inappropriate to you again?"
"Wha-what?" Sierra was startled by her brother's sudden outburst. Her mind was still filled with rather explicit thoughts, which made her feel guilty.
However, Ethan's question confused her. She took a bite of her food and shook her head, denying it, "No, I just read a horror novel. It was a bit scary..."
"A horror novel?" Ethan was skeptical.
He figured it was more likely that his sister had been reading a romance novel.
But Sierra wouldn't say more, and he didn't press the issue.
"What's going on?" Julia Jennings gave Sierra a piece of braised pork, noticing the secretive tension between the siblings, and couldn't resist joining the conversation.
