Caleb Sterling opened the door and found the room unexpectedly pitch black.
He frowned.
Usually, whenever he came home, the lights were on, and Sierra Summers was curled up on the sofa, smiling up at him, quietly waiting for his return.
Today, it was suddenly absent, and Caleb felt a bit indescribably disappointed.
"Honey?"
Caleb instinctively called out as he turned on the lights.
"I'm here~"
Sierra walked out from the kitchen doorway holding a cake, moving slowly to ensure the cake remained intact, handling it with great care.
Hearing Sierra's voice, Caleb immediately walked toward her.
As he turned the corner, the cake blocked Sierra's face; she was slowly making her way toward him.
The cake wasn't large, two-tiered, and medium-sized at best, but it was very special.
Caleb stood still, staring intently at the cake.
