"Baby, or you could just take your shoes off." Caleb Sterling suddenly dropped to one knee in front of Sierra Summers, his hand circling her ankle as his fingers slowly slid down, coming to that patch of angry red skin.
Sierra's skin was fair, so once it got rubbed raw, it was really obvious.
She hadn't worn this pair of shoes in a long time, and this time she really hadn't expected they'd wreck the back of her heels this badly.
No wonder she kept feeling like something was off when she walked.
When Caleb touched that spot, Sierra hissed through her teeth. She passively took off her shoes—she was wearing low-cut socks, and the lace at the opening already had a faint smear of blood on it.
The skin was broken.
A whole patch was bright red.
Sierra hadn't actually felt much pain at first, but the moment Caleb touched it, she jerked her foot back.
"That hurts…"
Caleb's voice went low. "Take off the other shoe too."
