High up in the leafy canopy of the oak tree, Vex's devastatingly wicked smirk only widened at Ren's furious demand. He lazily tossed another shelled walnut into the air, caught it cleanly in his mouth, and chewed it with deliberate, agonizing slowness.
Then, he moved.
With the terrifying, fluid grace of a true predator, Vex slipped off the thick branch and dropped. He fell through the air without making a single sound and landed perfectly on his feet directly behind Ren.
Ren gasped, her heart hammering violently against her chest as she spun on her heels.
The moment she turned around, she was immediately intimidated. Vex was standing entirely too close, his massive frame towering over her tiny human one. The sheer height difference forced her to tilt her head back just to meet his gaze. Despite her racing pulse, Ren stubbornly held her ground, plastering a firm, angry glare onto her face.
