When they were young, Serena Stanton and Adrian Shaw used to meet here many times.
Back then, whenever the owner saw them, he'd smile and say, "You two are fate, always running into each other."
The owner thought it was just a coincidence. Little did he know, their meetings were always planned.
But now, things are just the opposite of back then.
Serena glanced at the owner and replied politely, "He's not with me."
With that, she nonchalantly pulled out the chair at the second table and sat down calmly.
Not only did she not sit with Adrian, she even sat with her back to him.
The shop owner looked at Serena, then at Adrian, assuming they must've quarreled, withdrew his gaze sullenly, and didn't meddle any further.
Serena took out her phone, scanned the code to order, gaze down on the screen, but her thoughts were drifting.
Adrian was always this way—his mind subtle and unpredictable, impossible to see through.
