Adrian slowly lifted his head, the pad of his finger gently caressing the damp corner of her eye, his Adam's apple bobbing as his black eyes turned deep and dark under the shroud of night.
"Don't make me angry, Serena." His voice was low and hoarse. "I didn't come here to argue with you."
The sharp woody scent clinging to him boldly invaded Serena's senses; her breath quickened, her chest heaving as she gulped in the fresh air.
The luxury car's seats were comfortable, but the cramped cabin made it uncomfortable for two tall people like them, limbs brushing and entangled.
"I have something else to do today. Let me go—I need to get back." Serena steadied her breath and spoke to him with a calm expression.
Her eyes were clear, placid—devoid of any desire or affection.
Adrian disdained forcing any woman, and had never wanted to make love to her on his terms alone. That would be far too dull.
