The scene they might walk in on—Serena could hardly even imagine it.
Her heart pounded with panic, thunder cracking in her brain, as she lowered her voice to urge Adrian.
"Someone's coming, let go of me—now!"
Adrian withdrew his hand from her waist, unhurried and calm, not the least bit flustered. "It's not like they're here to catch us in the act. Why are you so nervous?"
Serena's mind raced, rapidly searching for a way out.
Everyone believed there was nothing between her and Adrian. If they were caught alone in a room together, there was no way people wouldn't get suspicious.
Which was basically just as bad as getting caught in the act.
Who knew if Adrian had done this on purpose? Of all the rooms to pick, he just had to walk into this one.
Out the corner of her eye, Serena glanced toward the window.
