Evelyn glanced at Cecilia, then at Julian, and asked softly, "You two..."
"No!" Cecilia refuted vehemently, "Evelyn, don't overthink it. I have nothing to do with him! We've only met a few times!"
Caden remained silent, accepting the red envelopes from both Julian and Cecilia, with a hurried sternness flashing in his eyes.
Evelyn looked over at Caden again. She actually didn't want to accept Cecilia's red envelope.
But, why did she feel that Caden's intention wasn't to accept the envelope, but to verify something.
Verify... something between Cecilia and Julian?
It didn't seem like Cecilia explained, having nothing to do with Julian.
Clearly, there was a significant connection!
Julian, feeling defeated, could only sit down, irritated by the slip of words he'd unconsciously uttered earlier.
Cecilia distanced herself from Julian, find herself neither coming nor going, burying her head, uncertain how to break the deadlock.
