Listening to Evelyn Morgan's probing tone, a deep emotion flickered in Caden Lockwood's dark eyes.
The fatigue and pain on his face weren't hidden too deeply, and the brilliance that once shone in his eyes was gone, making one inevitably feel heartache.
"You should hurry and rest!" Evelyn said urgently, "I won't disturb your sleep! Once you're asleep, you won't feel the pain! I'll turn off the lights for you!"
Caden's lips curled upward slightly as he held Evelyn's hand that reached for the switch, placing it in his palm, tenderly protecting it.
She looked at him, knowing he didn't want the lights off, so she simply used her other hand to gently press his temples.
His body temperature gradually turned cold, and yet he didn't utter a sound of pain, though his tightly furrowed dark brows revealed his current suffering.
When one is weak, it seems the body's warmth slowly fades away.
