Evelyn's nose stung, and her eyes felt warm. She sniffed, forcing herself to perk up and continue handing out those fans under the blazing sun.
As she mechanically handed out flyers, she felt lifeless, her amber eyes dull and her pale little face devoid of color.

Stubbornly, she refused to look back, not even glancing behind her.
