Listening to the child's question, Cecilia Lynch's lips awkwardly curled.
Her heart was filled with a deep sense of depression, like the countless grains of sand on the beach.
She gently parted her thin lips and murmured, "I suppose so!"
"Sister, you're so pretty, can you still be heartbroken?" the child said, taking a seashell out of his pocket and giving it to Cecilia Lynch.
He continued, "I picked this up, you open it and see, maybe there'll be a pearl inside! It's for you!"
"For me?" Cecilia Lynch looked astonished, "If there really is a pearl inside, would you still give it to me?"
"I pick up shells at the beach every day and even dive into the sea to find things. I'm giving this to you anyway, it's not certain there's a pearl!" As he spoke, the child waved at Cecilia Lynch, "I have to go home now! Sister, I wish the man you like appears right in front of you and that you two will have happiness together!"
After saying this, the child ran away laughing.
