As time ticked by, Cecilia Lynch's mother opened her eyes and saw Cecilia sitting by her side. Her gaze darkened, and a surge of intense anger swept through her body.
"Mom!" Cecilia called out anxiously, "You're awake! How are you feeling? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"
Mrs. Lynch sat up, raised her hand, and slapped Cecilia across the face.
"How could you do something so shameless?" Mrs. Lynch roared, trembling all over, "I would rather die than use the money you earned with your body for my treatment!"
Cecilia clutched her cheek, tears streaming down from the slap her mother gave her.
"Auntie!" Julian Keaton hurriedly shielded Cecilia, his eyes filled with distress, "Cece and I are truly in love! Although our beginning was a mistake, we've come to the point of discussing marriage. Please give me a chance to protect and care for her!"
"No need!" Mrs. Lynch pulled Julian away, keeping him from getting too close to Cecilia.
