Dune is a movie adapted from a novel, and it's not just any novel.
As a must-read classic in the history of science fiction, Dune has been selected for numerous lists such as Amazon's "100 Books to Read in a Lifetime," BBC's "100 Best-Loved Books," and "The Top 100 Science Fiction and Fantasy Books." It's also the first work to win both the Hugo Award and the Nebula Award, and it claimed the title of "Best Science Fiction Novel of the 20th Century" by Track magazine.
Li Peifeng, this literary youth and sci-fi enthusiast, had read the novel long ago, not only in multiple translations but also in the original English version. However, possibly due to cultural barriers or because the novel was created 65 years ago, he wasn't very impressed with it.
First of all, Dune is not hard sci-fi, it's soft sci-fi.
