Chapter 185 - The Big Green Worm

"Where are we heading next?"

After leaving Meteor Falls, Cynthia turned to the boy beside her.

Chen Shi thought for a moment. "Let's head back first. I need to figure out how to use this Jade Orb."

"Alright."

Cynthia had no objections. Then she asked curiously, "How is this green orb different from the two that Team Magma and Team Aqua stole?"

"The difference is huge," Chen Shi replied. "This Jade Orb only has one purpose—summoning Rayquaza."

"You could say it's completely optional for Rayquaza."

"But the Red Orb and Blue Orb are different. For Groudon and Kyogre, those are extremely important."

Cynthia's brows furrowed slightly. "Explain. Why are the other two so important?"

Chen Shi scratched his head. "Think of it this way—the Red Orb and Blue Orb are like Mega Stones for Groudon and Kyogre."

"With them, they can undergo Primal Reversion. You can consider it something similar to Mega Evolution."

"Once they revert to their Primal forms, their power increases dramatically."

Cynthia fell silent.

Those two legendary Pokémon… could evolve further?

They were already terrifyingly powerful. If they gained something akin to Mega Evolution, the outcome would be unimaginable.

Suddenly, she recalled the photographs Steven had shown them—the towering stone pillars piercing the sky within the secret realm. Chen Shi had said those weren't ruins at all, but Groudon's signature move, Precipice Blades.

If that was truly just a move…

The thought alone made her scalp tingle.

Chen Shi continued with a smile, "Never underestimate top-tier legendary Pokémon. Take your Sinnoh trio, for example."

"Do you think the records describe their full strength?"

"In truth, they also possess forms similar to Mega Evolution—Origin Forms. Their power increases significantly as well."

"Origin Forms?" Cynthia repeated softly, then looked at him with narrowed eyes.

"Fine, the Hoenn trio makes sense. But how do you know so much about Sinnoh's legends too?"

Chen Shi froze internally.

That was a slip.

'How did I forget Cynthia is basically a walking encyclopedia?'

'Now she's definitely going to dig deeper.'

'What am I supposed to say? That I'm a transmigrator who learned this from watching anime?'

Under Cynthia's probing gaze, he could only laugh awkwardly.

"Uh… I once found an ancient manuscript. It recorded a lot about legendary Pokémon. That's why I know these things."

Cynthia nodded slowly, her smile not quite reaching her eyes. "And where is this manuscript now?"

"You know I'm interested in these things. Could I borrow it?"

"Uh… the manuscript… Dragapult was playing around and accidentally lost it. I couldn't find it afterward."

From within Chen Shi's shadow, Dragapult's triangular head slowly emerged, its gaze dark and accusatory.

Really?

I'm just standing here and somehow this is my fault?

Chen Shi waved awkwardly. "Why are you out? Go back."

Dragapult didn't move, just continued staring at him.

Cynthia let out a faint chuckle and didn't press further.

Ancient manuscript? Did he think she was a child?

Still, everyone had their secrets. She chose not to pry.

But she made a mental note—one day, she would uncover everything Chen Shi knew.

She had a feeling the truth would surprise her.

Seeing that she had dropped the subject, Chen Shi quickly changed the topic. "Anyway, since we're done here, let's head back."

Cynthia didn't respond. She simply released Garchomp.

Chen Shi looked at Dragapult. "Perfect. No need for you to go back either."

Dragapult: ...

...

At the Chen family ranch, Dragapult and Garchomp descended in front of the villa.

The two dismounted and walked inside.

Not seeing his grandparents around, Chen Shi didn't think much of it. He and Cynthia headed to the backyard and released the rest of the team.

"Train properly. No slacking. I'll be watching from upstairs."

As he said the word "slacking," his eyes lingered on Togekiss.

Togekiss looked away guiltily, refusing eye contact.

The others said nothing and began training on their own.

Chen Shi nodded in satisfaction. Aside from Togekiss, the rest rarely needed reminders.

Metagross and Charizard were training maniacs. Florges and Swampert were equally disciplined.

Cynthia also began her daily training, focusing on mastering Mega Evolution. Chen Shi had already taught her everything he could—now it was up to her.

Chen Shi then returned upstairs.

"Mew, do you recognize this Jade Orb?"

He took it out of his backpack and looked at Mew.

If he didn't know, he could always ask someone older.

Mew might be playful and unreliable at times—but it had lived long enough to know far more than he did.

As expected, Mew did not disappoint.

"Mew~"

(There's the scent of that big green worm inside. Very faint though—probably just a token used to summon it.)

Chen Shi's mouth twitched.

"Big green worm? Seriously?"

Accurate, perhaps—but "Sky Serpent" sounded much cooler.

Who knew Mew enjoyed giving other legends nicknames?

Still, that wasn't important.

"So do you know how to use it to summon Rayquaza?"

Mew yawned, reverted to its original form, and lazily floated onto the bed.

"Mew~"

(That big green worm is probably asleep right now. Its temper when waking up isn't exactly pleasant. Are you sure you want to call it?)

Chen Shi paused, then smacked his forehead.

Of course.

How could he forget?

The Hoenn trio weren't exactly known for gentle personalities.

This… might be trickier than expected.
