There was a depressive atmosphere in the headmaster's office, Eunji had left after giving her reports in which the latter was groaning and pinching his forehead. "We lost three students… All because of this document that neither of us noticed?" Sho asked as the green haired lady nodded her head.
"Yes. However, Eri stated that the trio are still in a suspended animation while being treated at the moment. She had requested your permission to put the three into her private chambers for further analysis and treatment." Eto said before continuing, "Also, Eri concluded that Sylvie's condition is similar to the one that Eunji and Rinka had investigated but had to drop it cause there weren't any recent activities until now."
Sho gritted his teeth before the pot of plant in his office was immediately crushed under an invisible weight. "I see. Dismissed." His tone had immediately sent Eto to leave as she didn't want to face his wrath.
The headmaster was furious with the signed document that neither he or Eto had approved of, especially when it only requested five fifth year students with the rank of mid-tiers and god-tiers. "Damnit…" Sho muttered before slamming his hand down to his desk in which more of the pots broke down under a heavyweight.
...…
Rei groaned as he was met with a bright light, struggling to keep his eyes open as he adjusted himself while bringing himself up slowly.
"Easy there."
The male looked over to his left before seeing Elliot, holding a clipboard while on that latter's side was Sylvie. "Rei…" she uttered weakly before holding his hand gently, "I thought you were never gonna wake up…" her statement made him confused before remembering all the events before going unconscious.
"Sylvie?! Where's the rest?! Are they okay?!" He asked, his mind already processing the fact that the other three may have suffered more than him.
Elliot and Sylvie's face was enough to tell him the bad news as Rei gritted his teeth while clenching the sheets tightly. "Damnit…" he uttered weakly as he was shaking from anger.
It wasn't long for a brief silence when Eri had arrived, telling of his condition and further evaluation of his well-being although she was explaining the most important part.
"Your body has changed. I can sense the ancient being's energy becoming stronger than before. It was a normal amount of a high A rank but this one is a low S rank now." Eri said before continuing, "I recommend for you to take a long break to adjust your current body and spiritual energy to flow naturally since the added presence of the incarnated being is embedded and doubled within you."
Rei nodded his head weakly before the two nurses had left the two to themselves, a loud and long silence as they were recalling the events before Rei asked her how many days or hours has it been which she had responded back by saying it has been three days.
"Rei… I have something to tell you. It's important…" Sylvie uttered as Rei looked at her, wondering what she was about to say next.
"I lost my prowess."
The single statement had frozen the male, his mind running wild as he had already simulated lots of scenarios where Sylvie would've constantly been bullied and get pressured a lot from awakeners. After all, she was a 'blank' if she had lost her prowess.
"W-What?!" He was surprised before he held her, panicking as his mental state started to spiral out of control.
"No… It's my fault… I should've… No… You wouldn't be like this if it weren't for my careless mistake…" his voice breaking which broke Sylvie's heart as she tried to reassure him but the latter was already breaking down, "If I checked the email to senior Eunji… Maybe we wouldn't be in this position… Haruki… Hinata… Erika… They wouldn't be gone… if I had just checked it with them…"
He was breaking down as Sylvie held and hugged him tightly, the latter uttering so much of everything being his fault as she tried her best to console him. Telling Rei that it wasn't his fault and everything was just some bad luck while adding the fact that the trio had chosen to go with them when they could've just rejected the request themselves.
After a couple of hours, Sylvie found Rei to have fallen asleep on her shoulders before she laid him down on the bed gently. She couldn't help but let out a tear, the fact that she was barely able to help Rei especially with his mental state had put her in a tight spot to either leave the academy for her safety due to her condition or to stay since her best friend needed her presence to put himself at ease.
"Sylvie." The magenta haired girl looked to her side and saw Eunji, worried as she motioned for her to come with her.
...…
The two had arrived at the headmaster's office, the magenta haired girl already thinking of the headmaster letting her leave for her own safety but what surprised her was her mother and elder sister that ran up to her.
"My dear baby… You're safe…" Her mother cried softly while her older sister just patted her head gently, "Thank you. For returning back alive…" They said as Sylvie started sobbing.
Eunji had let them take their moment before the headmaster started to grab their attention a couple of minutes later. "Mrs. Seraphim. I apologise for letting this happen to her especially with the condition of her awakening and prowess." He said before continuing, "If this incident makes you worry for your daughter, I respect your wishes for withdrawing her academic life here."
His statement made Sylvie feel sad, she didn't want to leave Rei alone especially when the latter was already spiralling down or worse; relapsing hard especially when the male had tried so hard not to reject himself, degrade his self worth and to harm anyone out of nowhere with his uncontrolled rage.
It was a long silence as Sylvie had no choice but to accept her mother's decision to withdraw her out of the academy prior to her condition.
"No. I'm not withdrawing her out of the academy because of that."
The statement that came out of Sylvie's mother surprised them all before she continued as she caressed her daughter's head. "She loves it here. I'm not taking that away from her. Even if it worries me, I can't take what makes her happy especially when Sylvie is so close to that boy." She said which made the latter blush slightly but allowed her to continue talking.
"I want her to stay, not because of him… It's because she's pursuing a path of her own. I can't make the decisions for her because of the safety that I worry about. I want my daughter to grow to the best of herself without being looked at as my daughter but as an individual with an identity of her own."
Her reasoning and explanation made sense to the headmaster as he nodded his head, sighing in relief.
"Headmaster. I have a request." She said in which Sho allowed her to voice it out, "I want my daughter to be safe. I don't want her to be hurt nor to break all because of her condition. Please. Do everything in your power to keep her safe."
Sho responded back, "I will. In fact, I'm transferring her to the assault division for a temporary session until her condition is undone." He said as Sylvie's mother nodded her head before they left as Eunji escorted them.
"Now then… I believe that I have business to attend…" Sho muttered to himself with a tone of venom, looking at his computer with every staff list and information.
His eyes glowed a bright hue of green, the rage fueling his energy to put everything that he has to keep the academy from collapsing while putting Sylvie's condition and Rei's status as the main priority.
"Let's get started…"
...…
"You did what?!" Tengen shouted on his phone, mad at the information that he had received from his lackeys as the white haired male could only pinch in the bridge of his nose.
"What? Didn't you say to take care of the vessel?" The response made the latter mad as he shouted back angrily, "YOU FXCKING RETARD! I DIDN'T SAY KILL! I MEANT TO CRIPPLE THEM! WHAT MAKES YOU THINK OF THAT WHEN I GAVE Y'ALL THE PACK OF SYRINGES?!"
Tengen sighed before ending the call, frustrated at how stupid his lackeys were as he needed to make another plan to have the vessel of the 'Fallen' manipulated under his hands.
However, a knock on his door was heard which confused him but called out to allow them to enter. The one who entered was a green haired male that Tengen had realised to be Haru's lapdog.
"Oh, it's you. What do you want?" He asked while the latter laughed before giving him some vital information that Tengen would like.
"I'm sorry for my sudden appearance but this isn't from Haru's commands but rather, my own interest." The male said in which infuriated Tengen since he was already pissed but before he could even respond, the latter continued. "I've heard from the infirmary from both Eri and Elliot that Sylvie has lost her prowess from the incident."
Tengen's eyes widened, a plan already formulating in his head. "I see. Care to tell me everything, Neon?" He asked, clearly interested in the details.
Neon started to explain the details that he had acquired from sneaking around the academy and relaying it both to him and Haru. "I have a request for you and Haru." Tengen said, which spiked an interest with the latter. "What is it?"
"Break them. Mentally and physically." The white haired male smirked before Neon returned it back, "No need to. I'm already on it."
