Chapter 65 - Chapter 63: Monster (3)

Jinwoo felt a bit dumbfounded, after all, how did the situation end up so quickly with the managing to get a bit of information upon having Rei defeating the enemy despite the troubles that were given to them. The stalker that had the ancient being's relic before Rei's body naturally absorbed it after the same marble had anonymously poured out the energy out of nowhere.

Rei and the stranger locked eyes before they engaged as the latter fought back with what seemed to be blood that combusted out of their back. "Blood Manipulation?" The male questioned as Jinwoo responded, "Probably one of the Yamashita Clan's banished members or those who chose to leave due to being unable to adapt to our modern society."

The intern could nod his head before manifesting a shadow to pull himself out of the dangerous situation after the explosion from the blood that had now turned into a crystal. "Brat. That thing emits poisonous substances upon touch or a sniff from it." Keith warned the latter through their mental link as Rei had immediately summoned more shadow tendrils to try capturing the stranger.

His passive ability was able to detect the particle that emitted from the now crystallised blood as it screamed danger to him. "Senior Jinwoo. The blood is emitting a dangerous aura. I suggest that we either avoid the entire thing and reroute or we do our usual thing." Rei said as he used the shadow tendrils that he made to crush the crystallised blood, "That is to exterminate that which gets in our way."

The stranger was shocked before it manifested a huge amount of blood before compressing it into a sphere on both hands. "Rei! Watch out!" Jinwoo shouted as the enemy immediately screamed at the top of their lungs, "Blood Art: Demonic Combustion Spear!"

The black haired male noticed the large amount of spiritual energy being used as Rei immediately copied the latter's prowess to counter it back. "Blood Art: Demonic Combustion Shadow Spear!" The male combined his shadow manipulation prowess and the copied then amplified blood manipulation prowess as Rei countered the latter's attack.

Four identical crystallised spear, both glowing a bright hue of red while the only difference was two of those were covered with a trail of black markings which signified the shadow tendrils being imbued as it emitted a black smoke and wisps while the spear itself was more sharper and durable.

Once the two spears had hit each other's end, it exploded with one crystallising the explosion while the latter devoured everything upon exploding as the shadow that was imbued in it had unwrapped itself before forming into small pieces of sharp fragments.

Every fragment immediately sent itself onto the blood manipulation user as they were overwhelmed by the immense amount of the showering attack, each one grazing their skin or one that managed to pierce itself onto their arms, shoulders and legs.

The stranger was about to try to form an attack of their own when the shadow fragment that pierced their body immediately exploded as it formed into a layer of tendrils that wrapped around them before pinning him down to his knees.

"Resist. Then it's gonna get worse." Rei uttered as his eyes glowed even brighter, his gaze sending a chilling atmosphere through the strangers instinct that immediately understood the grave situation that they were trying to avoid.

The stranger could only let out a groan as they did their best to put every effort and energy that they had left although it seemed to be futile when Rei just tightened the restraints by pouring his spiritual energy into the black whips that were wrapped around the person.

"Fxck you!" They shouted before something out of their pocket fell out as a burst of energy had immediately pushed Rei and Jinwoo away.

A creature that emitted the same energy that Rei had felt from before. "Looks like this guy got something for you…" The male uttered as he didn't waste any time before sending out his shadows to pierce through them, making it squirm in agony from how Rei was aggressively attacking them.

Each strike of his tendrils cut the limbs and parts that had just regenerated. Rei was ruthless as the only thing that Jinwoo could see was an apex predator putting another predator that's ranked lower than them in their place.

The creature screeched as Rei had already managed to restrain it, the shadow tendrils all over the place as it tightened further while he went closer before using the sickled to slash the middle of their supposedly chest. "Bingo." The male smiled, looking at the shiny glowing golden yellow marble as he reached out with his hand.

"Should I break it or-" Rei was immediately interrupted on his mental link with the ancient being.

"No. I'll take it myself." Keith said as the energy that emitted from the marble had immediately pulled everything it had before Rei's body absorbed it naturally.

"Rei!" Jinwoo screamed, absolutely worried except the latter had reassured him and had deactivated his prowess after killing the creature while using the remaining shadows to pin the same stranger into their knees but way too brutal this time as he had picked up a steel to pierce them down to the ground which Jinwoo found to be extremely ruthless.

"Kid. Are you alright?" Jinwoo asked upon scanning his eyes all over the intern, wondering if the energy that he saw upon having it go into Rei was either harmful or what he had heard from the headmaster that he was a vessel to the 'Fallen'.

"Yeah. Trying to adjust to the power. Don't worry, it won't hinder my physical health nor would it influence me either way." Rei said before using his sickle to raise the stranger's look onto them by their chin.

"Now then. Shall start then?" The intern said as he used the still glowing golden yellow hue while allowing Keith to manifest a set of eyes under his left face along with a mouth and its usual markings.

"Talk. Unless you want me to take control of my vessel and do the job myself." His tone sending both Jinwoo and the stranger anxious and scared, after all, an ancient being like the 'Fallen' was one thing that you shouldn't dare to challenge especially with its history of almost annihilating half of humanity nor every species that existed and lived.

...…

Jinwoo was reporting everything to the headmaster in full detail. Especially with how the interrogation ended with Rei allowing the 'Fallen' to take control of his left side before the suspect died by having them slashed into multiple parts until nothing was left behind.

"Should we assign more professional sorcerers to this development especially with how Rei is behaving?" Jinwoo asked while on the opposite side of the call had someone letting out a deep sigh.

"Not yet. I have no clue how to assess this peacefully. Especially when you just mentioned that both him and the ancient being are cooperating… We both can't tell if he's being influenced or just generally forcing the both of them to coexist…"

The headmaster's statement was understandable as the Korean male could only wonder how the intern should be approached or to at least satisfy with whatever they were dealing with.

"Alright. I'll send in the results after the internship for the changes." Jinwoo said before ending the call as he started to think deeply.

The first time he met Rei, the latter looked rather boring and lifeless as if he was still searching for something which he thought was a motivation to grow strong until that day of where Rei had taken his first kill.

The more hunt and execution missions that they finished, the clearer he saw what Rei was becoming. Each kill that the latter had done was performed ruthlessly without any remorse as if it had turned off their switch of being humane. From slight hesitation to nothing at all that could stop him from making any hard choices.

Especially with today's event where Rei had executed the latter with the ancient being's help after getting the information that he needed despite how little it was. The aura of Rei Nishimura had shown was rather controlled than the fluctuating mess that Jinwoo had first felt from before, especially with the flow of their spiritual energy.

It was way too calm like walking into the void that was dangerous and very chilling as if every step or approach had the sensation of death itself that lingered around.

"If he continues down this path even I can't stop him… especially when he's cooperating with that ancient being in him…" Jinwoo muttered before letting out a deep sigh, "At this rate… He may end up becoming a monster just to catch a monster…"

The Korean male was in a deep thought, switching back and forth as he gazed onto Rei's former identity document and the current one.

"The question is… Will he be even more of a monster than the monster?" Jinwoo asked loudly to himself as he was preparing the documents and schedule for Rei's final week for the internship.
