The clinic felt quieter than usual, but not peaceful. It was the kind of silence that comes after something heavy like the air itself hadn't recovered yet.
Kairo leaned back against the wall, arms crossed, staring at the ceiling as if trying to process everything that had happened. His body still ached, but it wasn't just physical anymore. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw it again Yoshiro's smile, the erasure, the feeling of being completely powerless.
Tyouro sat on the edge of the bed, flexing his restored arms slowly, watching the way his fingers moved. There was a strange heat still lingering inside him, something new, something unfamiliar. He clenched his fist, and for a split second, a faint spark flickered gone before anyone could notice.
"…So it's real," he muttered under his breath, almost like he didn't want to admit it out loud.
Kimimaru stood near the window, silent as always, but his eyes weren't calm. They were thinking. Calculating. Replaying every moment of the fight, especially the one thing that didn't sit right with him his own power reacting in a way he didn't understand.
Yura stood apart from them, arms folded, her expression unreadable. She wasn't resting. She wasn't relaxing. She was thinking ahead.
That's when the door opened.
Shougo stepped inside.
The atmosphere shifted instantly not because he forced it, but because of who he was. Even injured, even tired, the students straightened slightly without realizing it.
Behind him stood someone familiar.
Hero.
He leaned casually against the doorframe, a few cards flipping between his fingers like it was second nature. His expression carried that same calm, slightly playful look, but there was something else now something more serious than before.
Tyouro was the first to react, letting out a small laugh. "Yo… card guy. Didn't expect to see you again this soon."
Hero smirked. "Yeah? I figured you'd at least say thank you first."
Kairo scratched the back of his head, letting out a breath. "You did save us back there… not gonna lie. That would've gone worse without you."
Kimimaru didn't say anything, but his eyes shifted toward Hero, silently acknowledging him. That alone was already a form of respect.
Yura glanced at him for a moment before speaking. "You're not just some random student. Those abilities… you were holding back."
Hero shrugged lightly, but didn't deny it. "Maybe. Or maybe I just don't like dying."
Shougo let out a small sigh, stepping forward. "Since you already met, I'll make it official. This is Hero. He'll be working with you more often from now on."
Tyouro raised an eyebrow. "Working with us? You mean… team?"
Hero gave a slight grin. "Don't get too excited. I'm not joining your friend group or anything. Think of it as… overlapping interests."
Kairo laughed a little. "Yeah, yeah. As long as you don't disappear mid-fight next time."
"I didn't disappear," Hero replied calmly. "I repositioned."
"That's literally disappearing."
Their conversation eased the tension slightly, bringing back a small sense of normalcy. But Shougo wasn't smiling anymore.
His eyes shifted.
"Yura. Come with me."
She didn't question it.
Without a word, she followed him outside.
The moment the door closed behind them, the air changed again.
The hallway was empty, quiet, the late afternoon light casting long shadows across the floor. For a moment, neither of them spoke. Shougo walked ahead slowly, hands in his pockets, as if choosing his words carefully.
Yura watched him.
"…You're not calling me out here for nothing," she finally said.
Shougo stopped walking.
Then turned.
His expression wasn't calm anymore.
It was serious.
"You saw it, didn't you?" he said quietly. "That fight wasn't something students should be facing yet."
Yura didn't answer immediately. Her gaze shifted slightly, remembering the moment Tyouro almost disappeared, the moment Kairo nearly collapsed, the moment everything could've ended.
"…Yeah," she admitted.
Shougo nodded once. "And it's only going to get worse."
That made her eyes narrow slightly.
"What do you mean?"
He looked up for a second, then back at her. "Yoshiro was just the beginning. There are more like him. Worse than him. And when they come… your team won't have the luxury of barely surviving."
The weight of his words settled slowly.
Not dramatic.
Not exaggerated.
Just real.
"And that's why you called me out here?" Yura asked, her voice steady but sharper now.
Shougo stepped closer.
"No," he said. "I called you out here because you're the only one who can hold them together."
That made her pause.
For the first time, her expression shifted.
"…What?"
"You heard me."
Shougo's voice wasn't loud, but it carried something heavier than before.
"Kairo has potential, but he's emotional. Tyouro is strong, but reckless. Kimimaru is sharp, but distant. Hero… isn't even fully on your side."
He looked directly into her eyes.
"You're the only one who can control all of that."
Yura didn't respond immediately.
Not because she didn't understand.
But because she did.
"…You want me to lead them," she said slowly.
"I'm not asking," Shougo replied. "I'm trusting you."
Silence.
A long one.
The kind that actually means something.
Yura looked away slightly, her mind running through everything every moment, every fight, every weakness she had seen in her teammates.
"…What if I fail?" she asked.
It wasn't doubt.
It was honesty.
Shougo didn't hesitate.
"Then they die."
The words hit harder than anything else.
No comfort.
No lies.
Just truth.
Yura clenched her fist slightly.
"…You really know how to motivate someone."
Shougo let out a quiet breath. "I'm not here to motivate you. I'm here to prepare you."
She looked back at him.
Her eyes sharper now.
More focused.
"What do you want from me?"
Shougo's expression softened just a little not weak, just… proud.
"Lead them," he said. "Protect them. And when the time comes…"
He paused.
"…make the decisions they can't."
That was the real weight.
Not strength.
Not speed.
Responsibility.
Yura closed her eyes for a moment, taking it in.
Then she opened them again.
"…Fine," she said. "I'll do it."
Shougo studied her for a second.
Then nodded.
"I knew you would."
As he turned to walk away, Yura spoke again.
"…Sensei."
He stopped, but didn't turn.
"If I have to choose… between the world and them…"
For the first time, her voice wavered just slightly.
"…what would you do?"
Shougo stood there for a moment.
Then answered quietly.
"I already made that choice once."
He continued walking.
"And I'm still living with it."
Yura didn't move.
Didn't speak.
She just stood there, watching him leave, the weight of everything settling deeper inside her.
For the first time since the fight…
She didn't feel like just a student anymore.
She felt like something else.
Something heavier.
A leader.
