Chapter 98 - Chapter 91: The Upside Down, The Bat Swarm, and The Spider's Web

[ Location: The Upside Down - Mirror Vivan's Bedroom ]

[ Date: November 1st, 1985 - Time: Unknown (Time is frozen here) ]

I stepped through the tear in reality.

The air hit me first.

It was cold—bitingly cold. Spores floated in the air like radioactive snow, drifting toward my face.

'Toxic.'

A thin, invisible film covered my skin, burning the spores away before they could touch me.

I looked around.

It was my room, but wrong. Vines thick as my arm pulsed on the walls, slithering over my posters. The window was shattered. Outside, red lightning flashed silently in a sky that looked like a bruised lung.

"Home sweet hell," I muttered, gripping the Void Blade.

I walked to the window and looked out.

Mirror Hawkins stretched out before me.

Dark, Ruined and Silent. There were no cars, no birds.

Just the wet, squelching sound of the Hive Mind breathing.

'He knows I'm here.'

The vines on the floor twitched. As they sensed my heat and my Aether.

'Let them come.'

I kicked the window frame out and jumped.

'Psychokinesis: Flight.'

[ Ability Active. ]

I floated down to the lawn, my boots crunching on dead, frozen grass.

SCREEEECH.

The sky darkened.

Not from clouds, but from wings.

A swarm of Demobats.

Hundreds of them.

They swirled like a tornado of leather and teeth, diving toward the fresh meat.

'Trash mobs.'

I didn't even need to draw my sword for these Lil monsters.

I just looked up.

I raised my left hand and commanded.

'GRAVITY WELL: CRUSH.'

[ Ability Active. ]

The air above me turned solid.

The gravity in a fifty-foot radius increased by twenty times.

The bats hit the invisible wall and crumpled. Their Bones snapped and wings shattered.

They fell out of the sky like wet stones, raining down around me in a circle of gore.

Splat. Splat. Splat.

One bat, broken but alive, hissed at my feet, snapping its jaws.

I stepped on it. Crunch.

"I don't have time for pets," I said, stepping over the carcass.

I looked toward the hill.

Toward the Creel House.

It stood on the horizon, bathed in red lightning.

The Throne.

I started walking.

[ Location: The Creel House - The Foyer ]

The front door was already open. It hung off its hinges, creaking in the nonexistent wind.

I walked in.

The house was alive.

Literally.

The walls were breathing. Veins pulsed under the wallpaper. The floorboards were soft, spongy, like walking on a tongue.

"Vecna..."

"Vivan..."

The voice came from the grandfather clock standing in the hallway. The clock was covered in rot, the hands melted.

"You shouldn't have come here."

"I was invited," I said, my voice echoing in the empty house. "By you. I am your guest"

I walked past the clock.

Vines shot out from the walls, trying to grab my ankles.

Slash.

My Void Blade moved faster than thought and I cut the vines without breaking stride.

The Vibranium-Chakra metal cauterized the wounds instantly, stopping the regeneration.

The house screamed.

A low, architectural groan of pain.

"Tell Henry to put the kettle on," I said. "I'm coming up."

I walked up the stairs.

The wood groaned, trying to tilt, trying to throw me off. I anchored myself with Telekinesis, walking up the vertical wall when the stairs collapsed, defying the house's physics.

I reached the attic door.

It was sealed with a barrier of black slime.

'Open.'

I used Atomic Rearrangement.

I turned the slime into Water.

It splashed harmlessly to the floor.

I kicked the door open.

[ Location: The Attic ]

The attic was the heart of the web.

Thick, black vines suspended a figure in the center of the room.

He was plugged into the house, plugged into the dimension.

Vecna.

He looked even worse up close ,his skin was raw, wet muscle, his left hand was oversized, clawed.

He didn't have a nose, just two slits.

'Hmm Something looks familiar , Ahh didn't have nose '

' Him and voldy gonna be best best friends and both of their name start with V, wait mine too ughh'

He was looking into the void, his mind wandering the Hive.

"Henry," I said.

He slowly turned.

The vines disconnected from his back with a wet suction sound.

He lowered himself to the floor.

He stood tall. Imposing.

"Vivan Frostwell," Vecna's voice grated in my mind.

"Henry Creel" I said. tightening my grip on the sword.

"Nice place. A little drafty, but it suits you."

Vecna tilted his head. "Is that what you think this is? Winning? You treat power like a cheat code. You steal, hoard and absorb things you don't understand. You are a parasite, Vivan..just like the Clown."

"I understand enough," I shot back, stepping closer. "I understand you're a bully who got lucky with some cosmic radiation and decided to make it everyone else's problem."

"Luck?" Vecna hissed.

He took a step toward me. The floorboards cracked. "I am evolution. Humans are a pestilence. They poison their world with noise and lies. I bring silence and peace."

"You bring a buffet for the Old Ones," I countered. "You think you're the apex predator? You're just the appetizer, Henry. Pennywise told me. You open that door too wide... the bigger will fish come in and they eat you first."

Vecna paused.

His blue eyes flashed with genuine, human anger.

"The Clown," he spat. "A chaotic variable. A disease. You let him burrow into your soul because you are weak."

"I caged him," I said coldly. "And I'm here to evict you."

Vecna smiled.

It was hideous. Wet lips peeling back over rot.

"You have... more power than before," he admitted softly, his mind brushing against my shields like sandpaper. "I can feel it humming under your skin. A star trapped in a jar. Vast. Dangerous. But power is nothing without conviction."

He raised his clawed hand.

"Let's see what breaks first. Your shield... or your mind."

The house vanished.

The attic dissolved into black smoke.

I was standing in a graveyard.

It was raining. Two graves lay open in front of me. Mom. Dad.

'Mental Attack. Illusion. Its a Cheap trick.'

"Stop it, Henry," I said, forcing a bored tone, though my heart rate spiked. 'I have Occlumency.'

"This parlor trick is weak. You're losing your touch."

"Is it?"

The mud in the third grave shifted.

A hand clawed its way out.

El crawled out of the dirt.

She wasn't the El I knew.

She was grey. Her eyes were gone—burned out sockets. Blood trickled from her ears.

She was wearing the dress from the Snow Ball, but it was torn and stained.

She dragged herself toward me.

"You left me," Dead-El whispered, her voice a wet gurgle. "You wanted power more than you wanted me."

I froze.

The words hit me like a physical punch.

Because a part of me—the dark, insecure part—feared it was true.

I had left and chased the power to protect.

"Vivan..." she reached out a skeletal hand. "Why didn't you stay?"

I felt a sharp, stinging needle in my heart.

My grip on the sword loosened.

'It's not real.'

"It feels real," Vecna's voice whispered in my ear, right behind me. "Because you know you're a monster, Vivan. Just like me. You use them. You use everyone."

I closed my eyes.

'No. I'm not you.'

'Reality Anchor.'

[ Ability Active: Psychokinesis (Divine). ]

I grabbed the fabric of the illusion itself.

'SHATTER.'

I slammed my will into the dreamscape.

CRACK.

The graveyard broke like a dropped mirror.

The rain stopped. Dead-El dissolved into glass shards.

I was back in the attic.

Vecna stumbled back, clutching his head.

Black blood leaked from his nose.

"Get out of my head," I snarled, raising my sword. The blade glowed a violent, angry Violet. "Or I will tear yours apart."

Vecna looked at me.

He wiped the blood away with his claw.

He looked... impressed.

"Fine," he said. "No more tricks."

He raised both hands.

The vines in the room screamed, tearing themselves off the walls to form a massive wall of thorns behind him.

"We do this the hard way."
